    Global Existence of Weak Solutions to the Compressible Primitive Equations of Atmospheric Dynamics with Degenerate Viscosities

    We show the existence of global weak solutions to the three-dimensional compressible primitive equations of atmospheric dynamics with degenerate viscosities. In analogy with the case of the compressible Navier-Stokes equations, the weak solutions satisfy the basic energy inequality, the Bresh-Desjardins entropy inequality and the Mellet-Vasseur estimate. These estimates play an important role in establishing the compactness of the vertical velocity of the approximating solutions, and therefore are essential to recover the vertical velocity in the weak solutions

    In the work, we consider the zero Mach number limit of compressible primitive equations in the domain R2Ă—2T\mathbb{R}^2 \times 2\mathbb{T} or T2Ă—2T\mathbb{T}^2 \times 2\mathbb{T}. We identify the limit equations to be the primitive equations with the incompressible condition. The convergence behaviors are studied in both R2Ă—2T\mathbb{R}^2 \times 2\mathbb{T} and T2Ă—2T\mathbb{T}^2 \times 2\mathbb{T}, respectively.     The Relationship Between Vision and Organizational Readiness for Change: The Mediating Effects of Empowerment and Trust in the Leader

    Purpose – The purpose of this paper is to investigate the relationship between vision and readiness for organizational change directly and through the mediating effects of empowerment and trust. Design/methodology/approach – Data were collected from a sample of 409 managerial and non-managerial personnel from four business organizations. Structural equation modeling (SEM) was used to test direct and mediating effects. Findings – Analyses provided strong support for the direct effects of vision and organizational readiness for change and the effects of vision on readiness for change were mediated by empowerment and trust in the leader. Research limitations/implications – Vision is significantly associated with readiness for organizational change. However, both trust in leadership and sense of empowerment strengthen the relationship between the two variables. Practical Implications – A compelling vision can improve employees’ readiness for change by empowering them and by developing trust in the leader. Originality/value –To the authors’ knowledge, this is the first study to examine the mediating effects of trust and empowerment on the relationship between vision and organizational readiness for change

    The Influence of Leader Legacy Beliefs on Intergenerational Decision-Making

    This grounded theory study aimed to explore the perceptions or thinking of legacy held by organizational leaders and how legacy thinking shaped their decisions and life experiences. Using the theory of planned behavior, the authors analyzed 52 semi-structured interviews with leaders to build an understanding of their perspectives on legacy. A framework emerged from the data that can help understand the process through which life experiences shaped legacy thinking and the values of legacy thinking held by participants. Our findings offer insights that can help develop leaders focused on the organization’s sustainability past their tenure

The primitive equations with the incompressibility condition are identified as the limiting equations. The convergence with well-prepared initial data (i.e., initial data without acoustic oscillations) is rigorously justified, and the convergence rate is shown to be of order O(ε) \mathcal O(\varepsilon) , as ε→0+ \varepsilon \rightarrow 0^+ , where ε \varepsilon represents the Mach number. As a byproduct, we construct a class of global solutions to the compressible primitive equations, which are close to the incompressible flows

    Japanese Nursing Staff’s Knowledge and Attitude toward Bereavement Care for Couples with Miscarriage/Stillbirth and Its Associated Factors

    Bereavement care is conducted to meet the emotional needs of grieving couples who are devastated by the experience of a miscarriage or stillbirth. From January to April 2022, we distributed a questionnaire that assessed the knowledge and attitudes of Japanese nursing staff (nurses and midwives) in Japan’s Chugoku-Shikoku region toward bereavement care for couples with miscarriage/stillbirth. The 370 survey respondents’ answers revealed that the nursing staff’s knowledge regarding recurrent pregnancy loss and subsequent bereavement care was insufficient. About 41.1% and 64.1% of the respondents had received school and on-the-job education in bereavement care, respectively, and 79.2% expressed willingness to provide such care. Our analyses revealed that the following factors were associated with the nursing staff’s knowledge level: parent status, age, reproductive history, midwifery license, work experience and environment, and on-the-job education. The following were correlated with the staff’s willingness to provide bereavement care: work environment, midwifery license, bereavement care knowledge, and on-the-job education. Together our findings indicate that education plays a significant role in equipping caregivers to provide effective bereavement care for couples who have experienced a miscarriage or stillbirth
