Tamil literature consists of numerous genres. Of these genres children literature has been since Sangam period. The genre records the actions, behaviour and specialities of Children. Famous writer Valliappa is hailed as the father of children’s literature. He founded Child writers Association. Short stories, poems, novels of children literature are being created for children. As time moves on the texts written for children’s are enriched with new ideas and new thoughts. S. Balabharati has written his works based on children’s taste. Based on this, this article is the study of biographical allusions in the works of S. Balabharati

Security Threats and Challenges for Wireless Sensor Network

    Get PDF
A wireless sensor network is a network of a large number of independently working small sensing units which can communicate wirelessly. The basic plan of a Wireless sensor network (WSN) is to structural distribute self-determining devices using sensors to monitor physical or environmental conditions. Wireless communication technology performance different forms of security threats. WSN need effective security mechanisms because of these networks deployed in untended environments. Due to fixed limitations in wireless sensor networks, security is a crucial issue. The intent of this paper is to investigate the security-related threats and challenges in wireless sensor networks. The threats faced by this WSN are similar but not limited to those observed in a simple network of computers or Internet. We identify thesensorsecuritythreats, review proposed security mechanisms for wireless sensor networks

Analytical and Experimental Investigation of Flow Through a Turbine Vane Cascade .

    Get PDF
Present day military aero-gas turbines demand higher stage loadings for turbines so as to meet the growing for higher thrust/power with fuel consumption. This calls for improved methods of blade element profiles. Details of a computer code developed for the design of blade elements for the prescribed distribution of surface velocity (Mach number) based on Stanitz's inverse methods are presented in this paper. Effects of boundary layer growth on the blade surface has also been incorporated in this code. Turbine vane was designed making use of this program and a four-bladed cascade was fabricated. It was tested in a blow down wind tunnel for different blowing pressures and stagger angles. Mach number distribution was determined from measured static pressure on the suction and pressure surfaces of the blade. Based on stream filament technique a computer code was developed to predict the characteristics of flow thorough a blade cascade. Results of this study show reasonable agreement between experimentally obtained Mach number distribution and the initially prescribed as well as analytically predicted Mach number distributions

Coverage Issues in Wireless Ad-Hoc Sensor Networks

    Get PDF
Wireless Ad-Hoc sensor networks have a broad range of applications in the military, vigilance, environment monitoring, and healthcare fields. Coverage of the sensor networks describes how well an area is monitored. The coverage problem has been studied extensively, especially when combined with connectivity and well-organized. Coverage is a typical problem in the wireless sensor networks to fulfil issued sensing tasks. In general, sensing analysis represents how well an area is monitored by sensors. The quality of the sensor network can be reflected by levels of coverage and connectivity that it offers. The coverage issues have been studied extensively, especially when combined with connectivity and energy efficiency. Constructing a connected fully covered, and energy efficient sensor network is valuable for real world applications due to limited resources of sensor nodes. The survey recent contributions addressing energy efficient coverage problems in the context of static WASNs, networks in which sensor nodes do not move once they are deployed and present in some detail of the algorithms, assumptions, and results. A comprehensive comparison among these approaches is given from perspective of design objectives, assumptions, algorithm attributes and related results

A STUDY ON DENITRIFICATION IN A FLUIDIZED BED BIOREACTOR

    Get PDF
The work involves experimental investigation on biological denitrification in a fluidized bed reactor under anaerobic conditions using the microorganism Pseudomonas Stutzeri and plastic beads as fluidizing medium. The influence of various parameters like pH, initial nitrate concentration, Carbon/Nitrogen ratio, hydraulic retention time on nitrate-nitrogen removal rate from synthetic effluent prepared at the laboratory were studied in detail. The optimum operating conditions of pH, initial nitrate concentration, Carbon/Nitrogen ratio and flow rate obtained are 7.0–7.5, 15 mg/l, 1.5–2.0 and 4.41 x 10-5 m3/s respectively

Performance analysis of PV powered multilevel inverter

This article deals with the PV based DC/DC boost chopper integrated nine level inverter. This topology requires 7 switches in minimum to obtain a nine level stepped wave output. So the main objective of this paper is to develop a 9 level AC output using PV based DC/DC boost chopper. In the case of conventional multi-level inverter, 16 switches were utilized and the number of sources needed was also more. Here the proposed system comprises of single PV panel and the switches used are also less. Also PV is integrated with DC/DC boost chopper is used to increase the source input level of the inverter. Using MATLAB platform, the proposed system is simulated with a resistive and inductive load. The similar results are obtained in prototype which validates the designed converter

Lateral location of placenta on ultrasound as a predictive test for preeclampsia

    Get PDF
Background: Hypertensive disorders represent the most common medical complication of pregnancy Pre-eclampsia complicates approximately 2-7% of pregnancies and is a major cause of maternal and perinatal morbidity This has led to the interest in screening. The placenta is located laterally in majority of patients with abnormal flow velocity waveforms. In the light of these observations, we designed a prospective study to find out whether the lateral location of placenta as seen by ultrasound at II and III trimester of gestation can be used to predict the development of preeclampsia. Methods: A prospective observational study was done in PESIMSR, Kuppam, Andhra Pradesh. The aim of the study was to find out whether placental laterality as determined by ultrasound can be used as a predictor of development of gestational hypertension, development of preeclampsia/eclampsia During the study period of November 2013 to November 2014, all antenatal women attending the OPD in II and III trimester without any medical disorders likeDM, HTN, renal disease, cardiac disease or smoking, who undergo ultrasound in II and III trimester were included. The location of the placenta was determined by real time ultrasound in II and III trimester. The placenta will be classified as central when it is equally distributed between the right and the left side of the uterus irrespective of anterior, posterior or fundal position. When 75% or more of the placental mass is to one side of the midline, it is classified as unilateral right or left placenta. subjects were followed upto delivery for development of gestational hypertension/ preeclampsia/eclampsia as per the ACOG criteria. Results: 66% patients in the lateral placenta group developed preeclampsia. Only 36%in the central group developed preeclampsia. The association of lateral placenta as a predictor of preeclampsia had a P value of <0.001 which is statistically significant. Incidence of preclampsia is more in primigravidas compared to multigravidas. Most of the pre eclamptics had their onset at 29 – 32 weeks of gestation. Conclusions: The study shows that placental position determined by ultrasonogram in II and III trimester of gestation is an excellent screening tool for the prediction of pre-eclampsia. The test is ideal because it is simple, non-invasive, cost effective and convenient to the women

Chemical Characterisation of Bulk and Melt-spun Ribbons of NiMnIn alloy using Inductively Coupled Plasma Optical Emission Spectrometry

    Get PDF
Method development for the analysis of NiMnIn, a new magnetocaloric effect (MCE) material using inductively coupled plasma optical emission spectrometry (ICPOES) is discussed. Spectral interference of Ni and Mn on the analysis of In were studied. The process of method validation was carried out using various analytical techniques like conventional wet chemical techniques and instrumental techniques such as atomic absorption spectrometry. All the techniques show a close agreement in values, thus this method could be applied for regular analysis of NiMnIn alloys. A comparative chemical analysis of bulk and melt-spun ribbons of this alloy is also discussed.Defence Science Journal, 2011, 61(3), pp.270-274, DOI:http://dx.doi.org/10.14429/dsj.61.39
