Minced goat meat organs (bicep fermoris muscle, heart, kidney and liver) of a particular variety of goat (Black Bengal) were stored aerobically in refrigerator at 4°C for 15 days after some combinationpretreatments: a) tea liquor and honey, b) acetic acid and glucose and c) spices and curing mixture; followed by subsequent refrigerated storage at 4°C. It was observed that pretreated samples exhibitedsignificantly (

Effect of fermentation and drying temperature on the characteristics of goat meat (Black Bengal variety) dry sausage

A new variety of fermented goat meat sausage was prepared from Black-Bengal goat. Lactic acid bacteria (LAB) Lactobacillus casei (NCIM 2586), Lactobacillus plantarum (NCIM 2083) and Pediococcus pentosaceus (NCIM 2245) were used as starter culture. Effect of temperature during fermentation and drying steps of sausage preparation was studied with respect to change in pH, lactic acid production, proximate composition, sensory characteristics and microbial characteristics in sausage (LAB count and viable aerobic cell count). Decrease in meat pH to 4.7–5.1 and corresponding increase in lactic acid production within 24 h of fermentation indicated potential use of combined starter culture in commercial production of fermented sausage. Among samples fermented at 25, 30 and 35°C, the one at 35°C was mostly acceptable industrially due to its lowest production cycle. The decrease in pH due to formation of lactic acid was directly proportional to the increase in drying temperature from 10 to 15°C. Sample fermented at 30°C, followed by drying at 10°C was the most acceptable sample with respect to sensory characteristics. Lactic bacterial cell count of sausage samples increased from 6.4 to 6.92 – 9.26 log cfu/ml within the fermentation period, then dropped to 6.19 –7.23 log cfu/ml at the end of dryin

Technical and economic analysis of a novel asymmetric PVT hybrid solar collector

PVT collectors produce both electricity and heat from the same area. A novel design for concentrating asymmetric PVT collector has been tested. By flowing the water inside the collector increases the electrical efficiency and produce hot water. For characterizing the new prototype, a test set-up was constructed in Älvkarleby at Solarus AB laboratory and in University of Darlana, Sweden to evaluate the electrical and thermal parameters. The results are discussed and an electrical and thermal performance analysis have been done with the Solarus PVT collector. The electrical efficiency has been observed with cell and receiver temperature. A thermal comparison is established between two different climates. One special prototype has been made for this thesis work with two different selective surface. The thermal efficiency respectively at zero reduced temperature for these two types of selective surfaces were 0.65 and 0.64, the U-value was 8.366 W/m2°C for the trough with Solkote selective coating and 8.606 W/m2°C for the trough with Q loss selective surface coating. The annual thermal output of these two selective surfaces has been calculated for two different geographic locations, Dhaka, Bangladesh and Älvkarleby, Sweden. An economic analysis has been performed of the Solarus collector for matured (subsidy free) and early adopter (with subsidy) market. The total cost with internal rate of return (IRR) has been calculated for different number of Solarus collector in Sweden. The potential customer and market have been identified

What Are the Factors Influence on Construction Safety? A Review

    Get PDF
Because of resource constraints, construction safety management is more difficult in underdeveloped nations. The aim of this paper is to explore and identify the key factors affecting construction site safety performance.  The first step in this study was a systematic assessment of 98 papers using a content qualitative approach. From this review, 12 influential factors for safety performance in construction projects were identified. Second, a framework was developed to illustrate the interactions between the identified factors at various project management levels. Furthermore, expert interviews were used to validate the framework. The findings of this study will help project managers better understand how different important safety issues at different construction project hierarchies affect the safety performance of the sites

Non-secretory multiple myeloma with extramedulary plasmocytoma

Non-secretory multiple myeloma (NSMM) is an uncommon variation of the classic form of multiple myeloma (MM) that has au analogous clinical and radiologic presentation except for the absence of the M-protein in sernm and/or urine. NSMM may have or not detectable monoclonal free light chain in urine/serum. We describe here a case of a 46-year-old woman who presented with back pain and lower limb weakness. A tumour lesion at DI level and multiple osteolytic bone lesions were found. This woman had no other symptoms and her basic blood biochemistry were nonnal. She had normal serum and urine protein electrophoresis. Biopsy from the D1 vertebra showed plasmocytoma. In the bone marrow, 20% atypical plasma cell fow1d, all were being CD38+ and CD 138+ in flowcytometry, confirming the diagnosis of myeloma presenting as NSMM. A high index of suspicion is needed to diagnose cases like this, as the biology ofNSMM is not completely understood

Multi Criteria Optimization Approach for Dressing of Vitrified Grinding Wheel

    Get PDF
Rotary diamond dressers are widely used for the dressing to improve the efficiency of vitrified grinding wheel. The paper focuses on the process parameters, i.e., feed speed of dresser, depth of cut, grinding wheel velocity, velocity ratio between grinding wheel and rotary dresser, number of pass and dressing method (up-cut or down-cut) in rotary diamond dressing. The objective is to investigate the effect of these process parameters with their interactions for two response parameters, dressing ratio and overlapped dressed area. As far as the response parameters are concerned, the goal is to maximize dressing ratio and minimize overlapped dressed area simultaneously. Thirty-six experiments were designed and performed. Analysis of variance and multi-criteria optimization approach are opted to find out significant process parameters and optimal parameter setting. Finally, the significant process parameters, dressing method and number of pass are identified as well and the optimal parameter setting is also determined

Symmetry Breaking with the SCAN Density Functional Describes Strong Correlation in the Singlet Carbon Dimer

The SCAN (strongly constrained and appropriately normed) meta-generalized gradient approximation (meta-GGA), which satisfies all 17 exact constraints that a meta-GGA can satisfy, accurately describes equilibrium bonds that are normally correlated. With symmetry breaking, it also accurately describes some sd equilibrium bonds that are strongly correlated. While sp equilibrium bonds are nearly always normally correlated, the C2 singlet ground state is known to be a rare case of strong correlation in an sp equilibrium bond. Earlier work that calculated atomization energies of the molecular sequence B2, C2, O2, and F2 in the local spin density approximation (LSDA), the Perdew-Burke-Ernzerhof (PBE) GGA, and the SCAN meta-GGA, without symmetry breaking in the molecule, found that only SCAN was accurate enough to reveal an anomalous under-binding for C2. This work shows that spin symmetry breaking in singlet C2, the appearance of net up- and down-spin densities on opposite sides (not ends) of the bond, corrects that under-binding, with a small SCAN atomization-energy error more like that of the other three molecules, suggesting that symmetry-breaking with an advanced density functional might reliably describe strong correlation. This article also discusses some general aspects of symmetry breaking, and the insights into strong correlation that symmetry-breaking can bring.Comment: 10 pages, 3 figures, 1 Tabl
