    Fracturas diafisarias de húmero : enclavijamiento intramedular con agujas de Hackethal por vía epicondílea lateral

    Presentamos un estudio de 58 pacientes con fracturas diafisarias de húmero tratados mediante enclavijamiento intramedular con agujas de Hackethal por la vía epicondílea lateral. Se analizan las indicaciones quirúrgicas y la técnica empleada y se valoran los resultados finales tanto clínica como radiológicamente, obteniendo buenos resultados en el 85% de los casos y malos en el 15%. La causa principal de estos malos resultados fue la aparición de pseudoartrosis, relacionándose ésta con diástasis del foco de fractura después de la reducción y la existencia de fuerzas distractoras y rotacionales en los métodos de inmovilización postquirúrgica.This study was based on 58 patients with diaphyseal fractures of the humerus, treated by Hackethal fascicular intramedullary pinning inserted at the lateral humeral epicondyle. We analysed the indications for the operation using the modified Hackethal technique. We evaluated the final clinical and radiological results, obtaining 85% good results and 15% poor results. The main cause for these poor results was the appearance of no-union due to diastasis of the fracture focus after reduction and the presence of traction and rotational forces in the postoperative inmobilization methods

    Aproximación a la Clasificación del Deterioro Cognitivo Leve (DCL) en una muestra de personas mayores institucionalizadas

    Actualmente, se considera que el envejecimiento puede clasificarse en tres tipos, el normal, el patológico, donde se encontraría el deterioro cognitivo leve (DCL) y finalmente, el envejecimiento óptimo. A partir de los resultados obtenidos en diferentes pruebas de evaluación neuropsicológica, se plantea como objetivo, establecer grupos diagnósticos de DCL, para describirlos y compararlos. La aplicación de las pruebas se realiza a 20 personas de entre 65 y 94 años, residentes en un centro para mayores de Valencia, España. Los resultados mostraron que, el grupo más frecuente fue el de DCL multidominio no amnésico, y que el menos frecuente el DCL amnésico. Pruebas como el WMS dígitos, la prueba del test Barcelona de evocación categoría, y la de imágenes superpuestas; al igual que las pruebas de funcionamiento cognitivo general, MEC y MoCA, nos demuestran que existen diferencias entre los grupos de DCL

    Search for supersymmetry in electroweak production with photons and large missing transverse energy in pp collisions at √s=8TeV

    Open Access funded by SCOAP³ - Sponsoring Consortium for Open Access Publishing in Particle Physics.-- et al.Results are reported from a search for supersymmetry with gauge-mediated supersymmetry breaking in electroweak production. Final states with photons and large missing transverse energy ( EmissT ) were examined. The data sample was collected in pp collisions at √s=8TeV with the CMS detector at the LHC and corresponds to 7.4fb. The analysis focuses on scenarios in which the lightest neutralino has bino- or wino-like components, resulting in decays to photons and gravitinos, where the gravitinos escape undetected. The data were obtained using a specially designed trigger with dedicated low thresholds, providing good sensitivity to signatures with photons, EmissT , and low hadronic energy. No excess of events over the standard model expectation is observed. The results are interpreted using the model of general gauge mediation. With the wino mass fixed at 10GeV above that of the bino, wino masses below 710GeV are excluded at 95% confidence level. Constraints are also set in the context of two simplified models, for which the analysis sets the lowest cross section limits on the electroweak production of supersymmetric particles.Funded by SCOAP3.Peer Reviewe

    Search for narrow resonances decaying to dijets in proton-proton collisions at √s=13 TeV

    et al.A search for narrow resonances in proton-proton collisions at √s=13  TeV is presented. The invariant mass distribution of the two leading jets is measured with the CMS detector using a data set corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 2.4  fb−1. The highest observed dijet mass is 6.1 TeV. The distribution is smooth and no evidence for resonant particles is observed. Upper limits at 95% confidence level are set on the production cross section for narrow resonances with masses above 1.5 TeV. When interpreted in the context of specific models, the limits exclude string resonances with masses below 7.0 TeV, scalar diquarks below 6.0 TeV, axigluons and colorons below 5.1 TeV, excited quarks below 5.0 TeV, color-octet scalars below 3.1 TeV, and W′ bosons below 2.6 TeV.     Measurements of tt¯ spin correlations and top quark polarization using dilepton final states in pp collisions at √s=8  TeV

    et al.Measurements of the top quark-antiquark (tt¯) spin correlations and the top quark polarization are presented for tt¯ pairs produced in pp collisions at √s=8  TeV. The data correspond to an integrated luminosity of 19.5  fb−1 collected with the CMS detector at the LHC. The measurements are performed using events with two oppositely charged leptons (electrons or muons) and two or more jets, where at least one of the jets is identified as originating from a bottom quark. The spin correlations and polarization are measured from the angular distributions of the two selected leptons, both inclusively and differentially, with respect to the invariant mass, rapidity, and transverse momentum of the tt¯ system. The measurements are unfolded to the parton level and found to be in agreement with predictions of the standard model. A search for new physics in the form of anomalous top quark chromo moments is performed.     Fine synchronization of the CMS muon drift-tube local trigger using cosmic rays

    Performance of the CMS Level-1 trigger during commissioning with cosmic ray muons and LHC beams

This paper describes the trigger components used, the algorithms that were executed, and the trigger synchronisation. Using data from extended cosmic ray runs, the muon, electron/photon, and jet triggers have been validated, and their performance evaluated.     Alignment of the CMS muon system with cosmic-ray and beam-halo muons

After alignment, the resolution of the most sensitive coordinate is 80 microns for the relative positions of superlayers in the same barrel chamber and 270 microns for the relative positions of endcap chambers in the same ring structure. The resolution on the position of the central barrel chambers relative to the tracker is comprised between two extreme estimates, 200 and 700 microns, provided by two complementary studies.     Alignment of the CMS silicon tracker during commissioning with cosmic rays

The positions of the modules were determined with respect to cosmic ray trajectories to an average precision of 3–4 microns RMS in the barrel and 3–14 microns RMS in the endcap in the most sensitive coordinate. The results have been validated by several studies, including laser beam cross-checks, track fit self-consistency, track residuals in overlapping module regions, and track parameter resolution, and are compared with predictions obtained from simulation. Correlated systematic effects have been investigated.     Commissioning and performance of the CMS silicon strip tracker with cosmic ray muons

Cosmic ray muons were detected in the muon chambers and used to trigger the readout of all CMS sub-detectors. About 15 million events with a muon in the tracker were collected. The efficiency of hit and track reconstruction were measured to be higher than 99% and consistent with expectations from Monte Carlo simulation.
