    Frequency switchable dual-band branch-line coupler

    In this paper, silicon switches are implemented in the design of frequency switchable dual-band branch-line coupler. Frequency switching is achieved by increasing the power of the laser applied to the highly resistive silicon wafer and changing the properties of silicon under optical illumination. The advantages of this approach are high-speed switching, electromagnetic transparency (no interference) and thermal and electrical isolation between the coupler and the control circuit. A frequency shift of 35% and 10% has been achieved from all switches off to all switches on in lower (900 MHz) and upper (1800 MHz) frequency bands, respectively

    General Equations for the Induced Phase Shift in Resonant Electro-Optic Modulators

    We derive general equations to calculate the electrooptically induced optical phase shift in resonantly enhanced modulators. The equations are useful in designing modulator electrodes with optimal length and optimal mismatch between electrical and optical velocities. We demonstrate the existence of an optimal velocity mismatch depending on the resonant mode used.Peer Reviewe

    Investigating factors affecting photoconductive microwave switch performance using 3D em simulation

    A series of 3D EM simulation models are presented in order to determine the effect that conductivity profile, passivation layer and connection method have on the transmission performance of a photoconductive microwave switch. The use of 3D EM simulation can help quantify the benefit and impact of different approaches before the manufacture stage. The aim is to find methods to reduce insertion loss of the switch to provide maximum efficiency when the device is integrated into reconfigurable applications. Results show improvement to the transmission is possible by altering passivation thickness and designing optical feed to maintain signal planarity

    International audienceCompetencies management in the industry is one of the most important keys in order to obtain good performance with production means. Especially in maintenance services field where the dierent practical knowledges or skills are their working tools. We address, in this paper, the both assignment and scheduling problem that can be found in a maintenance service. Each task that has to be performed is characterized by a competence level required. Then, the decision problem of assignment and scheduling lead to find the good resource and the good time to do the task. For human resources, all competence levels are dierent, they are considered as unrelated parallel machines. Our aim is to assign dynamically new tasks to the adequate resources by giving to the maintenance expert a choice between the robustest possibilities

    Four Wave Mixing Four Wave Mixing (FWM) adalah suatu efek ketidaklinieran fiber optik. FWM dapat diminimalkan pada sistem dense wavelength division multiplexing dengan menggunakan amplifier Semiconductor Optical Amplifier (SOA) dengan mengatur parameter SOA, yaitu Optical Confinement Factor (OCF) dan differential gain. Penelitian ini menunjukan differential gain pada 3,0 x 10-20 m 2 menghasilkan level daya FWM minimal. Nilai parameter OCF berbanding lurus terhadap level daya FWM dan bit erro rate. Semakin besar OCF, semakin besar pula level daya FWM dan bit error rate yang dihasilkan, sehingga dapat menurunkan kinerja sistem. Nilai OCF maksimal yang dapat diberikan kepada sistem adalah 0,7 dengan Bit error rate 5,73 x 10-10 untuk Postline, 9,35 x 10-14 untuk Inline, dan 9,28 x 10-14 untuk Preline.
