    Towards the Semantic Text Retrieval for Indonesian

    Indonesia is the fourth most populous country in the world and the Asosiasi Penyelenggara Jasa Internet Indonesia (Indonesian Internet Service Providers Association) recorded that Indonesian Internet subscribers and users has been growing rapidly every year. These facts should encourage research such as computer linguistic and information retrieval for Indonesian language which in fact has not been extensively investigated. The research aims to investigate the tolerance rough sets model (TRSM) in order to propose a framework for a semantic text retrieval system. The proposed framework is intended for Indonesian language specifically hence we are working with Indonesian corpora and applying tools for Indonesian, e.g. Indonesian stemmer, in all of the studies. Cognitive approach is employed particularly during data preparation and analysis. An extensive collaboration with human experts is significant on creating a new Indonesian corpus suitable for our research. The performance of an ad hoc retrieval system becomes the starting point for further analysis in order to learn and understand more about the process and characteristic of TRSM, despite comparing TRSM with other methods and determining the best solution. The results of this process function as the guidance for computational modeling of some TRSM's tasks and finally the framework of a semantic information retrieval system with TRSM as its heart. In addition to the proposed framework, this thesis proposes three methods based on TRSM, which are the automatic tolerance value generator, thesaurus optimization, and lexicon-based document representation. All methods were developed by the use of our own corpus, namely ICL-corpus, and evaluated by employing an available Indonesian corpus, called Kompas-corpus. The evaluation on the methods achieved satisfactory results, except for the compact document representation method; this last method seems to work only in limited domain

Today, the AACR is the largest professional organization in the world with a membership of 37 000 researchers from 108 countries.     Biomarkers Discovery: The Benefit of the Study Exosomes Originated from Merkel Cell Carcinoma Cell Lines

    Merkel cell carcinoma (MCC) is a rare, aggressive neuroendocrine form of skin cancer with a rising incidence and a high mortality rate. The risk of developing Merkel cell carcinoma increased among a large number of immunosuppressed patients. The origin of cancer not known and the pathogenesis of MCC not fully understood. Two causes can initiate MCC tumorigenesis, such as accumulation of UV-induced mutations in the MCPyV-negative MCCs and Merkel cell polyomavirus (MCPyV)-encoded genes in MCPyV-positive tumor. Approximately 80% of all MCCs are positive for viral DNA of MCPyV. Immune therapy is a promising treatment for MCC patients, but it has failed to arrest the cancer progression. Precision medicine is needed. Precision medicine is a core of highly specific biomarkers disclose information for diagnosis, prognosis, and therapy. The usefulness of a biomarker lies in its ability to provide an early indication of a disease and its progression, and it should be easy to detect and measure. Our research aim was to investigate by high-throughput approaches for screening and analysis of two different types of MCC cell lines and their exosomes. Our proteomic investigation result showed that MCPyV-negative and –positive Merkel cell lines’ exosomes contain several proteins associated with tumor cell motility and metastasis. We identified a list of vesicular proteins derived from the extracellular region, which upregulated in exosome from MCPyV-negative MCC cell lines compare to MCPyV-positive MCC cell lines. We did the next-generation sequencing screening of exosomal small RNA from two groups of MCC cell lines. Main findings investigated in samples from healthy donors and MCC patients. The result showed the exosomal miR-222-3p presence in all type of samples derived from MCC cell lines, healthy donors and patients. The miR-222-3p selectively sorted in exosomes. The target genes’ screening indicates that the exosomal miR-222-3p play pleiotropic role dependent on recipient cells in health and disease. Then, the proteomic investigation and integrated analyses revealed the MCPyV-negative MCC cell lines loss the DNA, RNA and protein synthesis and their regulation system activity, and have an unusual event of protein expression at cell proliferation and post-translational modification sites. These may lead to transcription-associated mutation (TAM) and transcription-associated recombination (TAR), which gave a rise a high mutational burden. The MCPyV-positive MCC cell lines showed upregulated expression of proteins involved in DNA transcription initiation, termination, modification, and repair, harnesses of polyomaviruses for DNA integration. Following upregulated proteins of RNA, protein synthesis and post-translational modification machinery such as the protein acylation culminates in the viral proteins and genome synthesis. However, a fixed exosome-ER accession ability and a low activity on endocytosis and exocytosis sites indicate to reduce the chance of MCPyV spreading. Finally, transcriptomic and proteomic approaches are powerful tools for cell phenotyping and biomarkers discovery

    Pembangunan Alternatif Ontologi Alkitab

    Layanan teks Alkitab dalam format digital saat ini masih terus dikembangkan dan dimanfaatkan dengan berbagai latar belakang kebutuhan. Salah satu kebutuhan penting yang dapat disediakan adalah layanan informasi pelengkap teks Alkitab seperti objek tokoh, tempat, topik, atau kejadian. Informasi pelengkap ini dapat menolong pembaca Alkitab untuk mendapatkan pengetahuan sehingga diharapkan pembaca dapat belajar lebih dalam terkait teks Alkitab. Artikel ini melaporkan terkait pemanfaatan kerangka Semanti Web dalam memodelkan informasi pelengkap teks Alkitab. Dalam pemanfaatan Semantic Web, pengembangan ontologi OntoBible telah dilakukan yang memodelkan beberapa konsep penting dalam teks Alkitab, yaitu terkait tokoh, tempat, topik, dan kejadian. Dalam pengembangan OntoBible, digunakan dua ontologi yang telah terpublikasi sebelumnya, yaitu Bible Knowledgebase dan Family Tree. Pemanfaatan OntoBible juga telah dilakukan dalam bentuk pengembangan aplikasi sederhana. Aplikasi ini dapat menyajikan informasi terkait teks Alkitab yang lebih lengkap, antara lain visualisasi graf relasi keluarga seorang tokoh Alkitab, dan visualisasi lokasi dari teks Alkitab dalam bentuk informasi teks dan peta. Di sisi lain, pengembangan OntoBible masih perlu dilanjutkan untuk memperkaya konsep dari teks Alkitab

    Anatomía foliar en especies de Capsicum (Solanaceae) de diferentes ambientes biogeográficos Sudamericanos

    Se estudió la anatomía foliar en 13 especies de Capsicum L. que crecen en diferentes Provincias Biogeográficas. Se realizó un análisis comparativo de la epidermis foliar y de la estructura interna de lámina y pecíolo para hallar diferencias y/o similitudes entre las especies y la presencia/ausencia de caracteres mesomórficos/xeromórficos según el ambiente que habiten. La densidad de las células epidérmicas propiamente dichas, de los estomas, de los diferentes tipos de tricomas y el índice estomático fueron estadísticamente analizados. Los resultados indican que todas las especies presentan características similares en sus hojas. Sin embargo, en determinadas especies se observaron algunas particularidades, tales como hojas hipostomáticas, presencia y tipos de tricomas, presencia, disposición y tipo de cristales, fibras rodeando la vena media y probable presencia de taninos. No se encontraron diferencias significativas entre especies que habitan distintos ambientes, excepto aquellas especies procedentes de ambientes secos con hojas anfistomáticas y abundancia de cristales y tricomas. Se concluye que las similitudes de las variables epidérmicas y de la estructura interna de la hoja, observadas en las especies de Capsicum, estarían respondiendo a un agrupamiento según sus relaciones filogenéticas más que a las condiciones ambientales donde habitan.Fil: Palchetti, Maria Virginia.     Sistem Rekomendasi Topik Skripsi Program Studi Informatika

    Salah satu syarat kelulusan kuliah adalah lulus skripsi. Pada skripsi, mahasiswa perlu menentukan topik skripsi. Penentuan topik adalah hal yang penting pada skripsi, karena topik yang tepat akan mengurangi kendala dalam membuat skripsi [1]. Penulis melakukan analisa terhadap persentase nilai E pada nilai mata kuliah seminar dan skripsi. Hasil analisis menunjukan terdapat 21.6% dari 351 mahasiswa seminar yang mendapat nilai E dan 61.25% dari 240 mahasiswa yang belum dapat lulus skripsi. Hal tersebut menunjukan mahasiswa belum siap mengerjakan skripsi. FTI UKDW (Fakultas Teknologi Informasi Universitas Kristen Duta Wacana) ingin membuat sistem rekomendasi topik skripsi agar mahasiswa dapat memilih topik skripsi dengan tepat. Hasil penelitian, menunjukan sistem rekomendasi topik skripsi dapat dibuat menggunakan kombinasi K-Means++, cosine similarity, dan LDA Gibbs sampling. Sistem diimplementasikan pada framework Laravel

    Solanaceae diversity in South America and its distribution in Argentina

    Solanaceae is one of the most diverse families in the Americas, particularly in Argentina where it represents the fourth family in terms of species number. Although checklists for most South American countries have been published, some are outdated and there has been no analysis of Solanaceae diversity at country level. We present an updated summary of Solanaceae diversity in South America, an analysis of its distribution in Argentina, and preliminary conservation assessments for all species endemic to Argentina. Regression analyses were used for evaluating the ratio between taxa/area and endemic/total species, multivariate ordering methods were used to analyze the relationships between Argentine ecoregions, and the IUCN criteria were applied for conservation assessments. Results show that Solanaceae comprises 1611 species in South America. The highest diversity is in Peru, which, together with Ecuador, possesses more diversity than expected for the area; Chile and Brazil have the greatest percentage of endemic species. In Argentina, the Chaco ecoregion hosts the highest number of taxa, but largest number of endemic species is found in the Monte ecoregion. According to the IUCN criteria, 28 endemic species from Argentina are considered threatened.     Pemodelan Representasi Pengetahuan Berbasis OWL untuk Objek Arsitektur Candi di Indonesia

    Candi merupakan salah satu contoh warisan budaya. Jumlah candi Indonesia yang banyak membuat informasi yang tersebar di internet juga sangatlah banyak. Namun informasi tersebut bukanlah suatu kesatuan informasi. Oleh karena itu, dibutuhkan sebuah sistem yang dapat menyimpan informasi-informasi tersebut. Untuk membantu pengolahan data candi, maka dibuat sistem semantic web. Sistem ini akan membantu memodelkan data candi. Tujuan dari sistem ini adalah untuk memodelkan data dan menampilkan informasi yang akurat tentang candi yang ada di Indonesia. Sistem dibangun dengan menggunakan metode On-To-Knowledge. Sistem semantic web yang dibangun berbasis OWL dan database yang digunakan adalah SPARQL. Sistem semantic web mampu menghubungkan data kebudayaan candi dengan kebudayaan yang lain.
