This study examines situation of Turkey and Albanian rural areas and problems areasin the context of EU integration. The new policy instruments and their using to adoptCAP reforms in these countries were discussed in the study. Furthermore, Instrumentfor Pre-Accession Assistance (IPA) funds was review for both countries. As a resultthese funds will be carried out just four sector, milk, meat, chicken, and fruitvegetableand aqua products for 2007-2013 period (290 million Euro) in Turkey.Albania look like as a potential member of EU, the limited efficiency of Albanianagriculture, the output and income generated from agriculture is low, as compared toEU standards. To promote EU standards, 1323 million Euro (the share of IPA is 4.6 % oftotal amount) will be used for 2008-2010 for integration to EU by Albania

This study aims at determining the effect sizes of perceptions and opinions of teachers regarding classroom management skills and competencies according to their gender. 19 journal articles out of 28 journal articles specializing on teachers’ classroom management skills and competencies in Turkey downloaded from the national thesis archives of Higher Education Institution appropriate to inclusion criteria are included in the study. Also, moderators which could not be included to the assessment of primary researches as publication type, publication year, region where study conducted, educational level, school type, scale type, branches of the teachers and gender of the researcher moderators were analyzed as variables. As a result, according to fixed effects model (d=0,149) and random effects model (d=0,133) in favor of female teachers, effect size was statistically significant. Moderator analysis revealed that publication type (p=0,001), type of scale (either ready or improved) (p=0,049) and validity and reliability studies (p=0,008) were found as moderators. Furthermore, effect sizes of researches showed that gender awareness included a continuing tendency over the years. Moderator analysis showed that school type (p=0,054), educational level (p=0,477), region where research was conducted (p=0,075), teachers’ branches (p=0,257) and gender of the researchers were not considered as moderators. As a result, it is recommended not to use gender as an important independent variable in studies in relation to teachers’ perceptions and opinions on classroom management skills and competencies

A concise review on the use of mesenchymal stem cells in cell sheet-based tissue engineering with special emphasis on bone tissue regeneration

    Get PDF
The integration of stem cell technology and cell sheet engineering improved the potential use of cell sheet products in regenerative medicine. This review will discuss the use of mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) in cell sheet-based tissue engineering. Besides their adhesiveness to plastic surfaces and their extensive differentiation potential in vitro, MSCs are easily accessible, expandable in vitro with acceptable genomic stability, and few ethical issues. With all these advantages, they are extremely well suited for cell sheet-based tissue engineering. This review will focus on the use of MSC sheets in osteogenic tissue engineering. Potential application techniques with or without scaffolds and/or grafts will be discussed. Finally, the importance of osteogenic induction of these MSC sheets in orthopaedic applications will be demonstrated. © 2017 A. Cagdas Yorukoglu et al

Utilization of walnut shells as filler in polymer composites

In this study, the utilisability of Walnut Shell (WS) flour in polypropylene (PP) and high density polyethylene (HDPE) matrix composites are investigated due to its relative hardness and availability. The WS flour was compounded with PP and HDPE at 50% (weight) content with and without coupling agent in a single screw extruder. Then, granulated compositions were manufactured by press moulding process. Some mechanical properties (Tensile, impact, flexural strength), TGA and DSC were performed on the polymer composites samples. When WS flour were added 3% coupling agent bending properties of the HDPE and PP samples increased to 1340 MPa and 1514 MPa, respectively. However, WS2 samples which HDPE composites type was added 3% coupling agent in the form showed 26% lower impact factor than WS1. The addition of coupling agents improved the properties of polymer composites. MAPE coupling agents performed better in HDPE while MAPP coupling agents were superior in PP based composites. According to mechanical properties of the composites groups, the lowest strength was in the WS3 which content 50% PP without couple agent. All produced composites provided mechanical properties required by the ASTM D662 standard for plastic lumber decking boards. The analysis showed that MAPE didn’t affect to thermal degradation of 47% WS filled HDPE composites samples. Melting temperature was around WS1 and WS2 130 °C while WS3 and WS4 around 165 °C. The second melting peak temperature of WS2 composites with 3% coupling agent was around 170 °C. As a result Walnut shell which was considered agricultural waste can be utilized in polymer composite production

Bioenergy in the Black Sea Basin Countries: Status, Prospects and Possibilities

    Get PDF
In recent years, concern about global climate change and air quality has increased interest in bioenergy from renewable sources. Bioenergy has several environmental advantages over fossil fuel. Amongst renewable energy sources, the biggest contribution (63%) comes from biomass. Biomass represents the cheapest and most abundant feedstock available in large volume. Approximately 80 billion tons of biomass in forest is produced in the world annually. Within the scope of sustainable development, bioenergy usage becomes crucial also in Black Sea Basin Countries. In this paper, status, prospects and possibilities of bioenergy production and usage in the Black Sea Basin Countries were reviewed

Hiccup Due to Aripiprazole Plus Methylphenidate Treatment in an Adolescent with Attention Deficit and Hyperactivity Disorder and Conduct Disorder: A Case Report

    Get PDF
Our case had hiccups arising in an adolescent with the attention deficit and hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) and conduct disorder (CD) after adding aripiprazole treatment to extended-release methylphenidate. Actually, antipsychotics are also used in the treatment of hiccups, but studies suggest that they can cause hiccups as well. Within 12 hours of taking 2.5 mg aripiprazole added to extended-release methylphenidate at a dose of 54 mg/day, 16-year-old boy began having hiccups in the morning, which lasted after 3-4 hours. As a result, aripiprazole was discontinued and methylphenidate was continued alone because we could not convince the patient to use another additional drug due to this side effect. Subsequently, when his behavior got worsened day by day, his mother administered aripiprazole alone again at the dose of 2.5 mg/day at the weekend and continued treatment because hiccup did not occur again. But when it was administered with methylphenidate on Monday, hiccup started again next morning and lasted one hour at this time. In conclusion, we concluded that concurrent use of methylphenidate and aripiprazole in this adolescent led to hiccups

Use of Complementary and Alternative Therapies in Autism Spectrum Disorder

    Get PDF
Autism spectrum disorder (ASD) is a neurodevelopmental disorder which has multifactorial etiology. Parents of children diagnosed with ASD often use complementary and alternative medicine (CAM) on the grounds that they do not benefit from traditional medical treatments. In this article it is aimed to clarify the definition of CAM, to examine the prevalence of the use of CAM in ASD, to examine the CAM interventions and their efficacy used in ASD, and to review the studies about use of CAM among children diagnosed ASD in Turkey. For this purpose, publications in the Science Citation Index (SCI) and SCI-Expanded, MEDLINE, PsycINFO, DergiPark, TÜBİTAK/ULAKBİM-Turkish Medical Index, Turkish Psychiatry Index and Turkish Medline indexes were reviewed. Although current data on the effectiveness of CAM is limited, considering the usage rates, physicians should be informed about CAM interventions, clearly ask about the use of CAM and share information on the subject
