Meriç River Delta is located in the Thrace Region of Turkey, and it is one of the most important wetlands worldwide. Gala and Sığırcı Lakes, which are known as significant lakes in Turkey in terms of especial biodiversity, are located in the Meriç River Delta and they are the main lentic factors of the system. The aim of this study was to evaluate the essential and toxic element bioaccumulation levels in fishes of Gala and Sığırcı Lakes from a statistical perspective by investigating a total of 25 macro- and micro-element bioaccumulations. One-Way ANOVA Test (OWAT) was applied to detected data in order to determine the statistical differences of element bioaccumulations among the fish species. Cluster analysis (CA) was also applied to detected data in order to classify the investigated elements in terms of bioaccumulation levels in fish tissues. According to the results of OWAT, although statistical differences were not recorded among the fish species in terms of essential element levels, significant statistical differences were recorded in terms of toxic element levels (P<0.05). According to the results of CA, 5 statistically significant clusters were formed, which were named as “Most intense elements”, “Second most intense elements”, “Moderate intense elements”, “Second rarest elements”, and “Rarest elements”. It was also found that toxic element bioaccumulation rates in fishes of Gala Lake were significantly higher than in fishes of Sığırcı Lake (P<0.05)

Ergene River Basin is the most significant aquatic habitat for Thrace Region and also one of the most polluted watersheds in Turkey. The objectives of this study were to determine some essential-toxic element accumulations in drinking water of settlement areas located in Ergene River Basin and evaluated the water quality in terms of local public health. Drinking water samples were collected from 30 stations in dry (summer) season of 2018. Cluster Analysis (CA) was used to classify the investigated elements and villages and Weighted Arithmetic Water Quality Index (WAWQI) was used to assess the water quality. According to results of elemental CA, 11 statistically significant clusters were formed in terms of elemental densities and according to results of locational CA, 3 statistically significant clusters were formed in terms of drinking water qualities. According to results of WAWQI, the risk sequence of the elements in drinking water of the system as follows: Se > As > Mo > B > Ba > Cr > Pb > Mn > Ni > Cd > Cu. Although Ergene River Basin is known as a very contaminated freshwater ecosystem, it was determined that the groundwater of the basin has I. - II class water quality, in general. Selenium accumulations detected in almost all the investigated villages exceeded the drinking water limit of 10 ppb. Arsenic, boron and molybdenum accumulations detected in some villages exceeded the drinking water standards. Although concentrations of some elements in some locations were exceed the limit values and recorded as quite high levels, the majority of investigated element concentrations in drinking water of the basin have been found to be in the range of human consumption standards

Compound sentences with ki has found way to Turkish by foreign languages during Uygur and Ancient Anatolian Turkish periods. Although compound sentences with ki are used in Iraqi Turkman Turkish, these are much using without ki, in the same way as it was with ki.</p

Task Learning for Intention Detection using Deep Neural Networks and Robotic Arm Data in Glovebox

Tele-manipulation systems are becoming more reliant on complex local (master) devices with sophisticated control methods; hence, the cognitive load on the operator during labour intensive tasks is increasing. The operator intention detection based on task learning can lead to better robot task performance with less human effort in teleoperation for a glovebox environment (see Fig. 1). Deep Convolutional Neural Networks are proposed to learn and predict the operator intention using robotic arm and its controller spatiotemporal data. Our preliminary experimental study on glovebox tasks for nuclear applications, particularly radiation survey and object grasping, provided promising results and encouraged us for a deeper research.UK Atomic Energy Authority, Remote Applications in Challenging Environments, Robotics and AI in Nuclear (RAIN Hub

A novel approach to micro-telemanipulation with soft slave robots: integrated design of a non-overshooting series elastic actuator

Micro mechanical devices are becoming ubiquitous as they find increas- ing uses in applications such as micro-fabrication, micro-surgery and micro- probing. Use of micro-electromechanical systems not only offer compactness and precision, but also increases the efficiency of processes. Whenever me- chanical devices are used to interact with the environment, accurate control of the forces arising at the interaction surfaces arise as an important chal- lenge. In this work, we propose using a series elastic actuation (SEA) for micro- manipulation. Since an SEA is an integrated mechatronic device, the me- chanical design and controller synthesis are handled in parallel to achieve the best overall performance. The mechanical design of the μSEA is handled in two steps: type selection and dimensional synthesis. In the type selection step, a compliant, half pantograph mechanism is chosen as the underlying kinematic structure of the coupling element. For optimal dimensioning, the bandwidth of the system, the disturbance response and the force resolution are considered to achieve good control performance with high reliability. These objectives are achieved by optimizing the manipulability and the stiffness of the mechanism along with a robustness constraint. In parallel with the mechanical design, a force controller is synthesized. The controller has a cascaded structure: an inner loop for position control and an outer loop for force control. Since excess force application can be detrimental during manipulation of fragile objects; the position controller of the inner loop is designed to be a non-overshooting controller which guar- antees the force response of the system always stay lower than the reference value. This self-standing μSEA system is embedded into a 3-channel scaled tele- operation architecture so that an operator can perform micro-telemanipulation. Constant scaling between the master and the slave is implemented and the teleoperator controllers preserve the non-overshooting nature of the μSEA. Finally, the designed μSEA based micro-telemanipulation system is im- plemented and characterized

Some Technological and Functional Properties of Lactic Acid Bacteria Isolated from Hardaliye

Hardaliye is a lactic acid fermented beverage produced from red grape or grape juice with addition of crushed mustard seeds and benzoic acid and it is widely produced and consumed in the Thrace region of Turkey. The aim of this study was to determine the dominant lactic acid bacteria (LAB) species found in hardaliye and to investigate their technological properties related to probiotic action and potential use as a starter culture for production of hardaliye. For this aim; LAB were isolated from 28 hardaliye samples (23 hardaliye samples that were obtained from different regions of Kirklareli, Turkey and 5 hardaliye samples were produced by using traditional methods in laboratory conditions). After carrying out conventional and molecular biological methods, it was found that all LAB species isolated belonged to genus Lactobacillus. The dominant species in the microbiota was found to be Lactobacillus plantarum while around 98% of the isolates were similar to each other. Therefore, it was well understood that a small diversity of LAB strains played role during the fermentation process. The results of this study revealed that the isolates had the potential to be used as starter cultures in hardaliye production due to their antimicrobial effects and acid production capabilities.TUBITAKTurkiye Bilimsel ve Teknolojik Arastirma Kurumu (TUBITAK) [110O018]The authors gratefully acknowledged the TUBITAK (Project number: 110O018) for providing funding for this work
