Exploring the practical knowledge of eccentric resistance training in high-performance strength and conditioning practitioners
Habitual use of eccentric exercise has been recognised to increase strength and power; however, the current body of knowledge has limited potential to understand the application of such resistance training in athletic populations. In order to develop appropriate applied research, that relates to elite athletic populations, it is vital to appreciate the practical knowledge of strength and conditioning practitioners operating in high-performance environments. This study summarised the questionnaire responses from 100 strength and conditioning practitioners operating in performance sport relating to questions such as the training effects to various eccentric resistance training regimes, the rationale for the use of these techniques and the knowledge supporting its application. The combination of closed and open-ended questions enabled a thematic analysis to be conducted. There was evidence that practitioners employed a variety of eccentric training methodologies; however, there was interest in gaining greater understanding of the training dose to bring about the optimal adaptive changes, and importantly how this might translate to sport-specific performance. In addition, practitioners would welcome recommendations associated with eccentric training, whilst concurrently minimising the issues of excessive fatigue, muscle damage and soreness. The training effects of interest included neural, architectural and morphological adaptations and, importantly, translation to performance of sports-specific skills. Collectively, these responses called for more practically relevant research to be conducted within the high-performance environment, alongside more opportunities for professional development through learning and knowledge-sharing opportunities. The outcomes summarised in this work should inform future applied research projects and educational content relating to eccentric training
Kaon production and propagation at intermediate relativistic energies
We systematically study observables in nucleus-nucleus collisions at
1-2 A GeV within the Boltzmann-Uehling-Uhlenbeck (BUU) transport model. We
compare our calculations with the KaoS data on the kaon multiplicities and
spectra. In addition, the kaon collective flow is computed and compared with
the FOPI and KaoS data. We show, that the elliptic kaon flow measured recently
by the KaoS Collaboration is best described by using the Brown-Rho

A catalogue of the Chandra Deep Field South with multi-colour classification and photometric redshifts from COMBO-17
We present the COMBO-17 object catalogue of the Chandra Deep Field South for
public use, covering a field which is 31.5' x 30' in size. This catalogue lists
astrometry, photometry in 17 passbands from 350 to 930 nm, and ground-based
morphological data for 63,501 objects. The catalogue also contains multi-colour
classification into the categories 'Star', 'Galaxy' and 'Quasar' as well as
photometric redshifts. We include restframe luminosities in Johnson, SDSS and
Bessell passbands and estimated errors. The redshifts are most reliable at
R<24, where the sample contains approximately 100 quasars, 1000 stars and 10000
galaxies. We use nearly 1000 spectroscopically identified objects in
conjunction with detailed simulations to characterize the performance of
COMBO-17. We show that the selection of quasars, more generally type-1 AGN, is
nearly complete and minimally contaminated at z=[0.5,5] for luminosities above
M_B=-21.7. Their photometric redshifts are accurate to roughly 5000 km/sec.
Galaxy redshifts are accurate to 1% in dz/(1+z) at R<21. They degrade in
quality for progressively fainter galaxies, reaching accuracies of 2% for
galaxies with R~222 and of 10% for galaxies with R>24. The selection of stars
is complete to R~23, and deeper for M stars. We also present an updated
discussion of our classification technique with maps of survey completeness,
and discuss possible failures of the statistical classification in the faint

Propagation of Exchange Bias in CoFe/FeMn/CoFe Trilayers
CoFe/FeMn, FeMn/CoFe bilayers and CoFe/FeMn/CoFe trilayers were grown in
magnetic field and at room temperature. The exchange bias field
depends strongly on the order of depositions and is much higher at CoFe/FeMn
than at FeMn/CoFe interfaces. By combining the two bilayer structures into
symmetric CoFe/FeMn()/CoFe trilayers, and
of the top and bottom CoFe layers, respectively, are both enhanced.
Reducing of the trilayers also results in enhancements of
both and . These results evidence the propagation of
exchange bias between the two CoFe/FeMn and FeMn/CoFe interfaces mediated by
the FeMn antiferromagnetic order
