Brand familiarity is one of the most important steps on the way to branding. After the knowing process has been completed and the familiarity of the product and service increase, it means that product or service become a brand. Therefore, the higher familiarity of a brand has than its competitors means that more sales in proportion. Such an environment that the competition dominates in our day, not only institutions but also the destinations of the countries are in the race with each others. In order to become a center of attraction of these destinations with marketing home and abroad, the brand power has an important role on the way to increase brand familiarity. By featuring the touristic product identities of the destinations in a country and provide these destinations to be well-known, main condition is to host more and more visitors. In this study, it was tried to learn that the familiarness of the Ephesus ancient site where is the one of the most important touristic destinations in Turkey by the foreign visitors. It was searched that the knowledge of the foreign visitors coming to visit Ephesus would show a differentiate in significantly according to their demographic features like gender, age, education situation, montly income and nationality or not and at the end of the research it is determined that the knowledge had already been existed differentiated according to education situation and the nationality belonged to

The inhibition of Escherichia coli ATCC 25922 (E. coli), Staphylococcus aureus ATCC6538 (S. aureus), Salmonella Enteritidis ATCC 13076 (S. Enteritidis), and Listeria monocytogenes DSM12464 (L. monocytogenes) is one of the main aims of the food industry. This study was the first in which the use of ultrasound and microwave power were applied to optimize the values of the bioactive components, amino acids, and mineral compositions of tangerine juice and to inhibit Escherichia coli, Staphylococcus aureus, Salmonella Enteritidis, and Listeria monocytogenes. The response surface methodology (RSM) was used to describe the inactivation kinetics, and the effects of ultrasound treatment time (X-1: 12-20 min), ultrasound amplitude (X-2:60-100%), microwave treatment time (X-3: 30-40 s), and microwave power (X-4:200-700 W). The optimum parameters applied to a 5-log reduction in E. coli were determined as ultrasound (12 min, 60%) and microwave (34 s, 700 W). The optimum condition ultrasound-microwave treatment was highly effective in tangerine juice, achieving up to 5.27, 5.12, and 7.19 log reductions for S. aureus, S. Enteritidis, and L. monocytogenes, respectively. Ultrasound-microwave treatment increased the total phenolic compounds and total amino acids. While Cu, K, Mg, and Na contents were increased, Fe and Ca contents were lower in the UM-TJ (ultrasound-microwave-treated tangerine juice) sample. In this case, significant differences were detected in the color values of ultrasound-microwave-treated tangerine juice (UM-TJ) (p < 0.05). The results of this study showed that ultrasound-microwave treatment is a potential alternative processing and preservation technique for tangerine juice, resulting in no significant quality depreciation

Classification of Turkish extra virgin olive oils by a SAW detector electronic nose

    Get PDF
An electronic nose (e-nose), in combination with chemometrics, has been used to classify the cultivar, harvest year, and geographical origin of economically important Turkish extra virgin olive oils. The aroma fingerprints of the eight different olive oil samples [Memecik (M), Erkence (E), Gemlik (G), Ayvalik (A), Domat (D), Nizip (N), Gemlik-Edremit (GE), Ayvalik-Edremit (AE)] were obtained using an e-nose consisting a surface acoustic wave detector. Data were analyzed by principal component analysis (PCA) and discriminant function analysis (DFA). Classification of cultivars using PCA revealed that A class model was correctly discriminated from N in two harvest years. The DFA classified 100 and 97% of the samples correctly according to the cultivar in the 1st and 2nd harvest years, respectively. Successful separation among the harvest years and geographical origins were obtained. Sensory analyses were performed for determining the differences in the geographical origin of the olive oils and the preferences of the panelists. The panelists could not detect the differences among olive oils from two different regions. The cultivar, harvest year, and geographical origin of extra virgin olive oils could be discriminated successfully by the e-nose.Scientific and Technical Research Council of Turkey (104O333

    Fractional order control in haptics

Fractional order (FO) calculus—a generalization of the traditional calculus to arbitrary order differointegration-is an effective mathematical tool that broadens the modeling boundaries of the familiar integer order calculus. The effectiveness of this remarkable mathematical tool has been observed in many practical applications. For instance, FO models enable faithful representation of viscoelastic materials that exhibit frequency dependent stiffness and damping characteristics within a single mechanical element. In this dissertation, we propose and analyze the use of FO controllers in haptic systems and provide a systematic analysis of this new control method in the light of the fundamental trade-off between the stability robustness and the transparency performance. FO controllers provide a promising generalization that allows one to better shape the frequency response of a system to achieve more favorable robustness and performance characteristics. In particular, the use of FO calculus in systems and control applications provides the user with an extra design variable, the order of differointegration, which can be tuned to improve the desired behavior of the overall system. We introduce a generalized FO nondimensionalized sampled-data model for the haptic system and study its frequency dependent behaviour. Then, we analyze the stability of this system with and without a human operator in the loop. Moreover, we experimentally verify the stability analysis and demonstrate that the experiments capture the essence of the stability behaviour between different differentiation orders. The passivity analysis is conducted for two cases: the first approach takes the environment model into account and ensures the passivity of the haptic system together with the virtual environment, while the second approach assumes the presence of a passive environment model in the control loop and introduces a controller to the closed-loop system that acts like a buffer between the haptic display and the virtual environment. The second approach is more suitable for complex environments as it investigates the passivity properties of the two-port haptic system together with a virtual coupler. After characterizing the stability boundaries for the FO haptic system, we analyse the performance of the system by studying the transparency performance of the haptic rendering with such controllers. In particular, we employ effective impedance analysis to decompose the closed-loop impedance of a haptic system into its parts and study the contribution of FO elements on the stiffness and damping rendering characteristics of the system. Finally, we apply the theoretical results to a novel haptic rendering scenario: haptic rendering of viscoelastic materials. A fractional order mathematical model for the human prostate tissue with history depended stress and deflection behavior, is chosen as the viscoelastic physical system to be rendered. The stress relaxation of the haptic rendering is verified against the experimental data, indicating a high fidelity rendering
