    Quantum Information Metric on R×Sd1\mathbb{R} \times S^{d-1}

    We present a formula for the information metric on R×Sd1\mathbb{R} \times {S}^{d-1} for a scalar primary operator of integral dimension Δ(>d+12)\Delta \, (\,\, > \frac{d+1}{2}). This formula is checked for various space-time dimensions dd and Δ\Delta in the field theory side. We check the formula in the gravity side using the holographic setup. We clarify the regularization and renormalization involved in these computations. We also show that the quantum information metric of an exactly marginal operator agrees with the leading order of the interface free energy of the conformal Janus on Euclidean Sd{S}^d, which is checked for d=2,3d=2, 3.Comment: 21 pages, 2 figure

    Entanglement entropy vs. free energy in IIB supergravity duals for 5d SCFTs

    We study entanglement entropy and the free energy in recently constructed holographic duals for 5d SCFTs in type IIB supergravity. The solutions exhibit mild singularities, which could potentially complicate holographic applications. We use the relation of the entanglement entropy for a spherical entangling surface to the free energy of the field theory on the five sphere as a well-motivated benchmark to assess how problematic the singularities are. The holographic supergravity computations give well-defined results for both quantities and they satisfy the expected relations. This supports the interpretation of the solutions as holographic duals for 5d SCFTs and gives first quantitative indications for the nature of the dual SCFTs.Comment: 25 pages, 3 figure

    TCC (graduação) - Universidade Federal de Santa Catarina. Centro de Ciências Agrárias. Curso de Agronomia.Diante do cenário mundial frente à degradação ambiental, políticas públicas como o Cadastro Ambiental Rural contribuem para a conservação da natureza, necessitando-se de práticas agrícolas que subsidiem agricultores e técnicos extensionistas na recuperação de áreas com passivo ambiental da propriedade agrícola. O objetivo desse trabalho foi avaliar o Método Camping de Recuperação de Áreas Degradadas, a partir do levantamento florístico e de indicadores ecológicos de diversidade, a fim de inferir sobre sua contribuição aos processos que desencadeiam a sucessão ecológica. O experimento foi conduzido em área anexa ao Camping do Parque Estadual do Rio Vermelho, em Florianópolis, Santa Catarina. Foram avaliados três fragmentos da paisagem: área 1, chamada de mancha de fertilidade e manejada com o Método Camping; a segunda área sofreu corte raso de Pinus elliottii; a área 3 não sofreu interferência sendo a área controle. Foram analisados o Valor de Cobertura, a riqueza, a equabilidade e a diversidade de cada comunidade. Os resultados mostraram que não houve diferença significativa para as variáveis analisadas entre T1 e T2; T3 apresentou uniformidade na riqueza com apenas uma espécie dominante. Conclui-se que o método analisado é promissor em recuperar áreas degradadas por apresentar espécies chave para impulsionar a sucessão ecológicaIn view of the world scenario of environmental degradation, public policies such as the Rural Environmental Registry contribute to nature conservation, Agricultural practices are needed to help farmers and extension agents in the restoration of areas with environmental damage. The objective of this work was to evaluate the Campground Method of Recuperation of Degraded Areas, with a botanical survey and use of ecological indicators of diversity, in order to understand the processes that contribute to ecological succession. The experiment was conducted in an area adjacent to the Campground of the State Park of Rio Vermelho, in Florianópolis, Santa Catarina. Three fragments of the landscape were evaluated: area 1, called a fertility spot and managed with the Campground Method; The second area was a clear-cut of Pinus elliottii; Area 3 did not suffer interference being the control area. Ground cover, species wealth, equability and diversity of each community were analyzed. The results showed that there was no significant difference for the variables analyzed between T1 and T2; T3 showed uniformity in richness with only one dominant species. The Campground method is promising in recovering degraded areas by favoring key species to boost ecological successio

    INFLUENCE OF PULSATILE CATHETER PUMP SYNCHRONIZATION ON HAEMODYNAMIC VARIABLES: NUMERICAL SIMULATION

    Severe cardiovascular diseases can be treated using left ventricular assist devices (LVAD). One of the possible LVADs is the Pulsatile Catheter (PUCA) pump that consists of a hydraulically or pneumatically driven membrane pump connected to a valved catheter. In this work a numerical model of the cardiocirculatory system and of the PUCA have been developed in order to study their interaction. In the numerical simulator a pathological condition of the left ventricle has been reproduced and successively the effects of the PUCA on the haemodynamic variables applied were studied. Different functioning modes were tested by changing the ratio between the pump frequency and the heart beat rate (HR) as 1:1, 1:2 or 1:3 and by introducing a delay time between the cardiac and the PUCA cycle. The performance of the pump was evaluated in terms of cardiac output, PUCA and coronary flows and it was studied for different HR values. Results show a good resemblance between the model and literature data and indicate that different synchronization and timing can influence the functioning of the pump. In particular, the frequency ratio and the time delay of the pump cycle can contribute to optimize the performance of the PUCA
