    Javanese Language and Culture in the Expression of Kebo Bule in Surakarta: an Ethnolinguistic Study

    The phenomenon of Kebo Bule as the actuality of Javanese language and culture in Surakarta can be criticized from the perspective of ethnolinguistic. In terms of the descriptive qualitative expression of the language and culture of Java, Kebo Bule from the perspective of Ethnolinguistic is identifiable on the background of it in Surakarta, the influence of Kebo Bule to the Surakarta's Court, and the meaning of Kebo Bule as one of the magical icons of the Surakarta's Court. Ethnolinguistic as a theoretical concept is part of the branch of linguistic studies that seeks to study the language understanding in a broader context in order to express an understanding of the culture. Methodologically, understanding the relationship between the expression of language and culture Kebo Bule can be peeled using ethnomethodology to ethnolinguistics by utilizing ethnoscience (knowledge typically owned by ethnicity, tribe, people) to find the cultural themes of people related to their mindset and the worldview. The research data encompasses of oral and written data, verbal data sources from informants and writes from a library. The validity of the data was done by triangulation, and data analysis using ethnoscience (especially taxonomic, domain and componential analysis). Results of the discussion is presented in the form of narrative texts related to the background, the effect and meaning Kebo Bule for the existence of the language and culture of Java in Surakarta

    The aim of this research is to describe the typicality and uniqueness of master of ceremony ‘pambiwara`s’ language in the panggih temanten procession of Kahiyang Ayu and Bobby Nasution`s wedding ceremony in Surakarta. This research is a qualitative- descriptive with a stylistic approach. The data resources are the text of pambiwara`s speech in the panggih temanten procession of Kahiyang Ayu and Bobby Nasution`s wedding ceremony. The research data are an orthographic transcription of pambiwara`s speech, which is broadcasted live by national televisions. The scrutinizing technique was used to collect the information by scrutinizing the language use of pambiwara. In this context, scrutinizing techniques consist of extracting the uniqueness of language use, encompassing the uniqueness of speech sound and the typicality of morphology in the language of pambiwara. The data was then analyzed through scrutinizing technique and note-taking technique. The result of the research shows that pambiwara in the panggih temanten procession of Kahiyang Ayu and Bobby Nasution`s wedding ceremony has an aesthetic language use, which accentuates on the uniqueness and the typicality of speech sound and morphologic of language. (Penelitian ini bertujuan mendeskripsikan kekhasan bahasa pada bahasa pewara ‘pambiwara’ dalam upacara panggih temanten Kahiyang Ayu dan Bobby Nasution di Surakarta. Penelitian ini berbentuk deskriptif kualitatif dengan pendekatan stilistika. Sumber data data tertulis yang berupa satu teks ‘pambiwara’ dalam upacara panggih temanten Kahiyang Ayu dan Bobby Nasution di Surakarta. Sumber data tersebut berupa sumber data lisan yang disampaikan oleh ‘pambiwara’ yang berasal dari informan. Data berupa transkipsi ortografis ‘pambiwara’ dalam upacara panggih temanten Kahiyang Ayu dan Bobby Nasution di Surakarta yang disiarkan langsung di TV nasional. Teknik dasar yang dipakai adalah menggunakan teknik simak, yaitu teknik mendapatkan data dengan cara menyimak penggunaan bahasa. Dalam hal ini menyadap analisis tentang kekhasan pemakaian bahasa meliputi kekhasan bunyi bahasa dan kekhasan morfologi bahasa dalam bahasa ‘pambiwara’, dan lanjutannya menggunakan teknik simak dan teknik catat. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukan bahwa ‘pambiwara’ dalam upacara panggih temanten Kahiyang Ayu dan Bobby Nasution di Surakarta mempunyai keindahan bahasa yang berfokus pada kekhasan aspek morfologi bahasa.)

    A Discourse of Theater Performance in Improving Nationalism in Surakarta

    Indonesian nationalism is the manifestation of Indonesians’ love to their State and homeland based on Pancasila. Nationalism is now in new civilization vortex called globalization and encounters increasingly big challenge. The feeling of nationalism has been eroded now and faded gradually as time progresses. Therefore, many parties begin to revive nationalism spirit through some activities, one of which is through theatrical art. Theatrical art was expected to improve nationalism in Surakarta City. Surakarta City or so called Solo is an autonomous area with city status under Central Java Province.     Tradition of Sesaji Rewanda at Kreo cave

    Sesaji Rewanda tradition is a ceremonial ritual performed by the Gunungpati community in Goa Kreo which is an annual event on the fifth day of Shawwal a month in the Islamic calendar. The ritual ceremony of Sesaji Rewanda is a symbol of respect for the ancestors of the monkeys who had helped Sunan Kalijaga when taking teak wood to be used as the main pillar of the 'saka guru' at the Great Mosque of Demak. This study used descriptive methods with qualitative study forms. The data collection in this study utilized participation observation techniques, in-depth interviews, library studies, and documents. The data obtained were analyzed with an ethnolinguistic approach, then the data analysis technique was completed by ethnographic analysis methods covering domains, taxonomy, and components. In addition, informal and formal methods were applied in presenting data. The results of the study obtained the use of the term in the tradition of Sesaji Rewanda in Gunungpati. The terms used in traditional rituals are classified in monomorphemic and polymorphemic forms (fixation and composition). Through an ethnolinguistic approach, the traditional term Sesaji Rewanda contains lexical and cultural meanings. The mindset of the Gunungpati community is reflected in the terms used in the ritual tradition of Sesaji Rewanda. The use of terms in the lexicon of Sesaji Rewanda can be put as a guide or paradigm of life in behaving and living by the Gunungpati community

    The Study of Code-Mixing Phenomenon on the Trials Held by Madiun Military Court

    This current research attempts to describe and explain the phenomenon of a speech event so-called code-mixing with military trials held by Madiun Military Court as the setting. The descriptions are based on (1) types and (2) factors attributing the code-mixing phenomenon. The source of data for this study is the utterances spoken by social components during the trials (juries, auditors, witnesses, victims, and defendants). Meanwhile, the data for this study are the application of code mixing. The data were collected through participative study method with noticing and recording technique. Meanwhile the secondary data of this study are the information related to the trials process obtained by conducting document study on official reports. In maintaining the validity, the current study employs method and data triangulation. The data were analyzed through interlingual and extralingual reference on the basis of Sociolinguistics. There are four lingual forms correlating to the code mixing namely (1) words (2) phrases (3) baster (4) and repetition. Those lingual realizations of code mixing are found to be attributable to four factors namely (1) habit (2) vocabulary mastery (3) humor (4) and interlocutor influence

    This study was a qualitative study. It combined semiotic theory to analyze the data. This article focuses on how images of food in Instagram represent economic and social values. In addition, this study reveals how photography has message and connotative meaning. This study shows that the use of aesthetic components in food photography aims to promote food product embraced by foodies in Instagram. The image of food can be a communicative language which shows economic value where all the photo embed marketing strategies. The color of food, the property used when photograph the food, somehow, attract followers to consume the food (appetizing the viewers.).     Semantic Relation in the Traditional Rituals of Dayak Maanyan Community in East Barito

    The Dayak Maanyan community recognizes two types of languages. The language used daily and the language used in traditional rituals. The language used in the ritual is arranged in the form of paired clauses with similar meanings. This article will examine the meaning relation between words in the paired clauses. The research was conducted in the East Barito district, Central Kalimantan province. This study's data collection area is the East Hamlet District in Jaar Village. Documentation of data in ritual leader utterances is done by transcribing recorded speeches during the ritual and recordings during direct interviews with ritual leaders to obtain the entire content of the ritual speech. Based on the results of data analysis from 840 pairs of transcribed clauses, The researcher found that the relation of synonymous meaning dominated the relation of meaning between the two clauses. The researcher also found the meaning relationship between class inclusion and meronymy and case relation. The pattern of meaning relations formed from the words in the paired clauses is that a is equal to b, b is a type of a, a is a component of b, a is a member of b, place b is part of the area of a, b is made of a, a has b, a is related to b, a is b, a does b, a becomes b, does a is accepted by b, does a uses b, does a aims to b
