Spray-dried cells of Lactobacillus sakei CTC 494 survived ca. 60% longer in the spray dried state when cells were grown in the presence of 20 g sucrose l)1 or 12.5 g monosodium glutamate l)1. No significant differences were observed in viability during storage in the freeze dried state with the addition of these compounds to the growth medium, nor in survival during a heat treatment (55ºC). Both sucrose and glutamate in the growth medium suppressed intracellular accumulation of total amino acids and changed the overall pattern of the individual amino acids. Glutamate in the growth medium enhanced intracellular glutamate by ca. 38

Disserta??o (Mestrado Profissional) ? Programa de P?s-Gradua??o em Educa??o, Universidade Federal dos Vales do Jequitinhonha e Mucuri, 2018.Public policies are actions or rules, implemented by governments in a society, that directly influence the lives of all citizens. Once drawn, they are transformed into plans, projects or programs that will modify and order important elements of society such as health and education. Historically in Brazil, attempts to construct public policies with broad access to essential services have been fragmented and fragile. The ordering and systematization of public policies became more evident only after the 1988 Constitution, which determined the State's duty to provide individual and collective inalienable rights, such as education and health. In 2013, the ?Mais M?dicos? Program was created, as a public policy of health and education whose main axes sought the provision of doctors for Primary Care; changes and expansion in medical education and improvements in the physical structures of the country's Health Units. The ?Mais M?dicos? Program, in addition to the guarantee of medical assistance with the emergency provision for remote areas such as the Northeast of Minas Gerais, made possible the creation of two new medical schools at the Federal University of the Jequitinhonha and Mucuri Valleys, one on Diamantina campus and another at the Mucuri campus in Te?filo Otoni / MG. In this context, the general objective of this work is to investigate the process of creation and implementation of the Medical Course of the UFVJM - Campus Mucuri, in Te?filo Otoni, as a public education and health policy. As specifics objectives, they seek to investigate the emergence and development of public health and education policies in Brazil; to analyze the ?Mais M?dicos? Program and its relationship with public health and education policies and to recover the history of creation and implementation of the Medical Course of the UFVJM - Campus Mucuri, in Te?filo Otoni, Minas Gerais. It is a qualitative study, exploratory in nature, which uses documentary analysis in addition to the bibliographic survey, which determines the current contexts about the program. In three years of operation, the Medical School of Mucuri already has approximately 210 students. The course has a semester entry of 30 places and a modular curriculum, based on active learning methodologies, aimed at the formation of a generalist professional focusing on rural medicine and humanistic profile. The historical record has important relation with the development of the identity of the Medical Course and because it is an exploratory study, it does not exhaust itself, allowing new researches and academic approaches

Effect of Endosulfan and Parathion on Energy Reserves and Physiological Parameters of the Terrestrial Isopod Porcellio dilatatus

The in vivo effects of parathion and endosulfan on the isopod Porcellio dilatatus were investigated. Feeding parameters (food consumption and assimilation rates), growth, and energy reserves (glycogen, lipid, and protein contents) of pesticide-exposed isopods were compared with those of control animals. Isopods were exposed to a wide range of concentrations of parathion or endosulfan (0.1, 1, 10, 25, 50, 100, 250, and 500 [mu]g/g of food) for 21 days. The route of uptake of the pesticides was through the diet (alder leaves). Results revealed that parathion induces a significant depression of glycogen, lipid, and protein contents. However, no significant effect was observed on either feeding parameters or growth. Animals fed endosulfan-contaminated food had smaller amounts of glycogen and lipid than control animals, while protein levels were similar in all treatments. Endosulfan also induced a significant decrease in food consumption and assimilation rates at the highest concentrations tested. Growth rate was also significantly affected by endosulfan. These results suggest that the isopod P. dilatatus is a suitable species for use in toxicity tests and that energy reserves could be used as effect criteria in both laboratory and field studies.http://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/B6WDM-458W5GK-3G/1/92cc0ac452f4d985389a93776ad9d6b
