Unleashing the Power of Hashtags in Tweet Analytics with Distributed Framework on Apache Storm

Twitter is a popular social network platform where users can interact and post texts of up to 280 characters called tweets. Hashtags, hyperlinked words in tweets, have increasingly become crucial for tweet retrieval and search. Using hashtags for tweet topic classification is a challenging problem because of context dependent among words, slangs, abbreviation and emoticons in a short tweet along with evolving use of hashtags. Since Twitter generates millions of tweets daily, tweet analytics is a fundamental problem of Big data stream that often requires a real-time Distributed processing. This paper proposes a distributed online approach to tweet topic classification with hashtags. Being implemented on Apache Storm, a distributed real time framework, our approach incrementally identifies and updates a set of strong predictors in the Na\"ive Bayes model for classifying each incoming tweet instance. Preliminary experiments show promising results with up to 97% accuracy and 37% increase in throughput on eight processors.Comment: IEEE International Conference on Big Data 201

Automating Estimation of Battery State of Charge Using Experimental Data in MatLab

This paper explains how to estimate the state of charge (SOC) of a battery using implementation of characteristics governing equations and and lookup table. Look up table containing experimental data like charging resistance, discharging resistance and battery voltage in an excel sheet. Estimation of state of charge as a function of voltage is simulated with the help of experimental data in the form of lookup table in Matlab simulink and mscript. A 4V battery was charged and discharged at a 2.3 ampere for an hour. Matlab simulunk model with m.scipt is developed to determine terminal voltage and state of charge is obtained at any given time

Contaminants Of Emerging Concern: Effects Of Known Neuroactive Agents, Antibiotics, And Chemically Uncharacterized Photodegredates On Behavior And Physiology Of Daphnia Pulex

Emerging contaminants such as pharmaceuticals and personal care products (PPCPs), herbicides, pesticides, plasticizers, fire retardants, polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs), and other organic waste are increasingly being detected in surface water and ground water. These contaminants can enter into the environment through wastewater treatment plant effluent and agriculture runoff. Many of these emerging contaminants tend to be biologically active at very low concentrations, typically occur in water as part of complex mixtures, and may impact biota at concentrations not detected using traditional toxicity tests (e.g. LC 50 tests). This study focuses on utilizing novel Daphnid optical bioassays to examine the toxicity of selected emerging contaminants. The chemicals selected for this study are found in surface water. Chemicals that are known neuroactive agents were selected. Anticholineesterase, physostigmine(drug) and diazinon(insecticides)[cholinergic system], and the antidepressant, fluoxetine[serotonergic system]. Triclosan and triclocarban are antibiotics that are used in antibacterial soaps and a number of other products, and these chemicals and their transformation products resulting form photodegredation. They do not have any known biological targets within Daphni. Two different optical tracking assays were used to evaluate changes in Daphnid swimming behavior Daphnid cardio-respiratory function as a result of exposure to diazinon, fluoxetine, triclosan, triclocarban and photodegredates of the two antibiotics

Attending persistent T cell activation in alopecia areata : A therapeutic option

    Get PDF
Alopecia areata an autoimmune disease of the hair follicle is most efficiently cured by contact sensitizers (Delayed type hypersenstivity). The curative effect is the expansion of myeloid derived suppressor cells which can suppress the autoreactive T cells and induce apoptosis via mitochondrial pathway. Another aspect is by hindrance of the antigen presentation to lymphocytes. CD44 with CD49d plays an important role in homing of lymphocytes and blockade of these can help cure Alopecia areata

Background: Anemia is one of the common significant factors responsible for the morbidity and mortality in elderly patients of age 60 years and above. The present was done with the aim to assess the consequences of anemia, and potential etiologies that increase risk of adverse events in geriatric population. Methods: This was a prospective observational study conducted at the department of pathology at Pt. Jawaharlal Nehru Medical College and associated Dr. B. R. A. M. Hospital, Raipur, Chhattisgarh, during the period from December 2011 to December 2012. A total of 150 patients with hemoglobin <12 gm% in female and <13 gm% in male satisfying the WHO criteria of anemia (hemoglobin (Hb) were included in the study. Detailed laboratory investigation of haemoglobin and relevant diagnostic tests were done in all the patients to identify the etiology. Results: The prevalence rate of anemia was 68.67%. Proportion of anemia in males was 56.6% and in females it was 43.4%.Fatigue was the most common symptom found in 87.88 % of patients. Overall mean MCV values in the study population were 80.12±10.71 (fL). Most of the patients were mild anaemic (45.3%). Normocytic-normochromic type of anemia was the most common type constituting 64%.Conclusions: There are no specific clinical guidelines to manage geriatric anemia at present. It is clear that anemia in the elderly should be evaluated, and the underlying cause should be identified at the earliest and treated whenever possible

Light Emission from Single Self-decoupled Molecules in a Scanning Tunnelling Microscope

In this work, a clear pathway is presented to achieve well-defined electronically decoupled chromophores from metallic leads without requiring additional insulating layers. To study such self-decoupled molecules, STM equipped with an efficient light detection setup has been used. Results show that the chromophores mounted on tripodal molecular platforms adsorbed on a gold surface present well-defined and efficient electroluminescence down to the single-molecule level
