Neural Systems for solving the inverse problem of recovering the Primary Signal Waveform in potential transformers

    Get PDF
The inverse problem of recovering the potential transformer primary signal waveform using secondary signal waveform and information about the secondary load is solved here via two inverse neural network models. The first model uses two recurrent neural networks trained in an off-line mode. The second model is designed with the use a Dynamic Evolving Neural-Fuzzy Interface System (DENFIS) and suited for on-line application and integration into existing protection algorithms as a parallel module. It has the ability of learning and adjusting its structure in an on-line mode to reflect changes in the environment. The model is suited for real time applications and improvement of protection relay operation. The two models perform better than any existing and published models so far and are useful not only for the reconstruction of the primary signal, but for predicting the signal waveform for some time steps ahead and thus for estimating the drifts in the incoming signals and events

Does Atkinson-Wilcox Expansion Converges for any Convex Domain?

2000 Mathematics Subject Classification: 35C10, 35C20, 35P25, 47A40, 58D30, 81U40.The Atkinson-Wilcox theorem claims that any scattered field in the exterior of a sphere can be expanded into a uniformly and absolutely convergent series in inverse powers of the radial variable and that once the leading coefficient of the expansion is known the full series can be recovered uniquely through a recurrence relation. The leading coefficient of the series is known as the scattering amplitude or the far field pattern of the radiating field. In this work we give a simple characterization of the strictly convex domains, such that a reasonable generalization of the AtkinsonWilcox expansion converges uniformly in the corresponding exterior domain. All these strictly convex domains are spheres

    Spherical designs and lattices

In this article we prove that integral lattices with minimum <= 7 (or <= 9) whose set of minimal vectors form spherical 9-designs (or 11-designs respectively) are extremal, even and unimodular. We furthermore show that there does not exist an integral lattice with minimum <=11 which yields a 13-design.Comment: The final publication is available at http://link.springer.com/article/10.1007%2Fs13366-013-0155-

Quantum Fields in Hyperbolic Space-Times with Finite Spatial Volume

    Get PDF
The one-loop effective action for a massive self-interacting scalar field is investigated in 44-dimensional ultrastatic space-time R×H3/Γ R \times H^3/\Gamma, H3/ΓH^3/\Gamma being a non-compact hyperbolic manifold with finite volume. Making use of the Selberg trace formula, the ζ\zeta-function related to the small disturbance operator is constructed. For an arbitrary gravitational coupling, it is found that ζ(s)\zeta(s) has a simple pole at s=0s=0. The one-loop effective action is analysed by means of proper-time regularisations and the one-loop divergences are explicitly found. It is pointed out that, in this special case, also ζ\zeta-function regularisation requires a divergent counterterm, which however is not necessary in the free massless conformal invariant coupling case. Finite temperature effects are studied and the high-temperature expansion is presented. A possible application to the problem of the divergences of the entanglement entropy for a free massless scalar field in a Rindler-like space-time is briefly discussed.Comment: 13 pages, LaTex. Transcriptional Networks in Epithelial-Mesenchymal Transition

Epithelial-mesenchymal transition (EMT) changes polarized epithelial cells into migratory phenotypes associated with loss of cell-cell adhesion molecules and cytoskeletal rearrangements. This form of plasticity is seen in mesodermal development, fibroblast formation, and cancer metastasis. Here we identify prominent transcriptional networks active during three time points of this transitional process, as epithelial cells become fibroblasts. DNA microarray in cultured epithelia undergoing EMT, validated in vivo, were used to detect various patterns of gene expression. In particular, the promoter sequences of differentially expressed genes and their transcription factors were analyzed to identify potential binding sites and partners. The four most frequent cis-regulatory elements (CREs) in up-regulated genes were SRY, FTS-1, Evi-1, and GC-Box, and RNA inhibition of the four transcription factors, Atf2, Klf10, Sox11, and SP1, most frequently binding these CREs, establish their importance in the initiation and propagation of EMT. Oligonucleotides that block the most frequent CREs restrain EMT at early and intermediate stages through apoptosis of the cells. Our results identify new transcriptional interactions with high frequency CREs that modulate the stability of cellular plasticity, and may serve as targets for modulating these transitional states in fibroblasts

Selberg Supertrace Formula for Super Riemann Surfaces III: Bordered Super Riemann Surfaces

This paper is the third in a sequel to develop a super-analogue of the classical Selberg trace formula, the Selberg supertrace formula. It deals with bordered super Riemann surfaces. The theory of bordered super Riemann surfaces is outlined, and the corresponding Selberg supertrace formula is developed. The analytic properties of the Selberg super zeta-functions on bordered super Riemann surfaces are discussed, and super-determinants of Dirac-Laplace operators on bordered super Riemann surfaces are calculated in terms of Selberg super zeta-functions.Comment: 43 pages, amste
