Towards Semi-automatic Generation of R2R Mappings
Translating data from linked data sources to the vocabulary that is expected by a linked data application requires a large number of mappings and can require a lot of structural transformations as well as complex property value transformations. The R2R mapping language is a language based on SPARQL for publishing expressive mappings on the web. However, the specification of R2R mappings is not an easy task. This paper therefore proposes the use of mapping patterns to semi-automatically generate R2R mappings between RDF vocabularies. In this paper, we first specify a mapping language with a high level of abstraction to transform data from a source ontology to a target ontology vocabulary. Second, we introduce the proposed mapping patterns. Finally, we present a method to semi-automatically generate R2R mappings using the mapping pattern
Framework for Live Synchronization of RDF Views of Relational Data
This Demo presents a framework for the live synchronization of an RDF view defined on top of relational database. In the proposed framework, rules are responsible for computing and publishing the changeset required for the RDB-RDF view to stay synchronized with the relational database. The computed changesets are then used for the incremental maintenance of the RDB_RDF views as well as application views. The Demo is based on the LinkedBrainz Live tool, developed to validate the proposed framework
A Fuzzy Approach for Data Quality Assessment of Linked Datasets
For several applications, an integrated view of linked data, denoted linked data mashup, is a critical requirement. Nonetheless, the quality of linked data mashups highly depends on the quality of the data sources. In this sense, it is essential to analyze data source quality and to make this information explicit to consumers of such data. This paper introduces a fuzzy ontology to represent the quality of linked data source. Furthermore, the paper shows the applicability of the fuzzy ontology in the process of evaluating data source quality used to build linked data mashups
Publishing and Consuming Semantic Views for Construction of Knowledge Graphs
The main goal of semantic integration is to provide a virtual semantic view that is semantically connected to
data so that applications can have integrated access to data sources through the virtual Knowledge Graph. A
semantic view can be published on a semantic portal to make it reusable for building Knowledge Graphs for
different applications. This paper takes the first step towards publishing a semantic view on a semantic portal.
This paper has three main contributions. First, we introduce a vocabulary for specifying semantic views. Then,
we introduce a vocabulary for specification and quality assessment of Knowledge Graph. Third, we describe
an approach to automatize the construction of a high-quality Knowledge Graph reusing a semantic view
Traumas e envenenamentos por animais aquáticos em pescadores de Coxim e Corumbá, estado de Mato Grosso do Sul, Brasil : identificação de agentes causadores, aspectos clĂnicos e medidas de primeiros socorros
The fishes of continental Brazil have socioeconomic importance due to their potential for sport fishing and commercial and subsistence uses, as seen in the Upper Paraguay River Basin, particularly in the municipalities of the Pantanal region, where it is the second largest economic activity. Injuries caused in professional fshermen are common and poorly studied, as in other regions of the country. Methods: Data were obtained from questionnaires and interviews with 100 professional fishermen, 50 in each municipality, between December 2008 and October 2009. Results: All the fishermen reported some kind of injury caused by fish stings (78% of injuries) and fish, alligator and snake bites (22%) on the hands(46% of cases)and feet (35% of cases). Most of the patients had mild symptoms. The most severe cases were associated with secondary bacterial infections and required specifc treatment and prolonged recovery associated with social and economic losses. Conclusions: The results of this study indicate that the stressful work conditions, inatention to basic preventive measures and carelessness were factors that contributed to accidents and that the toxicity and ability to infict mechanical trauma of some aquatic species, plus the inefective use of first aid and hospital treatment, contributed to the high morbidity and complications in many cases. Data from this study are relevant to the fishing communities of the Pantanal region, since they reveal high rates of accidents, lack of knowledge concerning frst aid, initial treatment, injury prevention and lack of medical follow-up of the population.
An Ontology-Based Framework for Heterogeneous Data Sources Integration
Ontologies have been extensively used to model domain-specific knowledge. The main reason for this success is due to their capability to be at the “semantic” level, away from data structures and implementation strategies. In addition, ontology formalisms have allowed certain kinds of reasoning to be automated within a reasonable time complexity. Due to ontology data independence and automated reasoning, ontologies are well suited for integrating heterogeneous databases, enabling interoperability among isparate systems, and specifying interfaces to independent, knowledge-based services
Functionalization of woven fabrics for antimicrobial capability using microcapsules with essential oils
[Excerpt] The functionalization of textiles covers multiple
objectives, such as the allocation of perfumes,
antimicrobials, some drugs, phase change
materials. Among these goals, the antimicrobial
capability ensures that microorganisms do not
thrive on textiles (Fig. 1), allowing users to use
these products safer in different scenarios. This
research evaluates the antimicrobial capacity of
cotton fabrics through the application of
microcapsules containing essential oils. The authors are grateful to the Agência Nacional de Inovação

Ontology-based question answering systems over knowledge bases: a survey
Searching relevant, specific information in big data volumes is quite a challenging task. Despite the numerous
strategies in the literature to tackle this problem, this task is usually carried out by resorting to a Question
Answering (QA) systems. There are many ways to build a QA system, such as heuristic approaches, machine
learning, and ontologies. Recent research focused their efforts on ontology-based methods since the resulting
QA systems can benefit from knowledge modeling. In this paper, we present a systematic literature survey on
ontology-based QA systems regarding any questions. We also detail the evaluation process carried out in these
systems and discuss how each approach differs from the others in terms of the challenges faced and strategies
employed. Finally, we present the most prominent research issues still open in the field
Effects of tofacitinib in early arthritis-induced bone loss in an adjuvant-induced arthritis rat model
Objectives: The main goal of this work was to analyse how treatment intervention with tofacitinib prevents the early disturbances of bone structure and mechanics in the rat model of adjuvant-induced arthritis. This is the first study to access the impact of tofacitinib on the skeletal bone effects of inflammation.
Methods: Fifty Wistar rats with adjuvant-induced arthritis were randomly housed in experimental groups, as follows: non-arthritic healthy group (n = 20); arthritic non-treated group (n = 20); and 10 animals undergoing tofacitinib treatment. Rats were monitored during 22 days after disease induction for the inflammatory score, ankle perimeter and body weight. Healthy non-arthritic rats were used as controls for comparison. After 22 days of disease progression, rats were killed and bone samples collected for histology, micro-CT, three-point bending and nanoindentation analysis. Blood samples were also collected for quantification of bone turnover markers and systemic cytokines. Results. At the tissue level, measured by nanoindentation, tofacitinib increased bone cortical and trabecular hardness. However, micro-CT and three-point bending tests revealed that tofacitinib did not reverse the effects of arthritis on the cortical and trabecular bone structure and on mechanical properties.
Conclusion: Possible reasons for these observations might be related to the mechanism of action of tofacitinib, which leads to direct interactions with bone metabolism, and/or to the kinetics of its bone effects, which might need longer exposure
Development of a plasma activated multifunctional polyester fabric using zinc oxide nanoparticles and citronella oil microcapsules
There is a high demand for the development of textiles possessing multifunctional properties for
outdoor, protective and health care applications. The coating of polyester (PES) textiles with metal
nanoparticles and essential oils may act in a synergistic mode to obtain materials with improved
antimicrobial and UV-protection properties. However, the lack of functional groups onto PES structure
makes the adhesion of particles a difficult task. In this work, PES fabric was activated by dielectric
barrier discharge (DBD) plasma treatment, and functionalized with zinc oxide nanoparticles (ZnO NPs)
and poly (methyl methacrylate) (PMMA)-citronella microcapsules by dip-coating
