Nature and Heroic Gaucho in tangles of history: Foucauldian stresses

O presente artigo tem como objetivo colocar em evidência o conceito de História do Presente e Genealogia, a partir dos estudos do filósofo francês Michel Foucault. Nossa proposta está em problematizar a emergência de saberes, que atrelados a relações de força, vem fabricando uma natureza marcada por ideal de beleza e romantismo no Pampa do Rio Grande do Sul. Demarcamos ainda condições de emergência para constituição de um sujeito gaúcho tomado como herói a partir de alguns acontecimentos históricos e da música pampeana. Apoiadas no pensamento de Michel Foucault, problematizamos a fabricação de um espaço geográfico e cultural marcado pela beleza, pela fartura – por glórias e façanhas. Vale tensionar a história problematizando como relações saber-poder nos fabricam enquanto sujeitos pampeanos contemporâneos. É no desejo de tensionar verdades estabelecidas que nos subjetivam enquanto sujeitos fabricados e imiscuídos nas tramas da história que este texto foi escrito. Políticas de formação e subjetividades gaúchas merecem um olhar cuidadoso e provocativo.The aim of this paper is to put in evidence the concept of the History of Present and Genealogy, starting from studies of the French philosopher Michel Foucault. Our proposal is in the problematization of the emergency of knowledge that, together with relations of strength, is creating a natural environment known for the idea of beauty and romanticism in the Pampa of Rio Grande do Sul. We demarcated, also, the conditions of emergency for the constitution of a gaucho individual seen as a hero since historical events and pampeana music. Based on Michel Foucault’s ideas, we problematized the elaboration of a geographic and cultural space known for its beauty, abundance, glories, and achievements. It is worth to stress the history when problematizing how relations between knowledge and power make the contemporary pampeano individual. It is in the intention of stressing established truths, which lead to a subjectivity of the individual constituted and involved in tangles of history, that this paper was written. Politics of gaucho formations and subjectivities deserve a careful and serious observation

O “bom professor” na percepção de discentes do Programa de Pós-Graduação em Zootecnia da FAEM/UFPEL

This study was aimed to inquire about  the concept of “efficient teacher” for graduate students of the Graduate Program in Animal Science (FAEM – Eliseu Maciel Agronomy School: UFPEL – Federal University of Pelotas). The research is characterized as qualitative of the ethnographic type. A questionnaire and a semi-structured interview were used to collect data. These instruments were answered by six (6) doctoral students of the Program. We perceived through the analysis of convergences and divergences in  the obtained answers  that the “efficient teacher” is the one who is well versed in his/her specific area, chooses adequate forms to introduce  the subject-matter in class, maintains an favorable affective relationship with the students and, furthermore, makes use of pedagogic knowledge in daily classroom work.El presente estudio de investigación se estableció con el objetivo de averiguar el concepto de “buen profesor” para los alumnos del Programa de Posgrado en Zootecnia de la Facultad de Agronomía Eliseu Maciel de la Universidad Federal de Pelotas - Brasil. El diseño de la investigación se caracteriza como cualitativa etnográfica. Fueron utilizadas una encuesta y una entrevista para la obtención de los datos. Estos instrumentos fueron direccionados y respondidos por seis estudiantes de doctorado del programa de posgrado. Hemos percibido, a partir del análisis de las convergencias y divergencias en las respuestas obtenidas, que el “buen profesor” es aquél que conoce el contenido teórico y práctico de su específica área, él que elige maneras adecuadas para presentar el contenido, mantiene un relacionamiento afectivo positivo con el alumno, y además, dispone de saberes pedagógicos el cuotidiano en el aula.Este estudo tem como objetivo investigar o conceito de “bom professor” para os discentes do Programa de Pós-Graduação em Zootecnia da Faculdade de Agronomia Eliseu Maciel da Universidade Federal de Pelotas. A pesquisa caracteriza-se como qualitativa do tipo etnográfico. Foi utilizado um questionário e uma entrevista semi-estruturada para a coleta de dados. Tais instrumentos foram respondidos por seis doutorandos do referido Programa. Percebemos, através da análise das convergências e divergências das respostas obtidas, que o “bom professor” é aquele que conhece o conteúdo teórico-prático de sua área específica, escolhe formas adequadas para apresentar a matéria, mantém um favorável relacionamento afetivo com o aluno e, ainda, se utiliza de saberes pedagógicos no cotidiano da sala de aula

SARS-CoV-2 uses CD4 to infect T helper lymphocytes

The severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) is the agent of a major global outbreak of respiratory tract disease known as Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19). SARS-CoV-2 infects mainly lungs and may cause several immune-related complications, such as lymphocytopenia and cytokine storm, which are associated with the severity of the disease and predict mortality. The mechanism by which SARS-CoV-2 infection may result in immune system dysfunction is still not fully understood. Here, we show that SARS-CoV-2 infects human CD4+ T helper cells, but not CD8+ T cells, and is present in blood and bronchoalveolar lavage T helper cells of severe COVID-19 patients. We demonstrated that SARS-CoV-2 spike glycoprotein (S) directly binds to the CD4 molecule, which in turn mediates the entry of SARS-CoV-2 in T helper cells. This leads to impaired CD4 T cell function and may cause cell death. SARS-CoV-2-infected T helper cells express higher levels of IL-10, which is associated with viral persistence and disease severity. Thus, CD4-mediated SARS-CoV-2 infection of T helper cells may contribute to a poor immune response in COVID-19 patients.</p
