On the Reliability of LTE Random Access: Performance Bounds for Machine-to-Machine Burst Resolution Time
Random Access Channel (RACH) has been identified as one of the major
bottlenecks for accommodating massive number of machine-to-machine (M2M) users
in LTE networks, especially for the case of burst arrival of connection
requests. As a consequence, the burst resolution problem has sparked a large
number of works in the area, analyzing and optimizing the average performance
of RACH. However, the understanding of what are the probabilistic performance
limits of RACH is still missing. To address this limitation, in the paper, we
investigate the reliability of RACH with access class barring (ACB). We model
RACH as a queuing system, and apply stochastic network calculus to derive
probabilistic performance bounds for burst resolution time, i.e., the worst
case time it takes to connect a burst of M2M devices to the base station. We
illustrate the accuracy of the proposed methodology and its potential

Diversification versus concentration trends in the housing construction and stock across Siberian regions
Relevance. The processes of regionalization and localization are currently intensifying in the Siberian macro-region, where local markets act as drivers of socio-economic development. We associate their development with the diversification of the sectoral structure. Nevertheless, the demographic conditions contribute to the growth of spatial concentration, which affects the sustainability of the housing construction structure and negatively affects the housing market.Research objective. This study aims to analyze the economic consequences of the diversification-related processes and the degree of the spatial concentration of these effects in Siberian regions. Data and methods. The study relies on official databases for the calculation of the Herfindahl-Hirschmann and Gini-Struck coefficients. Econometric analysis was conducted with the help of E-Views software.Results. The concentration phenomenon in housing construction becomes indirectly dependent on regional diversification of the urban and rural housing stock, with an intense and natural correlation for the urban housing stock, which is stronger than in the case of the rural housing stock. The multifactorial model of concentration in housing construction indirectly depends on the combined regional diversification of incomes and population and the urban or rural stock. Conclusions. The evolution of the Siberian macro-region is shaped by the increasing urbanization and localization processes, which exacerbate the insufficient level of diversification. These factors are detrimental to the development of the local markets of resources; they have a negative effect on the rate of housing construction and on the supply in the housing market.

Metabolic modulation by CDK4/6 inhibitor promotes chemokine-mediated recruitment of T cells into mammary tumors
Inhibitors of cyclin-dependent kinases 4 and 6 (CDK4/6i) delay progression of metastatic breast cancer. However, complete responses are uncommon and tumors eventually relapse. Here, we show that CDK4/6i can enhance efficacy of T cell-based therapies, such as adoptive T cell transfer or T cell-activating antibodies anti-OX40/anti-4-1BB, in murine breast cancer models. Chemokines Modulate Immune Surveillance in Tumorigenesis, Metastasis, and Response to Immunotherapy
Chemokines are small secreted proteins that orchestrate migration and positioning of immune cells within the tissues. Chemokines are essential for the function of the immune system. Accumulating evidence suggest that chemokines play important roles in tumor microenvironment. In this review we discuss an association of chemokine expression and activity within the tumor microenvironment with cancer outcome. We summarize regulation of immune cell recruitment into the tumor by chemokine-chemokine receptor interactions and describe evidence implicating chemokines in promotion of the “inflamed” immune-cell enriched tumor microenvironment. We review both tumor-promoting function of chemokines, such as regulation of tumor metastasis, and beneficial chemokine roles, including stimulation of anti-tumor immunity and response to immunotherapy. Finally, we discuss the therapeutic strategies target tumor-promoting chemokines or induce/deliver beneficial chemokines within the tumor focusing on pre-clinical studies and clinical trials going forward.
