Optical and EPR spectroscopy of Er3+ in lithium yttrium borate, Li6Y(BO3)3:Er single crystals
The energy levels of Er3+ ions have been determined in lithium yttrium borate (Li6Y(BO3)3) single crystals
in a wide spectral range between 6000 and 40000 cm-1 together with an analysis of the ground state,
using optical and EPR spectroscopy. The crystal field splittings of the 4I15/2 ground state and those of
nearly all excited states up to the 4D7/2 manifold have been obtained at low temperature from luminescence (T = 5 K) and absorption (T = 9 K) measurements, respectively. The numbers of experimentally observed Stark sublevels agree well with those expected theoretically for Er3+ ions occupying a single low symmetry (C1) site. A full set of g- and 167Er hyperfine tensor parameters are presented for the
ground state characterized by EPR; the measured Orbach-type spin-relaxation rates viz. the involved
activation energies correspond to the optically derived lowest excited sublevels
Characterisation of Channel Waveguides Fabricated in an Er3+-Doped Tellurite Glass Using Two Ion Beam Techniques
Two methods were proposed and implemented for the fabrication of channel waveguides in an Er-doped Tellurite glass. In the first method, channel waveguides were fabricated by implanting 1.5 MeV and 3.5 MeV energy N+ ions through a special silicon mask to the glass sample at various fluences. Those waveguides implanted at a fluence of 1.0 × 1016 ions/cm2 operated up to 980 nm, and showed green upconversion of the Erbium ions. In the second method, channel waveguides were directly written in the Er3+: TeO2W2O3 glass using an 11 MeV C4+ ion microbeam with fluences in the range of 1 · 1014–5 · 1016 ions/cm2. The waveguides worked in single mode regime up to the 1540 nm telecom wavelength. Propagation losses were reduced from the 14 dB/cm of the as-irradiated waveguides by stepwise thermal annealing to 1.5 dB/cm at λ = 1400 nm
A self-compartmentalizing hexamer serine protease from Pyrococcus Horikoshii: Substrate selection achieved through multimerization
Oligopeptidases impose a size limitation on their substrates, the mechanism of which has long been in debate. Here we present the structure of a hexameric serine protease, an oligopeptidase from Pyrococcus horikoshii (PhAAP), revealing a complex, self-compartmentalized inner space, where substrates may access the monomer active sites passing through a double-gated "check-in" system: first passing through a pore on the hexamer surface, then turning to enter through an even smaller opening at the monomers' domain-interface. This substrate screening strategy is unique within the family. We found that among oligopeptidases a member of catalytic apparatus is positioned near an amylogenic beta-edge, which needs to be protected to prevent aggregation and found different strategies applied to such end. We propose that self-assembly within the family results in characteristically different substrate selection mechanisms coupled to different multimerization states
A gazdasági összehasonlítások is hasonló eredményeket adtak.
Ennek ellenére is kijelenthető, hogy bár gazdasági értelemben mind a három projekt sikeressége megkérdőjelezhető, alapvető célkitűzéseiket teljesítették, hiszen mindhárom esetében a szociális felzárkóztatás megtörtént.
A diplomamunkában szereplő adatok többsége ezen, dokumentumok alapján lett felhasználva.
Saturation Spectroscopic Studies on Yb3+ and Er3+ Ions in Li6Y(BO3)3 Single Crystals
The results of a series of pump–probe spectral hole-burning experiments are presented on Yb3+- or Er3+-doped Li6Y(BO3)3 (LYB) single crystals in the temperature range of 2–14 K and 9–28 K, respectively. The spectral hole has a complex structure for Yb3+ with superposed narrow and broad bands, while a single absorption hole has been observed for Er3+. Population relaxation times (T1) at about 850 ± 60 μs and 1010 ± 50 μs and dipole relaxation times (T2) with values of 1100 ± 120 ns and 14.2 ± 0.3 ns have been obtained for the two components measured for the Yb3+:2F7/2—2F5/2 transition. T1 = 402 ± 8 μs and T2 = 11.9 ± 0.2 ns values have been found for the Er3+:4I15/2—4I11/2 excitation. The spectral diffusion rate at about 1 and 5 MHz/ms has been determined for the narrow and broad spectral line in Yb3+-doped crystal, respectively. The temperature dependence of the spectral hole halfwidth has also been investigated
