    This paper presents a proposal for a recognition model for the appraisal value of sentences. It is based on splitting the text into independent sentences (full stops) and then analysing the appraisal elements contained in each sentence according to the previous value in the appraisal lexicon. In this lexicon, positive words are assigned a positive coefficient (+1) and negative words a negative coefficient (-1). We take into account word such as ?too?, ?little? (when it is not ?a bit?), ?less?, and ?nothing? than can modify the polarity degree of lexical unit when appear in the nearby environment. If any of these elements are present, then the previous coefficient will be multiplied by (-1), that is, they will change their sign. Our results show a nearly theoretical effectiveness of 90%, despite not achieving the recognition (or misrecognition) of implicit elements. These elements represent approximately 4% of the total of sentences analysed for appraisal and include the errors in the recognition of coordinated sentences. On the one hand, we found that 3.6 % of the sentences could not be recognized because they use different connectors than those included in the model; on the other hand, we found that in 8.6% of the sentences despite using some of the described connectors could not be applied the rules we have developed. The percentage relative to the whole group of appraisal sentences in the corpus was approximately of 5%

    Adaptation to an Intracellular Lifestyle by a Nitrogen-Fixing, Heterocyst-Forming Cyanobacterial Endosymbiont of a Diatom

    The symbiosis between the diatom Hemiaulus hauckii and the heterocyst-forming cyanobacterium Richelia intracellularis makes an important contribution to new production in the world’s oceans, but its study is limited by short-term survival in the laboratory. In this symbiosis, R. intracellularis fixes atmospheric dinitrogen in the heterocyst and provides H. hauckii with fixed nitrogen. Here, we conducted an electron microscopy study of H. hauckii and found that the filaments of the R. intracellularis symbiont, typically composed of one terminal heterocyst and three or four vegetative cells, are located in the diatom’s cytoplasm not enclosed by a host membrane. A second prokaryotic cell was also detected in the cytoplasm of H. hauckii, but observations were infrequent. The heterocysts of R. intracellularis differ from those of free-living heterocyst-forming cyanobacteria in that the specific components of the heterocyst envelope seem to be located in the periplasmic space instead of outside the outer membrane. This specialized arrangement of the heterocyst envelope and a possible association of the cyanobacterium with oxygen-respiring mitochondria may be important for protection of the nitrogen-fixing enzyme, nitrogenase, from photosynthetically produced oxygen. The cell envelope of the vegetative cells of R. intracellularis contained numerous membrane vesicles that resemble the outer-inner membrane vesicles of Gram-negative bacteria. These vesicles can export cytoplasmic material from the bacterial cell and, therefore, may represent a vehicle for transfer of fixed nitrogen from R. intracellularis to the diatom’s cytoplasm. The specific morphological features of R. intracellularis described here, together with its known streamlined genome, likely represent specific adaptations of this cyanobacterium to an intracellular lifestyle

    Could the understanding of the strawberry softening process benefit from aquaporins?

    The Major Intrinsic Protein (MIP) family includes a main group of key channels known as aquaporins (AQPs), described for sharing a very conservative structure with a pore that facilitates water and/or solute permeation. Since its first member was functionally reported in 1992, AQPs were found to be abundantly expressed in all kingdoms. Although many roles have been attributed to these small integral proteins, it is becoming evident that the number and type of AQPs within a membrane are major determinants of its water transport capacity. Thus, their presence is opening new perspectives to understand the role of plant cell membrane water transport in physiological and developmental processes. Strawberry is a fleshy fruit characterized by a rapid loss of firmness during ripening, limiting the shelf-life of these fruit. Even though fruit texture is influenced by various factors like structural integrity of primary cell wall, sugar accumulation, and the turgor pressure generated within cells by osmosis, main attention has been focused on degradation of cell wall polysaccharides. Turgor pressure, in spite of long being mentioned as a possible player in softening during fruit development, has not received proper consideration. In the light of AQP outbreak, it is worth questioning how these channels could contribute to strawberry fruit softening. In an attempt to answer this question, this review summarizes the current available information on plant AQPs, extending the knowledge to those specifically expressed in fruits to finally discuss the recent reported findings in strawberry, particularly those associated with ripening and softening processes.Fil: Alleva, Karina Edith.     Environmental education through research as a pedagogical strategy in school

    En Colombia los lineamientos curriculares del Ministerio de Educación Nacional buscan promover una formación en ciencia tecnología e innovación, mediante estrategias estructuradas y articuladas al plan de estudios para la enseñanza de investigación en el aula. El estudio tiene como objetivo promover la educación ambiental mediante la investigación como Estrategia Pedagógica (IEP), en la escuela. Se realizó un estudio de tipo cualitativo, utilizando el modelo de investigación por acción, desde un diseño descriptivo, para la recolección de datos se utilizó el diario de campo y la observación participante, la muestra estuvo conformada por ciento veinte (120) estudiantes de los grados, noveno, decimo y once con edades que oscilaron entre los catorce (14) y (18) años de edad de la Institución educativa la Candelaria. Los resultados arrojaron proyectos productivos ambientales transversales a las diferentes áreas del currículo que fueron socializados en una feria institucional como evento de apropiación social del conocimiento, aportando a las necesidades propias del municipio de Zona Bananera - Magdalena.In Colombia, the curricular guidelines of the Ministry of National Education seek to promote training in science, technology and innovation, through structured strategies and articulated to the curriculum for the teaching of research in the classroom. The objective of the study is to promote environmental education through research as a Pedagogical Strategy (IEP) at school. A qualitative study was carried out, using the action research model, from a descriptive design, for the data collection was used field diary and participant observation, the sample consisted of one hundred twenty (120) students of the degrees ninth and eleventh of the educational institution La Candelaria. The results yielded environmental productive projects transversal to the different areas of the curriculum that were socialized in an institutional fair as an event of social appropriation of knowledge, contributing to the needs of the municipality of Zona Bananera - Magdalena

    Currently the technology is the most important engine for prosperity of enterprises, so these must define the development of new products to a culture of innovation. This work describes the advanced technologies of modeling and business management. For this purpose, proposed a methodology that combines elements of the retrospective documentary and descriptive research. The theoretical corpus, I will structure from the approaches tested and examined by scholars, as well as the experience of researchers in the field of technology and information from the web.
