    Nonparametric integral statistics ωkn = nk2 ∫∞−∞ [Sn(x) − F(x)]k dF(x): Main properties and applications

    Get PDF
AbstractThe main characteristics of nonparametric statistics, ωkn, which can be represented as integrals of the kth degree of the empirical process, are considered. An algebraic form of these statistics, convenient for practical usage, is derived. Tables of percentage points for k = 1,2, …, 5 and small empirical sample sizes n = 1,2, …, 10 are obtained. Goodness-of-fit criteria based on ωkn statistics are constructed, and their main properties are studied. A method for classifying multidimensional data based on these criteria, which was successfully applied in several experiments, is described

Dependence of Nanoparticles Synthesis Energy Consumption in the Gas Spark Discharge on Circuit Parameters

In this paper, we study the specific energy of titanium dioxide nanoparticles synthesis in a spark discharge in the air by varying the parameters of a discharge circuit. The dependence shows a maximum at a capacitor voltage of about 2 kV and a monotonic decrease with increasing voltage

The semileptonic decays of the B_c meson

    Get PDF
We study the semileptonic transitions B_c to \eta_c, J/\psi, D, D^*, B, B^*, B_s, B_s^* in the framework of a relativistic constituent quark model. We use experimental data on leptonic J/\psi decay, lattice and QCD sum rule results on leptonic B_c decay, and on radiative \eta_c transitions to adjust the quark model parameters. We compute all form factors of the above semileptonic B_c-transitions and give predictions for various semileptonic B_c decay modes including their \tau-modes when they are kinematically accessible. The implications of heavy quark symmetry for the semileptonic decays are discussed and are shown to be manifest in our explicit relativistic quark model calculation. A comparison of our results with the results of other calculations is performed.Comment: 31 pages Latex (uses epsf, revtex). Section II expanded, typos corrected. This version will appear in Phys. Multivariate data analysis based on the ωkn-criteria and multilayer perceptron

    Get PDF
AbstractA comparative study of multidimensional classifiers based on the goodness-of-fit criteria ωkn and multilayer perceptrons (MLP) has been carried out. It is shown that MLP exhibits the “instantaneous” learning effect and improves the quality of recognition in the case of input data represented in the form of variational series. The reasons are analyzed that underlie these effects. Recommendations for joint usage of the ωkn criteria and of MLPs are given

Comparative Analysis of Various Superconducting and Non-Superconducting Fault Current Limiting Devices Designed for Operation in a 110kV/100 MW Power Network

    Get PDF
AbstractAs it is known one of the most promising fault current limiting (FCL) devices for high-power electric networks can be the so-called transformer type superconducting fault current limiter (SFCL) with the primary winding connected to the load in series and the secondary one shortened by a fast-acting circuit-breaker. These devices when made of conventional materials can be very large and expensive – e.g., for a 100 MW circuit under protection the total mass of copper winding conductors can exceed 15 tons and the heat losses in a normal operating mode can be more than 200kW. Therefore, using of high-temperature superconductors (HTSC) can be a solution which can sufficiently improve the mass, geometrical and operational characteristics of an FCL. Unlike other superconducting AC devices, the magnetic field in SFCL does not exceed 0.1 – 0.2 T what allows using HTSC windings even at a comparatively high level of AC losses existing nowadays. In this paper is performed a comparative analysis of various designs of SCFL with the non-superconducting FCL. It has been shown that the former have a mass by an order of magnitude lower than the latter and the rate of lowering of heat losses in a normal operating mode is the same. The equalization of costs of both designs is expected to be reached within the nearest 3 – 5 five years
