Provision of pharmaceutical services in accredited drug-dispensing outlets (ADDOs) in Tanzania has not been reported. This study compared the antibiotics dispensing practice between ADDOs and part II shops, or duka la dawa baridi (DLDBs), in Tanzania. This was a cross-sectional study that was conducted in ADDOs and DLDBs. A simulated client method for data collection was used, and a total of 85 ADDOs, located in Mvomero, Kilombero, and Morogoro rural districts, were compared with 60 DLDBs located in Kibaha district. The research assistants posed as simulated clients and requested to buy antibiotics from ADDOs and DLDBs after presenting a case scenario or disease condition. Among the diseases presented were those requiring antibiotics and those usually managed only by oral rehydration salt or analgesics. The simulated clients wanted to know the antibiotics that were available at the shop. The posed questions set a convincing ground to the dispenser either to dispense the antibiotic directly, request a prescription, or refer the patient to a health facility. Proportions were used to summarize categorical variables between ADDOs and DLDBs, and the chi-square test was used to test for statistical difference between the two drug-outlet types in terms of antibiotic-dispensing practice. As many as 40% of trained ADDO dispensers no longer worked at the ADDO shops, so some of the shops employed untrained staff. A larger proportion of ADDOs than DLDBs dispensed antibiotics without prescriptions (P = 0.004). The overall results indicate that there was no difference between the two types of shops in terms of adhering to regulations for dispensing antibiotics. However, in some circumstances, eg, antibiotic sale without prescription and no referral made, for complicated cases, ADDOs performed worse than DLDBs. As many as 30% of DLDBs and 35% of ADDOs dispensed incomplete doses of antibiotics. In both ADDOs and DLDBs, fortified procaine penicillin powder was dispensed as topical application for injuries. There was no statistical difference between ADDOs and DLDBs in the violation of dispensing practice and both ADDOs and DLDBs expressed poor knowledge of the basic pharmacology of antibiotics

Fulfillment of the strong bootstrap condition

The self-consistency of the assumption of Reggeized form of the production amplitudes in multi-Regge kinematics, which are used in the derivation of the BFKL equation, leads to strong bootstrap conditions. The fulfillment of these conditions opens the way to a rigorous proof of the BFKL equation in the next-to-leading approximation. The strong bootstrap condition for the kernel of the BFKL equation for the octet color state of two Reggeized gluons is one of these conditions. We show that it is satisfied in the next-to-leading approximation

Epithelioid Cell Histiocytoma – An Unusual Variant of Dermatofibroma at an Uncommon Site

Epithelioid cell histiocytoma (ECH) is a rare variant of cutaneous fibrous histiocytoma involving primarily trunk and the extremities. It can delude the pathologist in considering other benign non neoplastic and neoplastic lesions. Awareness of this new entity can avert unnecessary treatment. We report a case of epithelioid cell histiocytoma in a 40 yr old male who presented with a painless nodular swelling over the dorsum of nose. The case is presented here for its rarity and an uncommon site of involvement

    Higher Order Supersymmetric Truncated Oscillators

We study the supersymmetric partners of the harmonic oscillator with an infinite potential barrier at the origin and obtain the conditions under which it is possible to add levels to the energy spectrum of these systems. It is found that instead of the usual rule for non-singular potentials, where the order of the transformation corresponds to the maximum number of levels which can be added, now it is the integer part of half the order of the transformation which gives the maximum number of levels to be created.Comment: This article is a natural continuation of arXiv:1603.05173 and arXiv:1310.562

A Qualitative Study on Men’s Involvement in Reproductive Health of Women among Auto-rickshaw Drivers in Bangalore Rural

Background: Men’s reproductive health directly affects the partner’s reproductive health. Men also may serve as gatekeepers to women’s access to reproductive health services. “Male involvement” in reproductive health and family planning programmes is not just promoting the use of male methods of contraception, but men’s supportive roles in their families. Objectives: 1. To know the attitudes of men regarding the family planning and women’s health. 2. To know the involvement and participation of men in maternity, delivery, post-natal care and family planning. 3. To study the treatment seeking behaviour of men for the reproductive health. problems. Methods: The study was conducted on the auto-rickshaw drivers in the Hoskote town. Total 96 married men were interviewed using a well-designed and pretested questionnaire. The aspects covered are awareness and practices related to RTIs/STIs/HIV/AIDS, family planning, antenatal care and treatment seeking behaviour for the reproductive health problems. Results: Majority (62.50%) of the men did not help their wives seek antenatal care. Only few 7(7.29%) were aware of parameters of antenatal care. There were 44 (45.83%) men who reported the symptoms of reproductive tract infections (RTIs). Among the men suffering from RTIs, only 32(72.73%) took treatment. Only 6(6.25%) people were aware of the all family planning methods. There were 39 (40.63%) participants having extramarital sexual relations with prostitutes or other females, of which 25(64.10%) people do not use condoms while engaging in the high risk sexual encounters. There were 34 (35.42%) men not aware of HIV/AIDS. Conclusion: Antenatal care and family planning are considered the primary responsibility of the women. Also majority of the men in the study group have high risk sexual behaviour. The awareness regarding HIV/AIDS is low

On relativization of the Sommerfeld-Gamow-Sakharov factor

The Sommerfeld-Gamow-Sakharov factor is considered for the general case of arbitrary masses and energies. It is shown that the scalar triangular one-loop diagram gives the Coulomb singularity in radiative corrections at the threshold. The singular part of the correction is factorized at the complete Born cross section regardless of its partial wave decomposition. Different approaches to generalize the factor are discussed.Comment: 9 pages, 4 figures; references and discussion are extende
