    Realization of a spontaneous gauge and supersymmetry breaking vacuum

    It is one of the major issues to realize a vacuum which breaks supersymmetry (SUSY) and R-symmetry, in a supersymmetric model. We study the model, where the same sector breaks the gauge symmetry and SUSY. In general, the SUSY breaking model without gauge symmetry has a flat direction at the minimum of F-term scalar potential. When we introduce U(1) gauge symmetry to such a SUSY breaking model, there can appear a runaway direction. Such a runway direction can be lifted by loop effects, and the gauge symmetry breaking and SUSY breaking are realized. The R-symmetry, that is assigned to break SUSY, is also spontaneously broken at the vacuum. This scenario can be extended to non-Abelian gauge theories. We also discuss application to the Pati-Salam model and the SU(5) grand unified theory. We see that non-vanishing gaugino masses are radiatively generated by the R-symmetry breaking and the gauge messenger contribution.Comment: 23 pages, version accepted in JHE

And it built up the "society of worker" which forced the company to treat the worker equally. But the management could not permit such a situation which prevented the efficiency of production at that time by changing circumstance of business, especialluy reorganization of the industry. Bearing these process in mind, we take up the problem as following. What is the problem the management confronted to change the industrial relations policy? And then we analyze the feature of management policy to reform the shop floor industrial relations

    SiF4 anomalous behaviour reassessed

    The Si 1s−1, Si 2s−1, and Si 2p−1 photoelectron spectra of the SiX4 molecules with X = F, Cl, Br, CH3 were measured. From these spectra the Si 1s−1 and Si 2s−1 lifetime broadenings were determined, revealing a significantly larger value for the Si 2s−1 core hole of SiF4 than for the same core hole of the other molecules of the sequence. This finding is in line with the results of the Si 2p−1 core holes of a number of SiX4 molecules, with an exceptionally large broadening for SiF4. For the Si 2s−1 core hole of SiF4 the difference to the other SiX4 molecules can be explained in terms of Interatomic Coulomb Decay (ICD)-like processes. For the Si 2p−1 core hole of SiF4 the estimated values for the sum of the Intraatomic Auger Electron Decay (IAED) and ICD-like processes are too small to explain the observed linewidth. However, the results of the given discussion render for SiF4 significant contributions from Electron Transfer Mediated Decay (ETMD)-like processes at least plausible. On the grounds of our results, some more molecular systems in which similar processes can be observed are identified

    Facile Photo-Oxidation of Alcohols by a Flavin with a Metal-Chelation Site

    A new flavin molecule with a metal-chelation site has been applied to photo-oxidation of alcohols: it is 2, 4, 7-trimethyl-10-benzylquino [8, 7-g] pteridine-9, 11 (7H, 10H) -dione (1) which has both an isoalloxazine structure and a phenathroline-like structure within a molecule. In contrast to conventional flavins which do not exhibit any measurable affinity toward redox-inactive transition metal ions, 1 formed stable complexes with most heavy metal ions in acetonitrile probably by means of a flavin → metal charge transfer. Photooxidation of alcohols by 1 was efficiently accelerated in the presence of Mg(II) and Zn(II), the k1 (pseudo-first-order rate constant) being greater by 5.1-7l fold than those in the absence of metal ions. Such a marked rate increase was not observed for 3-methyl-10-ethylisoalloxazine used as a reference flavin. The aerobic photo-oxidation of benzyl alcohol by the 1・Zn(II) complex served as a light-mediated recycle oxidation catalyst. These results indicate that the flavin with a metal-chelation site is not only useful synthetically as a recycle-type oxidation catalyst but also capable of mimicking the flavin-metal interactions important in metalloflavoproteins

    Affinity for α-tocopherol transfer protein as a determinant of the biological activities of vitamin E analogs

    Abstractα-Tocopherol transfer protein (αTTP), a product of the gene which causes familial isolated vitamin E deficiency, plays an important role in determining the plasma vitamin E level. We examined the structural characteristics of vitamin E analogs required for recognition by αTTP. Ligand specificity was assessed by evaluating the competition of non-labeled vitamin E analogs and α-[3H]tocopherol for transfer between membranes in vitro. Relative affinities (RRR-α-tocopherol=100%) calculated from the degree of competition were as follows: β-tocopherol, 38%; γ-tocopherol, 9%; δ-tocopherol, 2%; α-tocopherol acetate, 2%; α-tocopherol quinone, 2%; SRR-α-tocopherol, 11%; α-tocotrienol, 12%; trolox, 9%. Interestingly, there was a linear relationship between the relative affinity and the known biological activity obtained from the rat resorption-gestation assay. From these observations, we conclude that the affinity of vitamin E analogs for αTTP is one of the critical determinants of their biological activity

    Analytical histopathological diagnosis of small hepatocellular nodules in chronic liver diseases

    Due to the recent progress in radiology and increased clinical and pathological interest, small hepatocellular nodules about 1 cm in size are frequently being detected in patients with chronic liver disease, particularly liver cirrhosis. Two new types of small hepatocellular nodules are now known: low-grade hepatocellular carcinomas (HCC) and dysplastic nodules, in addition to the previously known HCC (classical) and regenerative nodules. Ultrasound-guided needle biopsies from these nodules are routinely used for the differential diagnosis. For comparison, a simultaneous needle biopsy from the liver remote from the nodule is strongly recommended. Low- grade HCC, which are different from classical HCC in their morphological atypia and also biological behaviors, show local invasion into the portal tracts and surrounding hepatic parenchyma, but not intrahepatic or extrahepatic metastasis. Dysplastic nodules show mild cellular and structural atypia, a finding which is not sufficient for making a diagnosis of malignancy. An increased nuclear/cytoplasmic (N/C) ratio and nuclear crowding, small cell-dysplasia, increased cytoplasmic staining, clear cell change, pseudogland formation, and fatty change of hepatocytes are variably seen in these nodules. Nuclear changes, local invasion to the portal tract and surrounding liver, and loss of the reticulum fibers along the hepatocytes are useful markers favoring low-grade HCC rather than dysplastic nodules. These low-grade HCC and dysplastic nodules should also be distinguished from classical HCC as well as large-sized regenerative nodules. A comparative analysis of the histological findings observed in individual nodules is a reasonable approach to differential diagnosis at present. The recognition and analysis of these two new hepatocellular nodules may augur a new horizon in the study of hepatocellular neoplasm
