A vanishing theorem for a class of logarithmic D-modules
Let OX (resp. DX) be the sheaf of holomorphic functions (resp. the
sheaf of linear differential operators with holomorphic coefficients) on X =
Cn. Let D X be a locally weakly quasi-homogeneous free divisor defined
by a polynomial f. In this paper we prove that, locally, the annihilating
ideal of 1/fk over DX is generated by linear differential operators of order
1 (for k big enough). For this purpose we prove a vanishing theorem for
the extension groups of a certain logarithmic DX–module with OX. The
logarithmic DX–module is naturally associated with D (see Notation 1.1).
This result is related to the so called Logarithmic Comparison Theorem
Otto Engine: Classical and Quantum Approach
In this paper, we analyze the total work extracted and the efficiency of the
magnetic Otto cycle in its classic and quantum versions. As a general result,
we found that the work and efficiency of the classical engine is always greater
than or equal to that of its quantum counterpart independent of the working
substance. In the classical case, this is due to the fact that the working
substance is always in thermodynamic equilibrium at each point of the cycle,
maximizing the energy extracted in the adiabatic paths. We apply this analysis
to the case of a two-level system, finding that the work and efficiency in
Otto's quantum and classical cycle are identical, regardless of the working
substance, and we obtain similar results for a multilevel system where a linear
relationship between the spectrum of energies of the working substance and the
external magnetic field is fulfilled. Finally, we show an example of a
three-level system in which we compare two zones in the entropy, temperature
and magnetic field diagram to find which is the most efficient when performing
a thermodynamic cycle. This work provides a practical way to look for
temperature and magnetic field zones in the entropy diagram that can maximize
the power extracted from Otto's magnetic engine
Enhanced Efficiency at Maximum Power in a Fock-Darwin Model Quantum Dot Engine
We study the performance of an endoreversible magnetic Otto cycle with a
working substance composed of a single quantum dot described using the
well-known Fock-Darwin model. We find that tuning the intensity of the
parabolic trap (geometrical confinement) impacts the proposed cycle's
performance, quantified by the power, work, efficiency, and parameter region
where the cycle operates as an engine. We demonstrate that a parameter region
exists where the efficiency at maximum output power exceeds the Curzon-Ahlborn
efficiency, the efficiency at maximum power achieved by a classical working
substance.Comment: 14 pages, 7 figure
Repetitive negative thinking (RNT), in the form of worry and rumination, is a factor that can have a negative impact on the quality of life and symptomatology of patients with fibromyalgia (FM). The present study analyzes the efficacy of a brief Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) protocol focused on reducing RNT in four women diagnosed with FM. A randomized, multiple-baseline design across participants was conducted. Participants completed 4-6 weeks of baseline and subsequently received a 4-session individual intervention. The effect of the intervention was assessed by conducting follow-ups for up to 3 months. All four participants showed clinically significant changes in emotional symptoms as measured by the Depression Anxiety and Stress Scale – 21 (DASS-21¸ S. H. Lovibond y P. F. Lovibond, 1995) and the General Health Questionnaire – 12 (Ruiz et al., 2017a). Likewise, participants showed significant improvements in parameters related to sleep quality and improvements in health-related quality of life. As for process measures, all participants showed clinically significant changes in pathological worry, and three of them also in cognitive fusion. Changes in valued actions were more modest. Effect sizes comparable across designs were very large and statistically significant for DASS-Total (d = 1.51), DASS-Depression (d = 1.83), pathological worry (d = 1.79), and cognitive fusion (d = 1.99).
On stochastic string stability with applications to platooning over additive noise channels
This paper addresses the string stabilization of vehicular platooning when
stochastic phenomena are inherent in inter-vehicle communication. To achieve
this, we first provide two definitions to analytically assess the string
stability in stochastic scenarios, considering the mean and variance of
tracking errors as the platoon size grows. Subsequently, we analytically derive
necessary and sufficient conditions to achieve this notion of string stability
in predecessor-following linear platoons that communicate through additive
white noise channels. We conclude that the condition ensuring string stability
with ideal communication is essentially the same that achieves stochastic
string stability when additive noise channels are in place and guarantees that
the tracking error means and variances converge.Comment: 12 pages, 6 figures, preprint submitted to Automatic
