Phytobiological consequences of climatic changes in Finland during recent decades
Mean summer temperatures in Finland in recent decades (1951â75), particularly in the 1950's and 1960's generally declined from the figures recorded in the 1930's, although remaining well above the mean value for the period 1901â30. One consequence of this has been a delay of a few days in the flowering times of certain plants and in the ripening of some fruits. At the same time, the distribution of certain southerly plants known to be spreading easily has advanced only to a minor extent during this period, although their frequency has clearly grown within the limits of distribution reached by 1950
