    Development of a mobile pharmaceutical information environment

    For almost a decade the medicine and pharmacy database/search engine http://www. raviminfo.ee has been available on the web. I am the author of that web-site and it has been nice to see that the popularity of the site is constantly growing. More and more people are using it as the Estonia’s best source for getting information about drugs and other products sold in pharmacies. As almost every person is using mobile phone and more and more people are using smart phones, the only logical continuation for developing that site further was to create a native mobile application. As pilot platform we chose iOS - Apple’s operating system for all the mobile devices like iPhones, iPod Touches and iPads. The main reason for developing the application for iOS was my interest in smart phone niche and in Apple devices in particular. Further more, as I was also leading and developing similar project (LasaLara learn- ing environment for the iPhone) for the course Software Project, it seemed logical to go on with the chosen path and create another useful application that every person could use. There are two main reasons for using the original raviminfo.ee web-site. First one is to get information about pharmacies, like where they are located and what are their opening hours and other contact information. Second one is searching for the medicines from the pharmacies together with the price information as well as all the detailed information about these medicines. Implementing these two functionalities was also the main scope for the mobile application. However, since mobile devices are more limited, especially in screen sizes compared to regular computers with large screens, the main difference is the data presentation. I had to make compromises for fitting all the needed data into small screen of the mobile phone. In addition, as mobile devices often have GPS built-in this gave an interesting possibility to be able to show users information about the nearest pharmacies, to make the user experience even more comfortable and pleasing. This thesis is divided into four chapters. The first chapter gives an overview why such a mobile application could be useful and describes some of the similar mobile applications available on iOS. The second chapter contains the requirement analysis for the application. In the third chapter the design and implementation of the application is described. In the fourth chapter a short end-user manual is available to give a brief overview on how to use the application

    Nii akadeemilised kui tööstusvaldkonnad vajavad pidevalt efektiivseid ja töökindlaid meetodeid erinevate ainete analüüsimiseks kõrgsurve vedelik-kromatograafia (HPLC) abil. Selleks, et olla kindlad, et need meetodid on sobivad selle jaoks, milleks nad on kavandatud ning oleksid nii töökindlad ja laialt kasutatavad kui võimalik, tuleb need meetodid valideerida sobivate valideerimisjuhendite abil. Valideerimisprotsess on tihti aja- ning töömahukas, mis hõlmab endas mitmeid samme: mahuka, kuid sageli üldise valideerimisjuhendi lugemine, parajasti asjakohast valideerimisjuhendi osade kindlaks tegemine, kindlate karakteristikute mõõtmine, kindlate statistiliste arvutuste tegemine kogutud andmete baasil ja viimaks valideerimisraporti koostamine. Kuna seda tööd tehakse käsitsi, siis kulutab see palju väärtuslikku aega ning raha, mida võiks kasutada tegelike analüütiliste protseduuride parendamiseks. Selleks, et eeltoodud olukorda leevendada, loodi käesoleva magistritöö käigus tarkvaralise tööriista töötav prototüüp, mis aitab kasutajatel analüütilise protseduuri valideerimiseks kuluvat aega ning töövaeva kokku hoida. Prototüüp teostab ühe kindla valideerimisjuhendi (The International Conference of Harmonization Harmonized Tripartite Guideline) ja lubab kasutajatel luua valideerimiskirjeid, sisestada kindlate karakteristikute jaoks vajalikke andmeid, sooritada sisestatud andmetega statistilisi arvutusi ja luua eelnevalt sisestatud andmete ja arvutuste baasil lõpparuande. Tööriist on loodud laiendamisvõimalusi silmas pidades. Täpsemalt saab täiendavate konfiguratsioonifailide abil lisada uusi valideerimisjuhendeid ning samuti saab aruande genereerimiseks vajalikke komponente juurde lisada, et muuta tööriist uute nõudmiste jaoks sobivaks. Laiendamisvõimalused on suuresti saavutatud, kasutades ära ideid dünaamiliste vormide genereerimiste mudelitest, mis lubavad väljade nähtavuse ja vormi täitmistingimuste defineerimist nii iga üksiku välja kui väljade grupi jaoks. Kuna käesoleva magistritöö käigus loodud tarkvaralise tööriista järele on olemas reaalne vajadus, siis arendatakse seda edasi, lisades uusi valideerimisjuhendeid, implementeerides uut funktsionaalsust ning parendatakse üldist tarkvara kasutatavust.There is a steady demand, both from academia and industry, for efficient and reliable procedures to analyze various substances by means of High-Performance Liquid Chro- matography (HPLC) equipment. To make sure these procedures are fit for the purpose they were designed for and also as reliable and widely usable as possible, they have to be validated against relevant validation guidelines. This validation process can be time consuming and tedious work, which contains many steps including reading lengthy and often general guidelines, deciding which parts of the guideline are relevant, measuring certain characteristics, performing certain statistical calculations on the gathered data and finally generating a validation report. As this work is done manually, it wastes a lot of valuable time and money which could be spent on improving the actual analytical procedure. To alleviate the current situation a working prototype of a software tool was created during this Master’s thesis which allows end-users to reduce time and effort needed for analytical procedure validation. The prototype implements one specific valida- tion guideline (The International Conference of Harmonization Harmonized Tripartite Guideline), and allows users to create validations, enter correct values for the specific characteristics, perform statistical calculations on the entered data and generate report based on the previously entered data and calculations. The tool has been designed with extensibility in mind. Specifically, additional guidelines can be added via configura- tion files while additional input validation and report generation components can be plugged into the tool in order to cope with additional requirements. Extensibility is to large extent achieved by borrowing ideas from dynamic forms specification models, which allow field visibility and form completion conditions to be defined by at the level of individual fields or groups of fields. As there is an actual need for the software tool that was created during this thesis, it will be developed further by adding new validation guidelines, implementing additional functionality and improving the overall usability of the software

    Influence of epoxy resin to physico-mechanical properties of softwood

    Ehitusinseneriõppe lõputöö Maaehituse õppekavalKäesolevas magistritöös uuriti epoksiidvaiguga töödeldud okaspuidu füüsikalismehaanilisi omadusi. Laboratoorsetes katsetes hinnati epoksiidvaiguga tugevdatud puidu paindetugevust ja vaiguga kaetud katsekehade ristikiudu survetugevust. Lisaks määrati katsekehade niiskussisaldus pärast leotamise ja kuivamise tsükleid. Katsed teostati vastavalt standarditele ISO 13061-3:2014, EVS-EN 317:2000 ja ISO 3132. Katsekehade puitmaterjaliks valiti kuusk ja mänd, mis on põhilised ehitusmaterjalina kasutatavad puiduliigid. Kolme punkti paindekatsed teostati selliselt, et nõrgestusena lõigatud soon jäi tõmbetsooni. Kuusele soone tegemine vähendas paindetugevust 42%, kuid männi puhul soone tegemine puitu märkimisväärselt ei nõrgestanud. Epoksiidvaiguga täidetud kuuse katsekehade paindetugevused olid samaväärsed tervik katsekehade tulemustega. Männi puhul olid kõikide katsekehade paindetugevused küllaltki sarnased, seega sarnast järeldust teha ei saa. Katsekehade niiskussisalduse mõõtmiseks teostati katsekehadele kuni kaks 24- tunnist leotamise ja kuivatamise tsüklit. Epoksiidvaiguga kaetud katsekahade niiskussisaldus oli kolm kuni viis korda väiksem katmata katsekehade omast. Tulemuste põhjal saab väita, et vaiguga katmine aitab ära hoida puitmaterjali liigniiskumise. Survekatsetel kasutati samu katsekehi, mis olid läbinud ligunemise ja kuivatamise tsüklid, et tõestada, kui palju keskkonnatingimused puidu survetugevust mõjutavad. Ristikiudu survekatsete tulemusena selgus, et 24 tundi leotatud ja vaiguga kaetud katsekehade survetugevus oli vähemalt 89% suurem kui katmata katsekehadel ning 48 tundi leotatud katsekehadel vähemalt 150% suurem.In this thesis the physico-mechanical properties of softwood treated with epoxy resin were studied. In laboratory tests, the flexural strength of the reinforced wood of the epoxy resin and the wood compressive strength perpendicular to grain of the specimens coated with resin were evaluated. In addition, the moisture content of the test pieces after soaking and drying cycles was determined. The tests were carried out in accordance with ISO 13061-3:2014, EVS-EN 317:2000 and ISO 3132. The woody material of the test pieces were spruce and pine, which are the main types of wood used for building material. The three-point bending tests were performed so that the cut weakening groove remained in the strain zone. Making a groove for the spruce weakened the bending strength by 42%, but in the case of pine, the groove did not significantly weaken the wood. The test pieces of spruce filled with epoxy resin and the test pieces without cut groove and epoxy resin matched with the results of the flexural strenght test. In the case of pine, the flexural strengths of all test pieces were quite similar, so a similar conclusion can not be drawn. To measure the moisture content of the test pieces, up to two 24-hour soaking and drying cycles were performed on the test pieces The moisture content of the epoxy-resin-coated test pieces were three to five times smaller than the uncovered test pieces. Based on the results, it is assumed that resin coating helps prevent woody material from moistening. In the compression tests perpendicular to grain, the same test pieces that had passed the soaking and drying cycles were used to prove how much environmental conditions would undermine the compressive strength of the wood. As a result of wood compressive strength perpendicular to grain tests, it was found that the 24-hour soaked and resin-coated test pieces had a compressive strength of at least 89% higher than uncovered test pieces and 48-hour soaked and resin-coated test pieces had a compressive strenght at least 150% higher than uncovered test pieces

    Dit empirische zorgethische leeronderzoek doet verslag van een interpretatief fenomenologisch onderzoek naar de geleefde ervaringen van ouders rond een eyetracker screening ter opsporing van visuele verwerkingsproblematiek bij hun prematuur geboren kinderen. Hiervoor zijn ouders van drie gescreende kinderen geobserveerd en geïnterviewd. De verkregen data zijn geanalyseerd volgens de methode Interpretative Phenomenological Analysis (IPA). Daarbij staat de volgende vraag centraal: wat zijn de geleefde ervaringen van ouders rond de eyetracker screening ter opsporing van visuele verwerkingsproblematiek bij hun prematuur geboren kinderen en wat betekenen deze ervaringen voor goede zorg rond deze kinderen? Ouders van prematuur geboren kinderen laten zien hoe ze met de eyetracker screening effectief geraakt worden in onzekerheid en bestaand leed en tegelijkertijd affectief geraakt worden in zorgzaamheid en dienstbaarheid voor hun kind, lotgenoten en zorgverleners vanuit een opgebouwde verwantschap. De affectieve geraaktheid zorgt bij ouders voor een morele respons in hun beslissing tot deelname aan de screening, waarbij het eigen leed ondergeschikt gemaakt wordt aan het belang van hun kind. Hun eigen stabiliteit wordt daarmee tot wankelen gebracht. Deze ervaringen zijn ingebed in een bredere socio-politieke zorgcontext en gaan samen met ervaringen van miskenning en vervreemding. Het tekortschieten van zorgverleners om de behoefte aan aandacht en erkenning bij ouders te herkennen brengt hun stabiliteit verder tot wankelen. Goede zorg begint met de erkenning dat ouders morele verwanten zijn binnen de cirkel van zorgzame betrokkenheid rondom prematuur geboren kinderen. Dat opent de weg naar aandachtige en responsieve zorg voor deze kinderen en hun ouders waarin ruimte voor het ongewisse is als onderdeel van menselijke uniekheid
