Hydroxylapatite (HA) is a frequently used bioceramic material for replacement of bone matter subjected to low loading conditions, for osseoconductive coatings on implants and for utilisation as a drug carrier. Plasma spraying is widely used to coat hydroxylapatite onto titanium alloys in hip endoprostheses. However, the high temperature of the plasma jet changes the crystallinity and decomposes hydroxylapatite. This affects in turn its bioconductivity. In this study, HA was coated onto Ti6Al4V substrates by atmospheric plasma spraying (APS). Also, a bionert TiO2 bond coat was applied between the HA coating and the titanium alloy. By means of some sensitive analytical techniques, notably nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) and Raman spectroscopy, the structural decomposition of HA during plasma-spraying and the in vitro reconstruction mechanisms of distorted (oxy)hydroxylapatite to well-ordered hydroxylapatite were investigated. The advantages of such a bond coat were also shown.thesi

This study examines Hanoi’s current international tourism development efforts, focusing on tourism service quality. It aims to assess the relevance of the current policies in place and the quality of the services provided to foreigners in Hanoi. To do so, it investigates three prominent sites, namely, Hoan Kiem Lake, Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum, Van Mieu – Quoc Tu Giam. A survey conducted at these tourism landmarks, in-depth interviews, direct observation in the investigated places and secondary sources from published magazines and materials provide the data used in this study to make recommendations. Quality service issues are analyzed along SERVQUAL five dimensions. The results show that there are still several drawbacks in knowledge value, environmental landscape, safety, attitude and tourism infrastructure. Relevant strategies designed to enhance Hanoi tourism quality for foreigners in the future are recommended. The various proposals made include among others raising people’ awareness, setting a concrete institutional framework, enacting and executing the laws, and sharpening the staff’s skills

    Get PDF
The objective of this study was to assess the current situation of generation and management of plastic waste in Thoi Lai district, Can Tho city, Vietnam through collecting domestic solid waste samples from 30 households and interviewing 150 households using questionaires. The results showed that the average amount of domestic solid waste was 0.3 kg/person/day, in which the plastic waste accounted for 11.7% with generation rate of 0.035 kg/person/day. Shopping bags were dominant accounting for 34.7%, single-use plastic products accounting for 18.5% and food packaging plastic bags accounting for 9.51%. The generation rates of domestic solid waste and plastic waste had positive correlation with household’s size and income. In addition, the rate of plastic waste generation also appeared to have a relationship with the characteristics of the study area. Plastic waste has not been classified but it is mixed with other domestic solid waste. Knowledge of plastic waste impact has not been widely propagated in the community. Therefore, appropriate measures should be implemented to reduce municipal waste and plastic wastes

Application of Different Evapotranspiration Models to Calculate Total Agricultural Water Demand in a Tropical Region

Today, water in the Long Xuyen Quadrangle-An Giang (LXQAG)(Mekong River delta, Vietnam) is becoming scarce in some seasonsand some districts in the region, especially when the scenariosof climate change will affect water resources in the future. Therefore, it is necessary to make decisions about water conservationand distribution to ensure compatibility with the socialobjectives such as economic efficiency, sustainability and fairness. The mathematical models used for water distribution andbalance calculations are the prominent themes nowadays. To performthis task, it needs to calculate the water needs for all economicsectors. In this article we are particularly concerned aboutwater demand calculation methods for crops and aquaculture.Because these are the two main commodities accounting for thehighest water usage in the region. Water demand for crops is calculatedthrough potential evaporation using the methods of Hargreaves& Samani; Priestley and Taylor and Penman-Monteithto check if the first two simpler methods with less data demandcould be used to estimate evapotranspiration. The results showthat the simpler methods were significantly different and thereforewater demand calculations must be based on the Penman-Monteith method for the water demand of crops and the methodsof Penman to calculate expansion evaporation for aquaculture. The result shows that the total water demand in 2015 is 6,428million m3/year. It is estimated that in 2020, agricultural waterdemand will rise by 71% compared to 2015 to 22,531 millionm3/year. The main reason for this rise is that the local managersexpect the catfish farming area to increase by 80%, if peopleapply the “VietGAP standards”

Water Demand Estimation for Rice in An Giang Province by Hargreaves Evapotranspiration Model

Rice production in An Giang has been developing sustainably in recent years, contributing to ensuring national food security. However, it is facing the effect of climate change, sea level rise, salinity intrusion, drought which threatens food production. Therefore, it is necessary to calculate water demand for agriculture in order to properly plan water resources. Especially, the calculation of water demand for rice, because rice accounts for more than 80% of the area compared to other plants in the region. In this study, we was using Hargreaves model to calculate potential  evaporation (ET). Through ET, we can calculat the water demand for the study region. The calculation results showed that the average water demand for the Summer-Autumn crop was 6,650m3/ha, while the Winter-Spring rice area was higher than the Summer-Autumn crop, but the water demand was only 5,929m3/ha. The lowest water demand wa the Autumn-Winter crop 3,424.7m3/ha. The total water demand for rice crops in 2020 of the whole An Giang province was 3,506,429,880 m3

    Get PDF
One of the main goals of language learners is to master all four skills of listening, speaking, reading and writing when it comes to their acquisition of the target language. However, during the process of learning English, learners inevitably face a variety of challenges related to their writing including grammatical errors, word choice, organization, idea development, and most importantly their difficulties in using collocations (Duong & Nguyen, 2021). Therefore, this study has been conducted to investigate the students’ use of English collocations in their academic essays associated with their difficulties so that appropriate pedagogical approaches and practices would be taken into consideration in order to help students improve their English collocational competences in academic writing. This descriptive study was carried out with 103 English-majored students of the High-quality program of the School of Foreign Languages at Can Tho University, Vietnam. A 5-point Likert scale survey with 18 questionnaire items was employed to examine the frequency of students' exposure to as well as their usage of English collocations, and their difficulties in using English collocations. The results of this study have shown that the most commonly used collocations in the students’ academic essays were ‘verb + noun’, and ‘adjective + noun’ lexical collocations. Additionally, the research outcomes have revealed that the types of English collocations that the students were more likely to make the most mistakes belonged to ‘verb + adverb’, and ‘adjective + noun’ lexical collocations.  Article visualizations
