Psychological Barriers in Long Term Non-Operative Treatment of Retroperitoneal Hematoma

The retroperitoneal hematoma can have, mainly, a traumatic etiology - blunt abdominal trauma (falls from height, road accidents, aggression of any kind, etc.), or open (incised wounds, puncture, penetration or gunshot wounds). Ruptured arterial aneurysms can cause hemorrhage in the retroperitoneal space. There is also spontaneous retroperitoneal trauma in patients with chronic treatment with anticoagulant or antiaggregant drugs (1). Hemorrhage in the retroperitoneal space can be iatrogenic, after surgical, open or laparoscopic, interventions (2, 3). A particular type of retroperitoneal hematoma is the psoas muscle hematoma in patients with chronic oral anticoagulant treatment (Acenocumarol, Warfarin)

An analysis of social gaming networks in online and face to face bridge communities

Online social games are Internet-based games that use the social networks formed by players to extend in-game functionality. For example, gamers participating in the BBO Fans community combine online bridge play with social networking. Despite an increase in the popularity of online social gaming—currently, there exist over one million online bridge players—, and of decades of research on social networks, the activity characteristics and the community structure of online social gaming remain relatively unknown. In this work we investigate and contrast these aspects for two bridge communities, BBO Fans (online) and Locomotiva (face to face). We propose the use of playing relationships instead of traditional social relationships such as friends and friends-of-friends. Using long-term, large-scale data we have collected from both the online and face to face bridge communities, we analyze user behavior, social network structure, and playing style in bridge communities. We find many similar characteristics in the two studied communities, but we also find more variation in the activity levels and fewer stable partnerships for the face to face bridge community

In this context, we have raised the problem of unethical behaviour, given that knowing the causes of unethical behaviour can help prevent it. Economics, efficiency, efficacy and ethic (the 4 E) represent the framework of the well-functioning of a firm, both in interior, and in relationships with the environment. The ethic gives the quality of this mechanism to differentiate the firm the other from the same market

Postmodernism as discourse from Foucault to Habermas

During the last decades, the term postmodernity has been highly invoked, on the one hand, or ignored, on the other hand. It is a term that can be found in the writings of various philosophers and sociologists, and is almost ignored and less meaningful within the economic thinking. At first view and analysis, postmodernity is the successor of the modern age, modernity in other words. However, the concept has much deeper meanings; it regards the future, foreshadowing the new realities of today's world, which are very complex and dynamic, and come under endogenous and exogenous influences, activities and issues that are permanently under the influence of multiple and multidimensional challenges [7]. In fact, the period of globalization, of the new trends of the revolutionary ICT (Information and Communication Technologies), is believed to overlap the period of postmodernism.From the philosophical point of view, but also in consonance with the economic life and realities, the individuals and entities of any nature should be characterized by adaptability, the ability to respond promptly and appropriately to the impulses and reactions that affect that system

Assessment of malpractice litigation following spine surgery

Medical litigation in spine surgery is a serious concern today, with a high volume of clinical negligence claims, substantial financial cost and significant burden, who is threatening the future of this surgery. Classical spinal surgery should be performed with very well documented indication, in order to improve the expected results, with clear aims: decompression of the neural elements of the spine from tightness, stabilizing the spine to protect the nerves, eliminate the pain resulting from abnormal loading from the different movements. Spinal surgery today means a wide analysis, understanding and realization of spinal decompression, also osteosynthesis and fusions, using high-performance gestures, with increased addressability especially in the elderly, for a varied pathology, which involves anaesthetic-surgical risks, complications. In such a context, surgical damage does not necessarily result from an error or from surgical misconduct and the surgeon is not always responsible for the damage in the absence of a proven fault in the legal sense. The paper aims to briefly review the main problems, but also useful recommendations to meet various challenges, expectations, maintaining the quality of life of each patient, reducing risks of getting sued, also to increase the odds of a successful defence. In conclusion: education, vigilance, improved patient-safety strategies, investigation, implementation and sharing of lessons learned from litigation claims remain important components of spinal surgeons training, to reduce future cases of negligence and improve patient care, quality of life, as many of the cases of successful litigation had a preventable cause

Understanding the anomaly: reinterpreting Porolissum Roman town with emerging GPR and ER data

The Roman Porolissum (Romania) was first surveyed with magnetics in 2010. Local geology is propitious for magnetic prospection. In 2021 the Polish-Romanian team carried out a complementary ER and GPR survey. Emerging geophysical data allowed reinterpretation of the previous survey results. Complementary survey data and geological setting analysis yet enhanced the archaeological interpretation
