    Reliable Integrated Satellite Terrestrial Communications using MIMO for Mitigation of Microwave Absorption by Earths Oxygen

    Microwaves are used to communicate with satellite and terrestrial communication networks. But as microwaves pass through the Earth’s atmosphere, the oxygen gas absorbs microwave. In this 5G era, when the whole world is moving towards high data-rates and reliable communications, this absorption affects the data transmission in Integrated Satellite/Terrestrial Communication (ISTC) systems, which leads to degradation of the system performance. The multiple-input-multiple-output (MIMO) technology has become a boon for modern wireless communication systems to achieve the necessities of higher data-rates and communication reliability. The paper analyses the MIMO effect on block error rate (BLER), error vector magnitude (EVM) and throughput performance of the data transmission with different MIMO configurations. The paper establishes that better data-rates as well as reliable data communication is achieved with higher order MIMO configurations. MIMO 8×1 provides 5, 20 and 42.5 times improved performance to BLER; 5.26%, 25% and 81.82% in throughput; and 10.34%, 23.07% and 28% in EVM calculations as comparable to MIMO 4×1, MIMO 2×1 and SISO 1×1, respectively at 15 dB signal-to-noise ratio (SNR). The authors also give a new concept of multi-cellular layers based mobile communication network, useful for future smart cities

    Impact Of Radical And Incremental Curriculum Changes On Students

    College curricula undergo changes periodically. This case discusses the various change management strategies employed by the faculty of a midwestern university in implementing incremental and radical change in the business school curriculum. It also analyzes the impact of these changes on student perceptions of the course and of the instructor. Our analysis reveals interesting trends in student responses over a seven year span. We find that students initially resist both types of changes, although the resistance is greater in the case of radical changes. Nevertheless, they eventually view both types of changes as adding value to the curriculum. However, the perception of value addition is temporary, lasting longer for radical change (seven semesters) than for incremental change (five semesters). This suggests that updating of curricula is required on an ongoing basis

PSEs controlled by the government played an instrumental role in servicing the country in infrastructure and public services. Since there were lots of political intervention because of which the PSEs derailed from the profit making objective and turned to drainage of wealth which were once referred to be temples of modern India. The PSEs were also suddenly exposed to Global competition which they were not used for operating under protected environment. The level playing field and competition affected the financial performances of PSEs. The paper elucidates the various financial ratios over a period of 10 years and analyzed the performance of the PSEs resurrecting focusing on other factors of their sustainability

    Trends In IT Human Resources And Its Impact On Curriculum Design

    In light of rapid changes in technology and business, institutions of higher education face the difficult task of adapting their curriculum to be general enough to cover all the core concepts of the discipline while being specific enough to prepare students with the knowledge and skills needed by businesses. The Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) forecasts that the demand for IT professionals in the United States will continue to increase but the demand will not be evenly distributed across all areas. The BLS breaks future demand into job categories but it does not explore the meta-trends that will drive future job growth and is thus of limited value for curriculum development purposes. This paper reviews existing literature and develops a conceptual framework of the meta-trends driving job growth. This framework is intended to be used as a guide by Information Technology curriculum committees to aid in establishing a curriculum that meets the needs of key stakeholders while avoiding the trap of chasing the latest fads

    A Hand-Eye-Arm Coordinated System

    In this paper we present the description and experiments with a tightly coupled Hand-Eye-Arm manipulatory system. We explain the philosophy and the motivation for building a tightly coupled system that actually consists of very autonomous modules that communicate with each other via a central coordinator. We describe each of the modules in the system and their interactions with each other. We highlight the need for sensory driven manipulation, and explain how the above system, where the hand is equipped with multiple tactile sensors, is capable of both manipulating unknown objects, but also detecting and complying in the case of collisions. We explain the partition of the control of the system into various closed loops, representing coordination both at the level of gross manipulator motions as well as fine motions. We describe the various modes that the system can work in, as well as some of the experiments that are being currently performed using this system

    Description of six new species of the genus Cornudiscoides Kulkarni, 1969 (Monogenoidea: Dactylogyridae) from two catfish, Mystus, Scopoli, 1777 and Sperata Holly, 1939, with a note on its biodiversity

    The genus Cornudisoides Kulkarni, 1969 is a specialist monogenoid reported from two fish host, Mystus and Sperata. Despite their ecological importance, Cornudiscoides diversity remains unexplored, and the taxonomic description of nominal species is inadequate. The present study was performed to chart the biodiversity of the genus Cornudiscoides and defined the characters to identify their species quickly and efficiently using unambiguous characters. Examination of fish hosts collected from different localities of Uttar Pradesh revealed 12 known and 6 new species of Cornudiscoides. Since the original description of known species lacked some salient features, the present study has redescribed them and added new host records. The new species are described: C. tripathii sp. nov., C. lucknowensis sp. nov., C. speratai sp. nov., C. indicus sp. nov., C. kulkarnii sp. nov. and C. falcatum sp. nov. They have distinct copulatory complexes and vaginal armatures. A detail of the species diversity of Cornudisoides, their type host, new host record type locality, additional localities and major distinguishable characters would be helpful to understand the diversity of these parasites
