The object of this research is to elaborate a model of organizational stress and to establish a hierarchical scale of various organizational stressors in addition to validating such a scale. Many researchers, amongst them Beehr, Walsh and Taber have established, the fact that stress related to task role such as role ambiguity and non participation has an effect on fatigue, tension and job dissatisfaction. However, up to now, no effort has been made to take stock of the many different organizational stressors. Therefore, an organizational stressors scale was built using the Delphi Technique. The scale was then tested amongst 148 managers in 10 different organizations. This research demonstrated that there exists a relationship between organizational stress and psychological stress manifestation such as aggressiveness, depression and concentration problems, as well as physiological stress manifestation such as insomnia, gastrointestinal and respiratory problems. This research has also proved that there is a relationship between high organizational stress scores and a high rate of use or abuse of pharmaceutical products such as stimulants

Towards A Typology Of Parental Behaviors, Attitudes, And Beliefs About School
The social and academic experiences of children and adolescents in school are a major concern for parents and their characteristics as protection or risk factors for their children’s adaptation has been extensively studied. However, few studies have dealt with the behaviors, attitudes and beliefs of parents about the schools their children are enrolled in. The aim of this study was to address that issue. A random sample of 1297 parents drawn from 8 large Canadian school boards took part in standardized individual interviews which yielded both quantitative and qualitative information on demographics, family structure, time management, attitudes, behaviors and beliefs about school, along with data on their children’s school achievement and overall adaptation. A dynamic grouping analysis was applied to salient variables which generated a four group typology of parents: collaborators, critics, overwhelmed, and ill-equipped. Results further indicated that only a very small number of participants did not value education, as opposed to earlier findings where they represented a significant proportion of parents. Practical implications of these results for school administrators, parents and educators will be discussed
Currently metal silicide constitutes a crucial component in the formation of
electrical contacts for transistors that forms the heart of modern day integrated
circuits. As we reduce the dimensions of the latter, we are faced with serious
problems of formation, related for example to the process limitation due to the weak
density of germination sites. The objective of this project is to study at small scale
the synthesis mechanisms of metal silicide, in particular NiSi, and to determine the
effect of Si implantation damage on the phase sequence. We have determined the
different phase sequences of the Ni-Si system for samples composed of a 10 nm Ni
surface layer deposited on a-Si. These were obtained by time resolved x-ray
diffraction (TR-XRD) measurements. As for samples quenched at critical
temperatures we identified the different phases, their composition and their
microstructure were determined by pole figures, Rutherford back scattering (RBS)
spectrometry and transmission electron microscopy (TEM). We noted that for
approximately half the samples, a spontaneous reaction happened before annealing.
The result of the reaction was hexagonal Ni2Si, a phase unstable at room temperature,
mixed with NiSi. In theses samples, the temperature of formation for the phase of
interest, the NiSi, was lower

Development of a highly optimized procedure for the discovery of RNA G-quadruplexes by combining several strategies
Abstract : RNA G-quadruplexes (rG4s) are non-canonical secondary structures that are formed by the selfassociation of guanine quartets and that are stabilized by monovalent cations (e.g. potassium). rG4s are key elements in several post-transcriptional regulation mechanisms, including both messenger RNA (mRNA) and microRNA processing, mRNA transport and translation, to name but a few examples. Over the past few years, multiple high-throughput approaches have been developed in order to identify rG4s, including bioinformatic prediction, in vitro assays and af nity capture experiments coupled to RNA sequencing. Each individual approach had its limits, and thus yielded only a fraction of the potential rG4 that are further con rmed (i.e., there is a signi cant level of false positive). This report aims to bene t from the strengths of several existing approaches to identify rG4s with a high potential of being folded in cells. Brie y, rG4s were pulled-down from cell lysates using the biotinylated biomimetic G4 ligand BioTASQ and the sequences thus isolated were then identi ed by RNA sequencing. Then, a novel bioinformatic pipeline that included DESeq2 to identify rG4 enriched transcripts, MACS2 to identify rG4 peaks, rG4-seq to increase rG4 formation probability and G4RNA Screener to detect putative rG4s was performed. This work ow uncovers new rG4 candidates whose rG4-folding was then con rmed in vitro using an array of established biophysical methods. Clearly, this work ow led to the identi cation of novel rG4s in a highly specic and reliable manner
