Theory of Weak Hypernuclear Decay
The weak nonmesonic decay of Lambda-hypernuclei is studied in the context of

The progress of magnetization reversal of weakly packed ferromagnetic
Ni80Fe20 nanowire arrays of different diameters (40, 50, 70 and 100 nm)
electrodeposited in polycarbonate membranes was studied by magnetic force
microscopy (MFM). For such a low packing density of nanomagnets, the dipolar
interactions between neighbouring wires can be neglected. The intrinsic
switching field distribution has been extracted from in situ MFM images and its
width was found to be considerably smaller than for densely packed nanowire

Atmospheric dynamics of extreme discharge events from 1979 to 2016 in the southern Central Andes
During the South-American Monsoon season, deep convective systems occur at the eastern flank of the Central Andes leading to heavy rainfall and flooding. We investigate the large- and meso-scale atmospheric dynamics associated with extreme discharge events (> 99.9th percentile) observed in two major river catchments meridionally stretching from humid to semi-arid conditions in the southern Central Andes. Based on daily gauge time series and ERA-Interim reanalysis, we made the following three key observations: (1) for the period 1940–2016 daily discharge exhibits more pronounced variability in the southern, semi-arid than in the northern, humid catchments. This is due to a smaller ratio of discharge magnitudes between intermediate (0.2 year return period) and rare events (20 year return period) in the semi-arid compared to the humid areas; (2) The climatological composites of the 40 largest discharge events showed characteristic atmospheric features of cold surges based on 5-day time-lagged sequences of geopotential height at different levels in the troposphere; (3) A subjective classification revealed that 80% of the 40 largest discharge events are mainly associated with the north-northeastward migration of frontal systems and 2/3 of these are cold fronts, i.e. cold surges. This work highlights the importance of cold surges and their related atmospheric processes for the generation of heavy rainfall events and floods in the southern Central Andes.Fil: Castino, F.. Magnetic force microscopy investigation of arrays of nickel nanowires and nanotubes
The magnetic properties of arrays of nanowires (NWs) and nanotubes (NTs), 150
nm in diameter, electrodeposited inside nanoporous polycarbonate membranes are
investigated. The comparison of the nanoscopic magnetic force microscopy (MFM)
imaging and the macroscopic behavior as measured by alternating gradient force
magnetometry (AGFM) is made. It is shown that MFM is a complementary technique
that provides an understanding of the magnetization reversal characteristics at
the microscopic scale of individual nanostructures. The local hysteresis loops
have been extracted by MFM measurements. The influence of the shape of such
elongated nanostructures on the dipolar coupling and consequently on the
squareness of the hysteresis curves is demonstrated. It is shown that the
nanowires exhibit stronger magnetic interactions than nanotubes. The
non-uniformity of the magnetization states is also revealed by combining the
MFM and AGFM measurements.Comment: 7 pages, 5 figure
Stallion sperm quality after combined ejaculate fractionation and colloidal centrifugation
This study investigated the possible additive benefit of ejaculate fractionation and colloidal centrifugation on stallion sperm quality. Using an open-end artificial vagina, the sperm-rich fraction (FRAC-1) was separated from the rest of the ejaculate (FRAC-2) and a third sperm sample representing the combined ejaculate was reconstituted post-ejaculation (RAW). Each semen sample was processed for colloidal centrifugation. The percentage of abnormal spermatozoa was 17.8 ± 7.0% in RAW and 14.6 ± 9.5% in FRAC-1 but decreased to 11.4 ± 4.7% and 9.6 ± 6.9% respectively, after colloidal centrifugation. A sperm DNA fragmentation index of 10.9 ± 5.1% was observed in RAW and 7.5 ± 2.4% in FRAC-1 semen collected with the AV but this decreased to 7.8 ± 2.8% and 5.2 ± 2.3% after colloidal centrifugation. The rate of increase in sperm DNA fragmentation during the first 6 h of incubation at 37 ºC was 1.8 ± 0.9% per hour in RAW semen and 2.0 ± 2.0% per hour in FRAC-1 but this significantly decreased to 1.3 ± 1.4% and 0.9 ± 0.8% respectively after colloidal centrifugation. Circularly polarised broadband planar lightweight reflectarray with eligible pattern for satellite communications in Ku-Band
This study presents a lightweight planar patch-array reflectarray at Ku-band for satellite communications. The reflectarray is composed of two separate planar structures: the radiating interface formed by a planar multi-layered broadband patch array, and a phase shifting device formed by 3 dB/90° couplers. The radiating element is a multi-layered patch structure, designed to provide circular polarisation (CP). Each array cell phase is controlled by open-ended shifting lines of variable length connected to the 3 dB/90° couplers. The use of this kind of couplers maintains the same CP received/transmitted: the design imposes that if a right-hand CP (RHCP) [or left-hand CP (LHCP)] is received coming from the feeder, the same RHCP (or LHCP) configuration is re-radiated by the reflectarray. Additionally, the feeding horn can be moved in the x or y axes, so that the feeder angular position let re-define the radiation pattern and its pointing direction. Finally, measurements of a lightweight portable planar reflectarray prototype are provided and very good agreement is observed when compared with theoretical result
Broadband electronically tunable reflectionbased phase shifter for active-steering microwave reflectarray systems in Ku-band
This document provides the design of an electronically reconfigurable microwave phase shifter for reflectarray systems. The phase shifter is based on a hybrid coupler with reflective circuits in three ports. Each reflective circuit introduces a phase variation that can be modified due to the variable capacity value of a varactor inserted in it. The phase shifting process includes three different stages of phase shifting for the incoming signal in its way through the phase shifter: the signal is conducted through the device towards the reflective circuits in four different ways. The input port of the device is also the output one, providing the desired reflective phase shifting effect. This device is of great interest in reflectarray applications in order to provide more than 360° of controllable phase shifting at each array element. Electronically reconfigurable reflective phase shifter for circularly polarized reflectarray systems
This letter presents the design of a two-port electronically reconfigurable phase shifter for circularly polarized reflectarray systems at microwave frequencies. The phase shifter is based on 3 dB/90? couplers combined with reflective circuits that introduce sequentially the phase variation. Each reflective circuit, formed by printed elements (L) and tunable varactors, produces the phase variation due to the variable capacity value of the varactor. The phase shifting process includes three different stages of phase shifting for the signal in its way from the input port towards the output port through the phase shifter. Both ports are interchangeable, acting either as input or output ports. This fulfils the reflection requirements of circularly polarized reflectarrays, being especially suitable for this purpose. The complete design, together with its circuital behavior and performance results, are depicted in this document
Glide-Symmetric Pin Phase Shifter implemented in Gap-Waveguide Technology
This paper presents a compact and low-loss waveguide phase shifter based on a pin lattice in glide- symmetric configuration. There is a significant increase in provided phase shift when using a glide-symmetric pin distribution instead of a non-glide-symmetric configuration. A prototype has been manufactured to validate the simulated results of both phase shifters: non-glide-symmetric and glide- symmetric designs. Gap-waveguide technology has been implemented for low-cost manufacturing. The measurement results demonstrate the higher performance and compactness of the glide-symmetric phase shifter. For the same phase shifter length, the glide-symmetric design provides around 80 degrees more of phase shifting compared to the non-glide-symmetric phase shifter. Both phase shifters have a good impedance matching between 46 and 60 GHz (better than -10 dB) and an insertion loss lower than 1 dB.Universidad de Málaga. Se presenta un caso de quiste óseo aneurismático de localización superficial
en la cara externa del húmero. El tumor fue tratado mediante la resección en bloque
y relleno con hueso liofilizado. La evolución ha sido satisfactoria no habiéndose presentado
recurrencia del tumor y considerándose el enfermo completamente curado a los tres
años de realizado el tratamiento. Se establece una relación próxima en el tiempo con un
episodio traumático, que se considera desencadenante del desarrollo tumoral y de la sintomatología.A case of aneurysmal bone cyst located at the lateral periosteal surface of the humeral diaphysis is presented. The patient was treated by in-bloc tumor resection and grafting of liophylized bone. The outcome has been satisfactory without tumor recurrence. Three years after surgery the patients remains free from disease. A relationship between previous trauma and the development of tumor could be found
