Problem-Solving or Narrative Approach to Mediation?

Mediation is a one of the well-known forms of alternative dispute resolution and is commonly used for solving conflicts in social work. Following introduction, where the mediation is put in social context, authors introduce readers to different approaches to mediation specifically to narrative mediation in comparison with mediation focused on solving problems. These approaches have different theoretical bases, mediation processes and aims and, therefore, their utilization is appropriate in distinct situations and areas of social work. In the conclusion these different approaches are compared to each other. While the narrative mediation is concerned with relationships and belongs to therapeutic style, the problem-solving approach to mediation falls into negotiating style and is concerned with reaching an agreement between parties of the conflict. If there is a need to solve the actual problem, the mediation focused on solving problems seems more fitting. If there is a need to understand and solve relationships between parties of the conflict, then the narrative mediation may be recommended.Mediation is a one of the well-known forms of alternative dispute resolution and is commonly used for solving conflicts in social work. OPTIMIZATION OF COMPUTATIONAL BURDEN OF THE POINT INFORMATION GAIN

We developed a method of image preprocessing based on the information entropy, namely, on the information contribution made by each individual pixel to the whole image or to image’s part (i.e., a Point Information Gain; PIG). An idea of the PIG calculation is that an image background remains informatively poor, whereas objects carry relevant information. In one calculation, this method preserves details, highlights edges, and decreases random noise. This paper describes optimization and implementation of the PIG calculation on graphical processing units (GPU) to overcome a high computational burden

The objective of the presented work is to monitor the experiences of the public with the Medical Rescue Servece of the South Bohemian Region. The mapping out of the experiences of the receivers of the care themselves concerning the attitudes, the access to relevant information and trust in the team of the Medical Rescue Service of the South Bohemian Region is a way to detect and evaluate the actual most frequent mistakes and omissions of the medical team in urgent and demanding situations. It can be concluded that people of different age, sex and standard of education make use of the medical rescue service. An enormous trust into the staff members of the medical rescue service is a general phenomenon. As a result of this finding it seems essential to pay due attention even to borderline results in the sense of presenting the rescue team accordingly and offering a second call to the operation emergency centre (telephone line 155) by the appropriate operation emergency centre staff member. I would appreciate if this paper could be used for a subsequent more detailed study in this field. I would recommend a training of rescue workers in the techniques of specialized communication. The presented results could also find use in helping the rescue service team member as well as the trainees in this sector of medical services to acquire a better insight into ther profession
