    SailfishOS is a Linux kernel-based embedded device operation system, mostly deployed on cell phones. Currently, there is no sufficient research in this space, and at the same time, this operating system is gaining popularity, so it is likely for investigators to encounter it in the field. This paper focuses on mapping the digital artifacts pertinent to an investigation, which can be found on the filesystem of a phone running SailfishOS 3.2. Currently, there is no other known publicly available research and no commercially available solutions for the acquisition and analysis of this platform. This is a major gap, as the adoption of this OS is accelerating in emerging markets on low-cost devices.     Spain's Historical Memory Law: a study of successful historical reconciliation

    I explore the Historical Memory Law (Ley 52/2007) as a successful model of historical reconciliation. I argue that the HML can be conceived as a renewed source of legitimacy for the Spanish state and as a progressive model of reconciliation, applicable to democratizing countries. First, I address how the pacted transition has affected reparation and rehabilitation efforts. Second, I respond to the critics by extensively analyzing the legal framework and victim compensations from the onset of the Transition. Autonomous division of power and the legacy of the pacted transition emerge as limiting factors in HML implementation. Thirdly, I identify left-leaning regional parties as the key actor in the political effort and propose a comprehensive four-stage model that maps out the reconciliation effort (negation, amnesia, accommodation, reconciliation). I conclude that historical reconciliation will deal with memory recuperation (exhumations, symbols removal, sentences annulment) and depend on a new generation of post-Transition Spaniards

    Management of the Kidney Transplant Patient with Chronic Hepatitis C Infection

    Chronic Hepatitis C (HCV) infection is an important cause of morbidity and mortality in patients with end-stage renal disease. Renal transplantation confers a survival advantage in HCV-infected patients. Renal transplant candidates with serologic evidence of HCV infection should undergo a liver biopsy to assess for fibrosis and cirrhosis. Patients with Metavir fibrosis score ≤3 and compensated cirrhosis should be evaluated for interferon-based therapy. Achievement of sustained virological response (SVR) may reduce the risks for both posttransplantation hepatic and extrahepatic complications such as de novo or recurrent glomerulonephritis associated with HCV. Patients who cannot achieve SVR and have no live kidney donor may be considered for HCV-positive kidneys. Interferon should be avoided after kidney transplant except for treatment of life-threatening liver injury, such as fibrosing cholestatic hepatitis. Early detection, prevention, and treatment of complications due to chronic HCV infection may improve the outcomes of kidney transplant recipients with chronic HCV infection

    Bioactive glass in the treatment of infected pseudoarthrosis of the distal tibia in a thirty five years old man. Case report

    Among the most serious complications of modern osteosyntheses are nonunion and infections. The pathology is challenging even for experienced surgeons, and the treatment often ends in failure. Bioactive glass represents an attractive alternative to conventional methods, as it combines a unique chemical formula (53% SiO2, 23% Na2O, 20% CaO and 4% P2O) that is osteoinductive and increases the local pH as well as the osmotic pressure, which leads to its antibacterial effect. Herein, we present a clinical case of a 35-year-old man with infected pseudarthrosis of the distal tibia treated with bioactive glass. The excellent clinical and radiological results at the 6-month follow-up and positive data from the literature lead us to be optimistic about the treatment of these severe conditions

    Nuclear Properties of a Sample of Nearby Spirals from STIS [Space Telescope Imaging Spectrograph] Imaging

    We present surface photometry for the central regions of a sample of 48 spiral galaxies (mostly unbarred and barred of types Sbc or Sc) observed with the Space Telescope Imaging Spectrograph on board the Hubble Space Telescope. Surface brightness profiles were derived and modeled with a Nuker law. We also analyzed archival Wide Field Planetary Camera 2 images with a larger field of view, available for 18 galaxies in our sample. We modeled the extracted bulge surface brightness profiles with an exponential, an r1/4, or an rn profile. In agreement with previous studies, we find that bulges of Sbc galaxies fall into two categories: bulges well described by an exponential profile and those well described by an r1/4 profile. Only one galaxy requires the use of a more general Sersic profile to properly describe the bulge. Nuclear photometrically distinct components are found in ∼ 55% of the galaxies. For those that we classify as star clusters based on their resolved extent we find absolute magnitudes that are brighter on average than those previously identified in spiral galaxies. This might be due to a bias in our sample toward star forming galaxies, combined with a trend for star forming galaxies to host brighter central clusters. (Refer to PDF file for exact formulas)

    Background Light in Potential Sites for the ANTARES Undersea Neutrino Telescope

    The ANTARES collaboration has performed a series of {\em in situ} measurements to study the background light for a planned undersea neutrino telescope. Such background can be caused by 40^{40}K decays or by biological activity. We report on measurements at two sites in the Mediterranean Sea at depths of 2400~m and 2700~m, respectively. Three photomultiplier tubes were used to measure single counting rates and coincidence rates for pairs of tubes at various distances. The background rate is seen to consist of three components: a constant rate due to 40^{40}K decays, a continuum rate that varies on a time scale of several hours simultaneously over distances up to at least 40~m, and random bursts a few seconds long that are only correlated in time over distances of the order of a meter. A trigger requiring coincidences between nearby photomultiplier tubes should reduce the trigger rate for a neutrino telescope to a manageable level with only a small loss in efficiency.Comment: 18 pages, 8 figures, accepted for publication in Astroparticle Physic
