Evaluation of the ππ\pi\pi scattering amplitude in the σ\sigma-channel at finite density

The ππ\pi\pi scattering amplitude in the σ\sigma-channel is studied at finite baryonic density in the framework of a chiral unitary approach which successfully reproduces the meson meson phase shifts and generates the f0f_0 and σ\sigma resonances in vacuum. We address here a new variety of mechanisms recently suggested to modify the ππ\pi\pi interaction in the medium, as well as the role of the ss-wave selfenergy, in addition to the pp-wave, in the dressing of the pion propagators.Comment: 26 pages, 17 figure

Dynamically Generated Open and Hidden Charm Meson Systems

    Get PDF
We will study open and hidden charm scalar meson resonances within two different models. The first one is a direct application of a chiral Lagrangian already used to study flavor symmetry breaking in Skyrme models. In another approach to the problem a SU(4) symmetric Lagrangian is built and the symmetry is broken down to SU(3) by identifying currents where heavy mesons are exchanged and suppressing those. Unitarization in couple channels leads to dynamical generation of resonances in both models, in particular a new hidden charm resonance with mass 3.7 GeV is predicted. The small differences between these models and with previous works will be discussed.Comment: 32 pages, 10 figures. Glueball enhancement by color de-confinement

    Get PDF
High energy heavy ion collisions lead to the formation of a strong coupling de-confined phase in which the lightest glueballs are numerous and stable. We analyze how their properties manifest themselves in experimental spectra and show that they provide a good signature for color de-confinement.Comment: 9 pages, 4 figure

Bound states of Θ+\Theta^+ in nuclei

We study the binding energy and the width of the Θ+\Theta^+ in nuclei, associated to the KNK N and KπN K \pi N components. The first one leads to negligible contributions while the second one leads to a sizeable attraction, enough to bind the Θ+\Theta^+ in nuclei. Pauli blocking and binding effects on the KNK N decay reduce considerably the Θ+\Theta^+ decay width in nuclei and medium effects associated to the KπN K \pi N component also lead to a very small width, as a consequence of which one finds separation between the bound levels considerably larger than the width of the states.Comment: Presentation in the 10th International Baryon Conference BARYON0

    Hidden Dirac Monopoles

Dirac showed that the existence of one magnetic pole in the universe could offer an explanation of the discrete nature of the electric charge. Magnetic poles appear naturally in most grand unified theories. Their discovery would be of greatest importance for particle physics and cosmology. The intense experimental search carried thus far has not met with success. I proposed a universe with magnetic poles which are not observed free because they hide in deeply bound monopole--anti-monopole states named monopolium. I discuss the realization of this proposal and its consistency with known cosmological features. I furthermore analyze its implications and the experimental signatures that confirm the scenario.Comment: Comments: 15 pages, 3 figure

    An SU(5)\otimesZ_{13} Grand Unification Model

We propose an SU(5) grand unified model with an invisible axion and the unification of the three coupling constants which is in agreement with the values, at MZM_Z, of α\alpha, αs\alpha_s, and sin2θW\sin^2\theta_W. A discrete, anomalous, Z13Z_{13} symmetry implies that the Peccei-Quinn symmetry is an automatic symmetry of the classical Lagrangian protecting, at the same time, the invisible axion against possible semi-classical gravity effects. Although the unification scale is of the order of the Peccei-Quinn scale the proton is stabilized by the fact that in this model the standard model fields form the SU(5) multiplets completed by new exotic fields and, also, because it is protected by the Z13Z_{13} symmetry.Comment: 14 pages, more typos correcte

Monitoring of agricultural land use in São Paulo State - Brazil using geotechnology approach.

    Get PDF
This study evaluated changes in agricultural land use on São Paulo state, Brazil, mapping and qualifying sugarcane expansion. The Percentage Change Index (PCi), calculated using official municipal census data was used to identify areas where sugarcane caused the main land use changes. The PCi provided the sugarcane percentage changes over 20 years of data. Detailed land cover maps for four municipalities with high PCi were created for two time periods (1990 and 2005), using satellite images. Results showed that sugarcane expansion over the 15 year period occurred mainly over pasture lands however, for one municipality, a high substitution of forest plantation areas was observed. Also, only one municipality showed a strong increase in short cycle crop agriculture, which also occurred over pasture areas. Results revealed that sugarcane expansion has a relationship with local economic aspects and the method used provided an important tool to define public policies and management decisions

Los problemas de matemáticas escolares de primaria, ¿son solo problemas para el aula?

    Get PDF
