- A COMPUTATIONAL APPROACH TO THE FUNDAMENTAL THEOREM OF ASSET PRICING IN A SINGLE-PERIOD MARKET.
In this paper we provide a new approach to the Fundamental Theorem of As-set Pricing. The proofof this result is usually based on Projection (Separation) Theorems and is far more intuitive. Ourapproach follow the relation between the projection problem an equivalent least squares problem.More precisely, we will use and iterative procedure in order to obtain solutions of a bounded leastsquare problem. This solutions will give, under some conditions, either the state price vector orthe arbitrage opportunity of the problem under consideration.Asset Pricing; Arbitrage; Mathematical Finance
Viscosity near phase transitions
Probably the most enticing observation in theoretical physics during the last
decade was the discovery of the great amount of consequences obtained from the
AdS/CFT conjecture put forward by Maldacena. In this work we review how this
correspondence can be used to address hydrodynamic properties such as the
viscosity of some strongly interacting systems. We also employ the Boltzmann
equation for those systems closer to low-energy QCD, and argue that this kind
of transport coefficients can be related to phase transitions, in particular
the QGP/hadronic phase transition studied in heavy ion collisions.Comment: 9 pages, 1 figure. Contribution to the Gribov-80 Memorial Workshop.

Minimum of and the phase transition of the Linear Sigma Model in the large-N limit
We reexamine the possibility of employing the viscosity over entropy density
ratio as a diagnostic tool to identify a phase transition in hadron physics to
the strongly coupled quark-gluon plasma and other circumstances where direct
measurement of the order parameter or the free energy may be difficult.
It has been conjectured that the minimum of eta/s does indeed occur at the
phase transition. We now make a careful assessment in a controled theoretical
framework, the Linear Sigma Model at large-N, and indeed find that the minimum
of eta/s occurs near the second order phase transition of the model due to the
rapid variation of the order parameter (here the sigma vacuum expectation
value) at a temperature slightly smaller than the critical one.Comment: 22 pages, 19 figures, v2, some references and several figures added,

Foeniculum sanguineum Triano y A. Pujadas (Apiaceae) nueva especie del suroeste de la Región Mediterránea
Foeniculum sanguineum Triano & A. Pujadas, sp. nov., from the south western Mediterranean Region (Spain & Morocco) is described. Its characterization and a comparative study with the related species Foeniculum vulgare Mill., has been carried out through morphological, cytological, chemical and molecular analysis. F. sanguineum is distinguished primarily for its red petals, pink pollen in fresh, and red stylopod. It is a diploid species (2n= 22). A high proportion of limonene and piperitenone oxide (absent in F. vulgare) has been found in the essential oil composition of the dry fruits of F. sanguineum and a high amount (about 50 %) of α-phellandrene in its roots and stems. Phylogenetic analyses were performed using the internal transcribed spacer sequences of nuclear ribosomal DNA (ITS) and the chloroplast rbcL gene sequences. ITS analysis supports the existence of the new species, while revealing sequence divergence both at the intraspecific and at the interspecific levels. A Single-nucleotide-polymorphism (SNP) sequence divergence found in the slow evolving chloroplast gene provided additional support for the novel species characterization, for which the name Foeniculum sanguineum is proposed
School Dropout by Gender in the European Union: Evidence from Spain
The aim of this paper is double, to describe
the scope of high school dropout in Spain in comparative
terms with Europe and to provide empirical evidence
about its main determinants from a gender perspective.
Using data from the Eurostat LFS for
1996-2009, the study makes evident a singularity for
Spain: the important gender disparity at school. The
multivariate statistical analysis shows that for females
the academic performance, father’s nationality and
mother’s educational level are the most determining
factors in their education demand decisions. For males,
father’s occupation and labour market conditions
are the most significant influences

Reproductive Structures and Early Life History of the Gulf Toadfish, Opsanus beta, in the Tecolutla Estuary, Veracruz, Mexico
Although the Gulf toadfish, Opsanus beta, is an abundant member of the nearshore Gulf of Mexico ichthyofaunal assemblage, little information exists regarding the ecology of the species, especially for southern Gulf of Mexico populations. We added to the existing knowledge of this species by describing the reproductive structures and examining the early life history of this species in the Tecolutla estuary, Mexico. Macro- and microscopic examination of 7 males showed spermatogenesis to be similar to other teleost species except for the occurrence of biflagellate spermatozoa. Histological examination of the male accessory gland showed 3 tissue layers, but their functions are still undetermined. We found asynchronous development of oocytes in the ovaries of 16 females, which may indicate multiple spawning over the long spawning season noted in this study. Batch fecundity estimates among females ranged from 79 to 518 mature ova with a mean ovum diameter of 3.5 mm. The above-mentioned factors along with large size at hatching, attached larval forms, and paternal care may account, in part, for the abundance of this species in highly dynamic systems
