    Differentiation and radiosensitivity of hemopoietic stem cells of mice during hypokinesia

    The potential for differentiation and radiosensitivity of the stem hemopoietic cells (KOE) under conditions of initial and later hypokinesia is examined. It is established that in the initial period of hypokinesia (3 days) when a stress reaction prevails, changes occur in the erythroid differentiation and radiosensitivity of KOE. This effect is associated with redistribution of T-lymphocytes that increase in number in the bone marrow of mice during hypokinesia. At later periods of hypokinesia (30 days) when changes in the organism are related to hypokinesia proper, differentiation and radiosensitivity of KOE were normalized

    Wake excited in plasma by an ultrarelativistic pointlike bunch

    We study propagation of a relativistic electron bunch through a cold plasma assuming that the transverse and longitudinal dimensions of the bunch are much smaller than the plasma collisionless skin depth. Treating the bunch as a point charge and assuming that its charge is small, we derive a simplified system of equations for the plasma electrons and show that, through a simple rescaling of variables, the bunch charge can be eliminated from the equations. The equations demonstrate an ion cavity formed behind the driver. They are solved numerically and the scaling of the cavity parameters with the driver charge is obtained.     Results of subionospheric radio LF monitoring prior to the Tokachi (M=8, Hokkaido, 25 September 2003) earthquake

    Results of simultaneous LF subionospheric monitoring over two different propagation paths prior to the very strong Tokachi earthquake (near the east coast of Hokkaido Island, 25 September 2003) of magnitude 8.3 are presented firstly. Nighttime amplitude fluctuations of the Japanese Time Standard Transmitter (JG2AS, 40kHz) signal received at Moshiri (Japan, 142°E, 44°N) and at Petropavlovsk-Kamchatski (Russia, 158°E, 53°N) were analyzed. As a possible precursory signature we observed synchronous intensification of quasi periodical 16-day variations of the dispersion in the signals received at both observation stations before the earthquake. The strongest deviations observed as a rule were depletions of signal amplitude probably connected with increase of loss in the ionosphere by the enhancement of turbulence. This is due to dissipation of internal gravity waves (IGW) at the lower ionosphere heights. A scheme for seismo-IGW-planetary waves (PW) interconnection has been justified to explain the observed connection with strong earthquakes. It considers the seasonal variability in the signal
