The volume under review includes 24 out of the 26 papers delivered at the international colloquium with the same title held in Lyon (France) in April 2014 and sponsored by the Laboratoire HISOMA (Histoire et sources des mondes antiques).1 Its 500 pages bear witness to the outstanding revival of research on the Virgil commentaries by Servius.2 The editors are proven experts on either Latin grammatical tradition (Garcea) or speci cally in Servius (Vallat, Lhommé), and, consequently, they guarantee the reliability of the contributions to a volume in which “Servian authorities”, such as Ramires and Stock, take part

Electric/magnetic duality and RG flows in AdS4/CFT3

A large set of relevant deformations of the ABJM field theory defined on a stack of M2 branes is captured holographically by D = 4 N = 8 SO(8)-gauged supergravity, which has accordingly been applied to study renormalisation group (RG) flows of the field theory between distinct superconformal phases. Recently, it has been discovered that this supergravity is not unique, and that a one-parameter family of gaugings of maximal supergravity exists. The parameter is an angle that measures the mixture of electric and magnetic vectors that gauge SO(8) dyonically. We construct and comprehensively characterise all domain walls between the critical points of the new supergravities with at least SU(3) invariance, which are expected to be dual to RG flows of new field theories defined at least at large N. We also construct some walls running off to infinity in scalar space, which we expect to be dual to Coulomb branch flows of these field theories

School Variables as a Protective Factor for Violent Behavior.

Violent behavior represents a mental health problem for children and adolescents. Yet, the schools can contribute to understand this type of aggressive behavior, but most important, to mediate or moderate different predictors and their negative consequences. In order to examine the role of the school context for the development and maintenance of violent behavior, I conducted 3 studies which examined different features of the school. The first study examined the relationship between school attachment, violent attitudes, and violent behavior over time in a sample of urban adolescents from the Midwest. The final sample consisted of 579 participants, 54.9% female and 81.3% African American. The results indicated that the relationship between school attachment and violent behavior over time is mediated through violent attitude. The second paper examined the importance of peer influence on bullying behavior and the role of teacher-student relatedness as a promotive factor for early aggression and peer rejection during school transition. I used a sample of 264 ethnically diverse students, 52% of whom were female from 5th grade to 7th grade. Results provide evidence that peer rejection and aggression experiences in elementary school, predicted becoming a victim or a bully in 7th grade. In addition teacher-student relatedness during the transition process, protected youth against the negative effects of peer rejection and becoming a victim of bullying in 7th grade. Finally, in the third paper I tested the association between school violence and life satisfaction among youth, considering school satisfaction as a mediating factor. For this purpose I used a sample of 802 7th graders from Chile. Results showed that being a victim of school violence has an indirect effect on life satisfaction through school satisfaction. Being a perpetrator, however, has no indirect effect on life satisfaction. Results of the dissertation studies provide evidence of the role of different school variables that could contribute to understanding school violent behavior and its negative consequences. Researchers have identified several school variables that explain youth adjustment, but few have also considered these school variables to be useful for explaining youth violence over time or in different cultural contexts. This research extends the developing body of literature on supply chain integration. Theorizing from the supply chain integration literatures, we develop hypotheses proposing direct, mediating, and moderating relations between integrated information technology, customer integration, relationship commitment, and financial performance. Also, we investigate the complementary roles of IT department size and top management support. Our findings from a sample of 205 firms in Egypt indicate that integrated information technology and customer integration can improve financial performance. In addition, our results show a mediating and positive effect of customer integration on the relation between integrated information technology and financial performance. Also, information technology department size and top management support are significantly related to integrated information technology. Finally, our results also show a direct and positive effect of relationship commitment on the customer integration, and a moderating and positive effect of relationship commitment on the relationship between integrated information technology and customer integration

Slowed Development of Natural Products for Chagas Disease, how to Move Forward?

Chagas disease, caused by Trypanosoma cruzi, is considered an endemic disease that affects millions of people causing generating health, economic and social problems. This study provides a review on research and development of new therapies for Chagas based in natural products of plant origin. We observed that there are more than 400 plant species that have been evaluated against different models of Chagas disease, and in some cases, there are interesting results. Challenge that hinders research work is the purification of the active compound and standardization of the chemical profile of whole extracts. The principal common factor that delays clinical testing is the lack of investment for the development of these products at the clinical phase. In the search of a natural, low cost and available drug for Chagas disease, we propose the use of new methodologies to overcome the existing challenges. The use of plant metabolomic technique is proposed as an option with high potential for the identification of biomarkers that could allow the standardization of chemical profiles. Furthermore, we describe the importance of applying good agricultural and manufacturing practices for reaching a successful development of quality phytotherapeutic products
