In the progressive journey of society, the role of education extends beyond knowledge transmission to shaping critical thinking and civic consciousness. However, the pervasive influence of market economics has presented both challenges and opportunities for education, particularly in the realm of political theory. At Tan Trao University, the interaction between market economics and political theory education for students is an indispensable issue. Nevertheless, upon closer examination, it becomes evident that this impact transcends mere financial considerations, involving the intersection of preparing for the labor market and the higher education mission of imparting knowledge and nurturing intellect. In this context, careful and nuanced considerations in approaching political theory education become paramount, aiming ultimately to cultivate citizens with profound understanding, critical thinking skills, and readiness to engage in societal development and construction.&nbsp

    Get PDF
The study region named San-En-Nanshin region (includes Aichi, part of Nagano and Shizuoka prefecture) is considered as a model of integrated dispersed regions and taken into the National Comprehensive Development Plan of Japanese government under Regional Revitalization Project. A large scale expressway connecting north and south named San-En-Nanshin Expressway is under construction in the study region. It is expected that with the completion of the expressway, the trade, production and consumption pattern of the region will significantly be changed. Therefore this research idea is to develop a model and to test empirically the impact of distance/ commuting time after construction of San-En-Nanshin Expressway upon firm's profit maximization and households' utility maximization behavior in San-En-Nanshin region. The research aims to draw an outline of a new integrated prefectural cross-border economic model of transport, land choice and the economy at firm and household level. In later parts, this research also intends to draw the location choice behavior and corresponding market equilibrium conditions based on transportation demand. As the results, combining this model and the short cut method for the evaluation of economic benefit of a transportation project under the general equilibrium framework, the total annual benefit after construction of San-En-Nanshin Expressway was estimated as 24.3 billion yen, at which 6.3 billion yen for business objective and 18 billion yen for leisure objective. The economic impact of San-En-Nanshin Expressway on Hamamatsu, Nanshin is largest as about 9.7 billion yen. Mito, Otawa, Ichinomiya, Tsukude get little impact. The total project cost of San-En-Nanshin Expressway is estimated as 500 billion yen or 1 trillion yen. If the project cost is about 500 billion yen, the construction of San-En-Nanshin Expressway passes the cost benefit criteria. In case of project cost of 1 trillion yen, this project is rejected under the cost-benefit principle. In this case, one must consider the way of increasing the benefit of the expressway by promotion of economic resource endowment in the sense of quality.

Due to the tremendous energy consumption growth with ever-increasing connected devices, alternative wireless information and power transfer techniques are important not only for theoretical research but also for saving operational costs and for a sustainable growth of wireless communications. In this paper, we investigate the multi-source in decode-and-forward cooperative networks with the power splitting protocol based full-duplex energy harvesting relaying network over a Rayleigh fading channel. In this system model, the multi-source and the destination communicate with each other by both the direct link and an intermediate helping relay. First, we investigate source selection for the best system performance. Then, the closed-form expression of the outage probability and the symbol error ratio are derived. Finally, the Monte Carlo simulation is used for validating the analytical expressions in connection with all main possible system parameters. The research results show that the analytical and simulation results matched well with each other.Web of Science68327526

Thesis supervisors: Drs. Mengshi Lin, Azlin Mustapha.Includes vita. There has been increasing application of novel nanomaterials in recent years in the area of agriculture and food science. This dissertation aims to study novel nanomaterials and investigate their applications in food safety, and to develop and use surface-enhanced Raman spectroscopy (SERS) as a rapid, simple, and sensitive analytical method to improve food safety. There have been increasing applications of nanomaterials in various areas, which may cause human exposure and environmental pollution. Therefore, it is important to study the toxicity of different nanomaterials against bacteria and human cells. The objectives of this study were to: (1) develop new types of substrate consisting of monolayer graphene, gold film, and/or gold nanorod structures; (2) detect and measure silver nanoparticles (Ag NPs) in consumer products using SERS and aminothiophenol as an indicator molecule; (3) investigate the effect of graphene oxide (GO) on human intestinal bacteria and human intestinal cells; (4) study the antimicrobial activity of selenium nanoparticles (Se NPs) against foodborne pathogens and the toxicity of Se NPs against Caco-2 cells. A simple, fast, and efficient method was developed to fabricate new SERS substrates by coating a gold nanorod-decorated graphene sheet on silicone substrate. The results demonstrate that GO is biocompatible and has a potential to be used in agriculture and food science, indicating that more studies are needed to exploit its potential applications. The data show that Se NPs can be used as an antimicrobial agent to inhibit the growth of Staphylococcus aureus in foods and can potentially be used as a chemopreventative and chemotherapeutic agent. More studies are needed to elucidate the mechanisms of Se NPs and GO's cytotoxicity and their antibacterial properties. More research is also needed to improve the performance of SERS substrates using different materials and use them in improving food safety.Includes bibliographical references (pages 132-168)

This article reports the results of an experimental study testing the effects of the use of Task-Based Learning on EFL students’ intrinsic motivation to learn reading and reading comprehension. The study was conducted in a high school in the Mekong Delta of Vietnam where English teaching methods are still lagged behind innovative developments in English language pedagogy. Sixty-nine tenth-grade students from two intact classes participated in this study. Participants were assigned in either control or experimental group. A questionnaire and two reading tests were used to collect quantitative data about participants’ motivation and achievement in reading comprehension. Interviews were followed to investigate participants’ attitude towards the use of task-bask learning in their reading lessons. Results indicated that participants’ intrinsic motivation in the experimental group increased and both groups showed significant improvement in reading comprehension. Participants in the experimental group addressed benefits and challenges in learning reading comprehension with Task-Based Learning. To help students enhance their reading comprehension, teachers may take into consideration the use of both Task-Based Learning and Grammar-Translation Method

An inquiry into the determinants of Vietnamese product export

    Get PDF
Export led growth is the model of economic development that Vietnam has been following. While there are a great number of studies on the determinants of aggregate export of Vietnam, there are few that analyze the impacts of different factors on the export of different product groups. This paper aims at filling this gap in research on international trade of Vietnam. The results show that the fast GDP growth of Vietnam, the large population of importing countries, the wide economic gap between Vietnam and the importing countries, the depreciation of domestic currency, the free trade agreements that Vietnam signed and the shared border with the importing countries contribute to the increase of Vietnam’s export of all product groups. In contrast, the GDP of importing countries and population of Vietnam have no clear impacts on the export of any product groups.

    Get PDF
In this paper, we introduce a half-duplex (HD) energy harvesting (EH) relay network over the different fading environment with the effect of hardware impairment (HI). The model system was investigated with the amplify-and-forward (AF) and the power splitting (PS) protocols. The system performance analysis in term of the outage probability (OP), achievable throughput (AT), and bit error rate (BER) were demonstrated with the closed-form expressions. In addition, the power splitting (PS) factor was investigated. We verified the analytical analysis by Monte Carlo simulation with all primary parameters. From the results, we can state that the analytical and simulation results match well with each other.Web of Science911art. no. Unsp 228

Nowadays, harvesting energy (EH) from green environmental sources and converting this energy into the electrical energy used in purpose to supply the communication network devices is considered the main research direction. In this research, we investigate the hybrid TSR-PSR Nonlinear Energy Harvesting (EH) Half-duplex (HD) Relaying network in terms of the Success Probability (SP). For this purpose, we derive the integral-form of the system SP. In addition, we use the Monte Carlo simulation for verifying the correctness of the analytical expression. We can see in the research results that all the simulation and analytical values are the same in connection with all primary system parameters
