Technology Diffusion, North-South Spillovers and Industrial Location

Relying on a model of economic geography, this paper discusses development opportunities arising from international trade and technology diffusion. We show that either import substitution or trade liberalization may trigger takeoff in the developing country, although these two policies work through different mechanisms. The industrialization process is also influenced by knowledge spillovers: strong international technology diffusion offers better prospects for the developing country to benefit from technological externalities provided abroad. Thus, one objective of the developing country should be to enhance its absorptive capacity in order to exploit these technological externalities. In this context, only import substitution trade policy seems to be successful in financing indigenous learning process. However, this result is strongly dependent on the effectiveness of budgetary resource allocation.

Concepts are both the result of the reflection of the human objective world, and the reasoning means for people to continue to perceive and improve the world. Concept is the first stage in the process of perceiving human reason. Comprehending the concept, in order to be effective, requires a lot of effort and effort of the subject of awareness, needs to have a certain understanding of the law of perception, the law of psychophysiology ... and the help of people. ahead. Dealing With Non-Performing Loans During The Bank Restructuring Process in Vietnam: Assessment Using The AHP and TOPSIS Methods

    Get PDF
This article aims to assess the solutions that have been implemented in Vietnam to deal with non-performing loan(s) (NPLs) in the banking system. By trying to build evaluation criteria through a literature review and an expert survey, as well as using the analytic hierarchy process (AHP) and technique for order preference by similarity to ideal solution (TOPSIS), this research measures the effectiveness of the resolution of NPLs in Vietnam through many factors. The empirical results show that, in the past, the banking system in Vietnam has not dealt very well with bad debt, as it mostly uses traditional methods such as NPL write-offs by loan loss reserves or the liquidation of collateral. Based on our consideration of the NPLs’ resolutions that the Vietnamese banking system has implemented recently, we propose some suggestions to improve the necessary conditions for applying more market-based solutions, such as debt-equity swaps and securitization to thoroughly resolve the NPLs in Vietna

Essays on Human Capital Development and Socio-economic Inequality

This dissertation consists of three chapters in which I address central research questions about the role of parental investments and family structure on human capital development, the impact of education on labour-market outcomes and learning outcomes, and the origins and mechanisms of inter-generational mobility in developing countries. The first chapter examines how parental monetary investment affects the joint evolution of child health, cognitive skills and socio-emotional skills. I estimate a dynamic factor model, characterizing the skill formation process over the childhood, from birth to 12 years of age, using the sample of Vietnamese children from the Young Lives study. In the second chapter, I estimate marginal returns to upper secondary school on the labour market and on learning outcomes in Indonesia. Using the longitudinal data from the Indonesian Family Life Survey 1997-2015, I document a substantial degree of heterogeneity in the returns to upper secondary school on the labour market. The third chapter investigates the origins and mechanisms of birth order effects on cognitive skills, socio-emotional skills and health in Vietnam. Using a sample of children from the Young Lives study we find strong evidence of negative birth order effects on parental investments and child capabilities, emerging very early in life

Topological Lifshitz phase transition in effective model of QCD with chiral symmetry non-restoration

    Get PDF
The topological Lifshitz phase transition is studied systematically within an effective model of QCD, in which the chiral symmetry, broken at zero temperature, is not restored at high temperature and/or baryon chemical potential. It is found that during phase transition the quark system undergoes a first-order transition from low density fully-gapped state to high density state with Fermi sphere which is protected by momentum-space topology. The Lifshitz phase diagram in the plane of temperature and baryon chemical potential is established. The critical behaviors of various equations of state are determined.Comment: 8 pages, 10 figure

From there, children will develop a love and appreciation for Vietnamese folk songs.&nbsp

In this paper, the global exponential stability of a class of neural networks is investigated. The neural networks contain variable and unbounded delays. By constructing a suitable Lyapunov function and using the technique of matrix analysis, some new sufficient conditions on the global exponential stability are obtained.
