    DETEKSI CEMARAN STAPHYLOCOCCUS AUREUS PADA DAGING AYAM YANG DIJUAL DI PASAR TRADISIONAL ULEE KARENG

    Penelitian bertujuan mengetahui keberadaan dan tingkat pencemaran Staphylococcus aureus pada daging ayam yang dijual di pasar tradisional Ulee Kareng. Penelitian ini menggunakan 8 sampel daging pada bagian dada ayam yang diperoleh dari 8 pedagang daging ayam di pasar tradisional Ulee Kareng. 8 sampel dibagi menjadi 2 bagian, 4 sampel diperoleh pada pagi hari dan 4 sampel berikutnya diperoleh pada siang hari. Pengkoleksian sampel dilakukan selama 2 hari berturut-turut. Seluruh sampel yang telah diperoleh diidentifikasi untuk mengetahui keberadaan bakteri S. aureus dengan cara dibiakan dalam media spesifik Mannitol Salt Agar (MSA) dan dilakukan pemeriksaan tingkat cemaran bakteri menggunakan metode Total Plate Count (TPC). Hasil penghitungan bakteri S. aureus pada daging ayam di hari pertama menunjukkan angka dengan rata-rata 15,2x104 cfu/g (pagi hari) dan 13,9x104 cfu/g (siang hari), sedangkan pada hari kedua menunjukkan tingkat cemaran dengan rata-rata 17,7x104 cfu/g (pagi hari) dan 7,1x104 cfu/g (siang hari). Dapat disimpulkan bahwa tingkat cemaran bakteri S. aureus pada daging ayam yang dijual di pasar tradisional Ulee Kareng digolongkan tidak higienis dikarenakan melebihi nilai standar SNI-2897-2008

    Mutu Karaginan Dan Kekuataan Gel Dari Rumput Laut Merah Kappaphycus Alvarezii

    The study aim to determine the quality and gel strength of carrageenan produced by red algae Kappaphycus alvarezii. The carrageenan was produced using various concentration, cooking time and water ratio that is 0.05, 0.1 and 0.15% potassium hydroxide; 1, 1.15, 1.25, 1.5, 3 and 4.5%, potassium chloride (KCl); cooking time 2h or 3h; and carrageenan and water ratio, 1:20L or 1:30L The results showed that the best treatment produced the highest gel strength (188.53 g/cm2) with 17.7% moisture content and 19.9% ash content. This condition was achived by mixing 0.15% KOH and 1.25% KCl, cooked for 2h with 1:20 carrageenan to water ratio. Keyword: Carageenan, Kappaphycus alvarezii, seaweed. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk menentukan mutu akhir karaginan dari rumput laut merah Kappaphycus alvarezii yang dibuat dengan 5 perlakuan berbeda. Perlakuan variasi konsentrasi pelarut KOH dan KCl, lama pemasakan, dan perbandingan air yang berbeda. Proses ekstraksi karaginan menggunakan pelarut KOH dengan konsentrasi 0,05%, 0,1 %, dan 0,15% sedangkan pelarut KCl dengan konsentrasi 1%, 1.15%, 1.25%, 1,5%, 3%, dan 4,5%, lama permasakan 2 dan 3 jam, dan perbandingan air 1:20 L dan 1:30 L. Hasil penelitian menunjukan bahwa perlakuaan F dengan konsentrasi KOH 0,15 + KCl 1,25 % dan lama pemasakan 2 jam,dan perbandingan karaginan dan air 1: 20 Liter menghasilkan kekuataan gel 188,53 g/cm2, dengan pH 8.04, kadar air 17.75, dan kadar abu 19,99%

    Risks of coastal storm surge and the effect of sea level rise in the Red River delta, Vietnam

    This paper considers the impact of sea level rise and storm surge on the Red River delta region of Vietnam an area already known to be highly vulnerable to coastal risks. By combining a range of sea level rise scenarios for 2050 with the simulated storm surge level for the 100-year storm surge, we analyze permanently inundated lands and temporary flood zones. As is well-established in the literature, sea level rise will increase the risk of storms by raising the base sea level from which surge is launched, but our method quantified the increase for disaster planning and vulnerability assessment purposes. Our analysis finds that sea level rise through 2050 could increase the effective frequency of the current 100-year storm surge, which is associated with a storm surge of roughly five meters, to once every 60 years. Approximately 10 percent of the Hanoi region's GDP is vulnerable to permanent inundation due to sea level rise, and more than 40 percent is vulnerable to periodic storm surge damage consistent with the current 100-year storm. We conclude that coastal adaptation measures, such as a planned retreat from the sea, and construction of a more substantial seawall and dike system, are needed to respond to these threats
