Measurement of the Bottom contribution to non-photonic electron production in p+pp+p collisions at s\sqrt{s} =200 GeV

The contribution of BB meson decays to non-photonic electrons, which are mainly produced by the semi-leptonic decays of heavy flavor mesons, in p+pp+p collisions at s=\sqrt{s} = 200 GeV has been measured using azimuthal correlations between non-photonic electrons and hadrons. The extracted BB decay contribution is approximately 50% at a transverse momentum of pT5p_{T} \geq 5 GeV/cc. These measurements constrain the nuclear modification factor for electrons from BB and DD meson decays. The result indicates that BB meson production in heavy ion collisions is also suppressed at high pTp_{T}.Comment: 6 pages, 4 figures, accepted by PR

Event-plane-dependent Dihadron Correlations With Harmonic Vn Subtraction In Au + Au Collisions At S Nn =200 Gev

    Get PDF
STAR measurements of dihadron azimuthal correlations (Δφ) are reported in midcentral (20-60%) Au+Au collisions at sNN=200 GeV as a function of the trigger particle's azimuthal angle relative to the event plane, φs=|φt-ψEP|. The elliptic (v2), triangular (v3), and quadratic (v4) flow harmonic backgrounds are subtracted using the zero yield at minimum (ZYAM) method. The results are compared to minimum-bias d+Au collisions. It is found that a finite near-side (|Δφ|π/2) correlation shows a modification from d+Au data, varying with φs. The modification may be a consequence of path-length-dependent jet quenching and may lead to a better understanding of high-density QCD. © 2014 American Physical Society.894DOE; U.S. Department of EnergyArsene, I., (2005) Nucl. Statistically Based Development of Corporate Innovation Metrics System

    No full text
Performance assessment of any company is a complex process that includes a comprehensive analysis of its market position, opportunities and threats from the external environment, and weaknesses and strengths within the organization. To make a competent management decision related to the innovative activity of an enterprise, company managers must have appropriate information. There are no universal metrics to measure innovation. The aim of this paper is the formation and adaption of statistical market indicators to assess innovation efficiency. These indicators are benchmarks that help identify key factors and aspects of innovation. The evidence is from consumer goods industry. The proposed metric is applied in IMS Company. Statistics indicate a decline in innovation activity in the industry. That indicates the need for the development of programs to support innovative entrepreneurship. © 2021, The Editor(s) (if applicable) and The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Switzerland AG

Rationale. Acne vulgaris is a widespread chronic disease with no age, gender, or race restrictions. It does not pose a direct threat to the patient's life, but is reflected in his psycho-emotional status, which requires appropriate medical intervention. Purpose of the study. To study the psychoemotional status of patients aged 2224 years with moderate and severe acne and its changes during monotherapy with isotretinoin (Sotret). Methods. In an open, non-randomized study lasting 12 months, 310 students of the Samara State Medical University were included (52% healthy, 33% with mild acne, 13% with a moderate degree, 2% with a severe degree). All patients in the study before treatment and after 3, 6, 12 months were assessed the severity of the course using the dermatological index of acne (DIA); quality of life assessment using the Cardiff Acne Disability Index (CADI scale); assessment of the psychological and social impact of acne using the APSEA questionnaire. All patients received monotherapy using the drug Erase. The median and interquartile distance Me (Q3-Q1) were indicated as descriptive statistics. The Wilcoxon signed rank test was used to compare related groups. The comparison was carried out with 95% confidence. Results. An analysis of the assessment of the psychological and social status of patients with moderate and severe acne before treatment, 3, 6, 12 months after the start of treatment with isotretinoin (Erase) is presented. The study included 36 people (20 women and 16 men) aged 22 to 24 years with a disease duration from 1 to 10 years. The results of psychological testing at various intervals gave comparable data: all patients had a pronounced persistent level of social maladjustment. An important indicator of the effectiveness of acne therapy with isotretinoin is the frequency of cases of the formation of a persistent clinical effect from treatment, which is clearly expressed in the restoration of the psycho-emotional background of patients, improving the quality of life of patients. Conclusion. An important indicator of the effectiveness of acne therapy with Erase is the frequency of cases of the formation of a stable clinical effect of treatment, which is clearly expressed in the restoration of the psycho-emotional background of patients, improving the quality of life of patients. The treatment allowed us to change the psychoemotional background of our patients for the better, which increased their motivation to study, communication, and the desire for self-development.

Analogs of the Golgi complex in microsporidia: Structure and avesicular mechanisms of function

    No full text
Microsporidia are obligatory intracellular parasites, most species of which live in the host cell cytosol. They synthesize and then transport secretory proteins from the endoplasmic reticulum to the plasma membrane for formation of the spore wall and the polar tube for cell invasion. However, microsporidia do not have a typical Golgi complex. Here, using quick-freezing cryosubstitution and chemical fixation, we demonstrate that the Golgi analogs of the microsporidia Paranosema (Antonospora) grylli and Paranosema locustae appear as 300-nm networks of thin (25- to 40-nm diameter), branching or varicose tubules that display histochemical features of a Golgi, but that do not have vesicles. Vesicles are not formed even if membrane fusion is inhibited. These tubular networks are connected to the endoplasmic reticulum, the plasma membrane and the forming polar tube, and are positive for Sec13, gammaCOP and analogs of giantin and GM130. The spore-wall and polar-tube proteins are transported from the endoplasmic reticulum to the target membranes through these tubular networks, within which they undergo concentration and glycosylation. We suggest that the intracellular transport of secreted proteins in microsporidia occurs by a progression mechanism that does not involve the participation of vesicles generated by coat proteins I and II
