Rodziny z wyboru. Homoseksualny związek jako współczesna alternatywa rodziny – analiza zjawiska

Przedmiotem zainteresowania w artykule uczyniono rodzinę homoseksualną jako alternatywę dla tradycyjnej rodziny. Zaproponowane w pierwszej części tekstu analizy koncentrują się na okolicznościach związanych z pojawieniem się tej formy rodziny w społeczeństwach zachodnich oraz w Polsce. Analizy te dokonane zostały w perspektywie przemiany stylów życia, seksualności oraz relacji między parterami jako uwarunkowań pojawienia się tematyki homorodzin w dyskursie publicznym. Uzupełnieniem tych rozważań są wyniki autorskich badań jakościowych, których celem było odwzorowanie i zrekonstruowanie życia codziennego badanych rodzin homoseksualnych. Badania realizowano techniką swobodnego wywiadu pogłębionego z członkami trzech rodzin jednopłciowych. Z badań wynika, że ich uczestnicy nie oczekiwali akceptacji wybranego przez siebie modelu rodziny; twierdzili, że ich związki nie odbiegają w sposób znaczący od innych modeli życia rodzinnego. Badani skupiali się przede wszystkim na budowaniu wzajemnej więzi z dziećmi, wychowywaniu potomstwa oraz codziennej egzystencji

Anti-Corruption’s Next Great Migration?: Strengthening U.S. Refugee And Asylum Law Under Existing U.S. Anti-Corruption Commitments

First, this paper will describe the U.S.’s anticorruption commitments under international law. Next, it will present the general features of current U.S. refugee and asylum law, pertaining to particular social group (PSG) and political opinion claims. Last, this paper will discuss how the Biden Anti-Corruption Memo provides fertile ground for DHS to initiate an informal rulemaking process under the Administrative Procedure Act (APA) to engage civil society on how U.S. refugee and asylum laws can better support a pathway to citizenship for anti-corruption activists in pursuit of key U.S. foreign policy interests abroad and who find themselves unable to seek protection in their home countries

Duszpasterstwo par kohabitujących – propozycje dla obecnej sytuacji w Polsce

Premarital cohabitation in Poland, although still not as widespread and common as in many western countries, is becoming an attractive form of being in an intimate relationship for a growing number of young adults. This state of things – in spite of the recent, more welcoming attitude towards cohabiting couples introduced by Francis – is not fully recognised by the Polish Episcopate. The Church in Poland had to wait over two years to receive a general guideline for the application of Amoris Laetitia. Also, until now the Polish bishops have not been able to propose any systematic marriage preparation program (MP) or working document – which would offer principles on how to deal pastorally with cohabiting couples. In this article I specifically concentrate on the newest empirical research regarding the quality of cohabiting unions (prior to and after they transit to marriages) as well as on the new orientation towards those living in ‘irregular’ situations introduced by Francis. Based on these two perspectives, I make several suggestions on how to deal with the Polish cohabiting couples in the context of marriage preparation in a pastorally sensitive and at the same time effective and realistic manner.Kohabitacja przedmałżeńska w Polsce, mimo iż nadal nie jest tak powszechnie praktykowana i akceptowana jak w wielu krajach zachodnich, staje się bardziej atrakcyjną formą bycia w związku (intymnym) dla coraz większej liczby młodych Polaków. Ten stan rzeczy – pomimo wyraźnych zmian w podejściu do par kohabitujących zaproponowanych przez papieża Franciszka w encyklice Amoris Laetitia – nie jest w pełni zrozumiany przez Kościół katolicki w Polsce. Przygotowanie 11-stronicowego dokumentu zawierającego ogólne wytyczne do stosowania encykliki zajęły Episkopatowi Polski ponad dwa lata. Jak dotąd nie zaproponowano również propozycji programu formacyjnego (na poziomie diecezji czy metropolii), który oferowałby konkretną pomoc w przygotowaniu par kohabitujących pragnących zawrzeć sakrament małżeństwa. W tym artykule autorka koncentruje się na najnowszych badaniach empirycznych dotyczących jakości związków kohabitacyjnych (przed i po zawarciu małżeństwa), a także na nowym kierunku w postępowaniu z parami, które żyją w tzw. nieregularnych sytuacjach, wyznaczonym przez papieża Franciszka. Opierając się na tych dwóch perspektywach, przedstawia kilka sugestii, jak podchodzić do par kohabitujących w kontekście przygotowania małżeńskiego w sposób pastoralnie przyjazny, a jednocześnie skuteczny i realistyczny

Prediction of Recidivism from Batterer Characteristics and Prior Arrest Records

A variety of batterer characteristics, such as witnessing parental violence as a child, alcohol/drug use, and a prior legal history, have been found to be correlated with domestic violence. Initial research on recidivism has also suggested that these characteristics are correlated with recidivism and, thus, may be used as possible predictor variables. This study explored the relationship between a number of batterer characteristics and recidivism within a sample of batterers involved in a domestic violence treatment program. Of the psychosocial variables explored as possible predictors, only witnessing of parental violence as a child was a significant predictor. In addition, analyses conducted between the recidivists and non-recidivists only found marital status to be significantly different between the two groups
