Multicast broadcast services support in OFDMA-based WiMAX systems [Advances in mobile multimedia]

    Get PDF
Multimedia stream service provided by broadband wireless networks has emerged as an important technology and has attracted much attention. An all-IP network architecture with reliable high-throughput air interface makes orthogonal frequency division multiplexing access (OFDMA)-based mobile worldwide interoperability for microwave access (mobile WiMAX) a viable technology for wireless multimedia services, such as voice over IP (VoIP), mobile TV, and so on. One of the main features in a WiMAX MAC layer is that it can provide'differentiated services among different traffic categories with individual QoS requirements. In this article, we first give an overview of the key aspects of WiMAX and describe multimedia broadcast multicast service (MBMS) architecture of the 3GPP. Then, we propose a multicast and broadcast service (MBS) architecture for WiMAX that is based on MBMS. Moreover, we enhance the MBS architecture for mobile WiMAX to overcome the shortcoming of limited video broadcast performance over the baseline MBS model. We also give examples to demonstrate that the proposed architecture can support better mobility and offer higher power efficiency

Intense terahertz laser fields on a quantum dot with Rashba spin-orbit coupling

We investigate the effects of the intense terahertz laser field and the spin-orbit coupling on single electron spin in a quantum dot. The laser field and the spin-orbit coupling can strongly affect the electron density of states and can excite a magnetic moment. The direction of the magnetic moment depends on the symmetries of the system, and its amplitude can be tuned by the strength and frequency of the laser field as well as the spin-orbit coupling.Comment: 5 pages, 4 figures, to be published in J. Thermodynamical quantities of lattice full QCD from an efficient method

    Get PDF
I extend to QCD an efficient method for lattice gauge theory with dynamical fermions. Once the eigenvalues of the Dirac operator and the density of states of pure gluonic configurations at a set of plaquette energies (proportional to the gauge action) are computed, thermodynamical quantities deriving from the partition function can be obtained for arbitrary flavor number, quark masses and wide range of coupling constants, without additional computational cost. Results for the chiral condensate and gauge action are presented on the 10410^4 lattice at flavor number Nf=0N_f=0, 1, 2, 3, 4 and many quark masses and coupling constants. New results in the chiral limit for the gauge action and its correlation with the chiral condensate, which are useful for analyzing the QCD chiral phase structure, are also provided.Comment: Latex, 11 figures, version accepted for publicatio

Magnetic control of the pair creation in spatially localized supercritical fields

    Get PDF
We examine the impact of a perpendicular magnetic field on the creation mechanism of electron-positron pairs in a supercritical static electric field, where both fields are localized along the direction of the electric field. In the case where the spatial extent of the magnetic field exceeds that of the electric field, quantum field theoretical simulations based on the Dirac equation predict a suppression of pair creation even if the electric field is supercritical. Furthermore, an arbitrarily small magnetic field outside the interaction zone can bring the creation process even to a complete halt, if it is sufficiently extended. The mechanism for this magnetically induced complete shutoff can be associated with a reopening of the mass gap and the emergence of electrically dressed Landau levels

Hawking radiation from the Schwarzschild black hole with a global monopole via gravitational anomaly

Hawking flux from the Schwarzschild black hole with a global monopole is obtained by using Robinson and Wilczek's method. Adopting a dimension reduction technique, the effective quantum field in the (3+1)--dimensional global monopole background can be described by an infinite collection of the (1+1)--dimensional massless fields if neglecting the ingoing modes near the horizon, where the gravitational anomaly can be cancelled by the (1+1)--dimensional black body radiation at the Hawking temperature.Comment: 4 pages, no figure, 3nd revsion with one reference adde

Simultaneous determination of aconitum alkaloids in rat body fluids by high-performance liquid chromatography

    Get PDF
A sensitive, reliable and accurate high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) method coupled with photodiode array detector (DAD) were developed for the simultaneous quantitative determination of aconitine, mesaconitine and hypaconitine in rat plasma and urine by optimizing the extraction, separation and analytical conditions. The analyses were chromatographed on a ZORBAX Eclipse XDB-C18 column (150 mm ~ 4.6 mm i.d.; 5 ƒÊm particle size) with gradient elution using solvents ofacetonitrile and ammonium acetate buffer (pH 10.0). The detection wavelength was 240 nm. Intra-assay and inter-assay precision of the analyses were less than 10% and the average recovery rates obtainedwere in the range of 85.63 - 90.94% for all analysis of the three aconitum alkaloids with relative standard deviations (RSD) below 14%. Positive linear relationships were observed in correlation coefficients that exceeded 0.95. The limits of detection (signal-to-noise ratio of 3) were 2.64, 1.58 and 2.75 ng for aconitine, mesaconitine and hypaconitine, respectively. The method can provide a scientific and technical platform to determine the concentration of aconitum alkaloids in plasma during a pilot pharmacokinetic study in rats

Hawking Radiation via Tunneling from Hot NUT-Kerr-Newman-Kasuya Spacetime

We study the Hawking thermal spectrum in dragging coordinate system and the tunneling radiation characteristics of hot NUT-Kerr-Newman-Kasuya spacetime. The tunneling rates at the event and cosmological horizon are found to be related to the change of Bekenstein-Hawking entropy. The radiation spectrum is not pure thermal and thus there is a correction to the Hawking thermal spectrum.Comment: To appear in Class. Quant. Gra
