NeobiÄni nalazi morskih organizama u rijeci Neretvi (Hrvatska i Bosna i Hercegovina)
This paper presents a review of the unusual occurrences of various marine species found
upstream in the Neretva River and its wider delta zone in the last two decades. The occurrences of at least eight different marine species were reported by local fishermen, representing very rare records of these species in the upstream areas of rivers. Although some of these species generally inhabit both saltwater and brackish waters, their occurrences high upstream are probably the consequence of changes in hydrological conditions in Neretva River. Namely, more intense saltwater intrusion into the river observed in the last two decades provides suitable conditions for mass penetration of euryhaline organisms high into the Neretva River. In this biodiversity rich area which hosts a significant number of endemic species, such phenomena can threaten the local freshwater communities.U radu je prikazan pregled neobiÄnih nalaza morskih vrsta u rijeci Neretvi te Å”irem podruÄju
Naime, intenzivniji prodor morske vode u rijeku u posljednja dva desetljeÄa omoguÄava masovno prodiranje eurihalnih organizama visoko u rijeku Neretvu. Na ovom podruÄju, bogatom bioloÅ”kom raznolikoÅ”Äu sa znaÄajnim brojem endemskih vrsta, takve pojave mogu ugroziti zajednice slatkovodnih organizama
ANTHROPOGENIC INFLUENCE - THE GREATEST THREAT TO BIRDS IN DELTA NERETVA AND HUTOVO BLATO
PodruÄje delte Neretve zahvaÄa prostor od PoÄitelja u BiH do uÅ”Äa Neretve u PloÄama (RH) u povrÅ”ini od 24.585 ha. MeÄutim i pored administrativne podjele, cijelo podruÄje delte Neretve predstavlja jednu prirodnu cjelinu kako u ortografskom, klimatoloÅ”kom, hidroloÅ”kom tako i u bioloÅ”kom, kulturoloÅ”kom i povijesnom kontekstu. Sve intenzivnije ljudske aktivnosti u cijelom prostoru delte Neretve mogu naruÅ”iti i ozbiljno dovesti u pitanje daljnji opstanak moÄvarnih staniÅ”ta, a time i opstanak pojedinih vrsta. The Neretva delta covers the area from PoÄitelj in Bosnia and Herzegovina to the mouth of the Neretva river in PloÄe (Republic of Croatia, in an area of 24,585 ha. However, despite the administrative division, the entire Neretva delta represents a natural whole in orthographic, climatological, hydrological and biological, cultural and historical context. Under the influence of man, the Neretva delta has undergone significant changes throughout history, ranging from the regulation of the Neretva riverbed, intensive land reclamation, construction of hydropower facilities to urbanization and the use of resources for economic purposes (tourism, agriculture, etc.). Anthropogenic influences are still present today, which has led to changes in surface structure, water regime, increased water salinity, declining water quality and loss of wetland habitats. The former area of 20,000 ha, which consisted of endless reeds, has now been turned into agricultural land and lake reservoirs to regulated riverbeds with the remains of wetland habitats where wetland birds find a place to feed, rest and nest. Increasingly intensive human activities in the entire area of the Neretva delta can disrupt and seriously jeopardize the further survival of wetland habitats, and thus the survival of certain species. For the purposes of this paper, two approaches were used: research of literature data on the area and research activities. Collection of literature data was performed through research and collection of all available data, information and documentation related to spatial planning documents, research papers and scientific and professional work conducted in the area of Hutovo blato and the Neretva delta. The specific scientific-research methodology was based on the method of phase (stage / seasonal) research, and all activities are harmonized with the applicable laws on nature protection, and internal documents of public companies and public institutions that manage protected areas
