Long term sustainable product development at the packaging sector
This paper outlines the importance of sustainable product developments and their role in securing a sustainable future through current practices and procedures. It discusses the difficulties faced within organisations through the complexities and swamping of regulations when considering sustainability and the problems in policing such a system to ensure compliance. Focus is centred on the design stage, where large numbers of standards and interests must be factored in to create specifications that are highly compliant. Where there is a limited understanding of the complexities that are presented at this stage, less optimum specifications will be dispatched. This presents the need to think strategically with new systems and approaches which adapt to company behaviour, where decisions that are made at a design stage have impacts up and down the supply chain, changes that are made must be in line with company strategic objectives and provide influential returns on investment
The spectroscopically confirmed X-ray cluster at z=1.62 with a possible companion in the Subaru/XMM-Newton deep field
We report on a confirmed galaxy cluster at z=1.62. We discovered two
concentrations of galaxies at z~1.6 in the Subaru/XMM-Newton deep field based
on deep multi-band photometric data. We made a near-IR spectroscopic follow-up
observation of them and confirmed several massive galaxies at z=1.62. One of
the two is associated with an extended X-ray emission at 4.5 sigma on a scale
of 0'.5, which is typical of high-z clusters. The X-ray detection suggests that
it is a gravitationally bound system. The other one shows a hint of an X-ray
signal, but only at 1.5 sigma, and we obtained only one secure redshift at
z=1.62. We are not yet sure if this is a collapsed system. The possible twins
exhibit a clear red sequence at K<22 and seem to host relatively few number of
faint red galaxies. Massive red galaxies are likely old galaxies -- they have
colors consistent with the formation redshift of z_f=3 and a spectral fit of
the brightest confirmed member yields an age of 1.8_{-0.2}^{+0.1} Gyr with a
mass of 2.5_{-0.1}^{+0.2} x 10^11 M_solar. Our results show that it is feasible
to detect clusters at z>1.5 in X-rays and also to perform detailed analysis of
galaxies in them with the existing near-IR facilities on large telescopes.Comment: 5 figures, accepted for publication in ApJ Letters
MOLECULAR CLONING AND CHARACTERIZATION OF POTENTIAL VACCINE ANTIGENS F R O M Renibacterium salmoninarum
A number oi R.salmoninarum gene libraries were constructed in E.coli host-vector systems and
screened for the production of molecules which may provide material for the immunisation of
salmonid fish. One immunopositiye clone was isolated from a £coRI gene bank constructed in the
plasmid vector pUC18 and another clone, which possessed membrane-active properties, was
isolated from a M«dIII gene bank constructed in the plasmid vector pBR328. The immunopositive
clone was found to contain the major portion of gene msa encoding the major secretory antigen
of R. salmoninarum, known as P57.
The membrane-active clone possessed a broad activity against erythrocytes from a number of
mammalian species and rainbow trout, but not rabbits. No lecithinase, caseinase or gelatin
degrading activities were detected in active clones. The haemolytic product was not identifiable
on either SDS-PAGE gels or Western blots of cells taken from the active clone. However, minicell
analysis revealed that the membrane-active protein was about 65K, and the promoter region of the
gene encoding this protein was identified. Southern blotting showed that the gene was present in
seven strains of R.salmoninarum of differing virulence. The gene was sequenced and the sequence
analysed by computer. After comparison with the contents of the Protein Identification Resource
database, the gene was found to encode a protein which bears strong similarities with a family of
secreted zinc-dependent metalloendopeptidases and on this basis the gene was tentatively named
mpr and the product, MPR. Aspects of the predicted structure and possible function of MPR are
discussed.
In order to simplify the purification of material for further studies, gene fusions were constructed,
from msa, mpr and hly, a gene encoding another membrane-active product from R.salmoninarum,
in either pMAL or pAX5 vectors. The resultant fusion proteins were produced in a mainly soluble
form and purified by affinity chromatography. The fusion proteins were found to be immunogenic
in rats but only poorly inuuunogenic in rainbow trout. Epitopes of each of the fusion proteins were
identified on Western blots by serum derived from rainbow trout undergoing a clinical outbreak
of BKD and it is proposed that this provides circumstantial evidence that the native molecules are
of immunological importance to BKD and may be usefiil candidates for future immunisation
studies. Seven strains of R.salmoninarum were cultured in vitro under conditions of either ironrestriction
or iron-sufficiency. Epitopes of each of the fusion proteins were identified in
R.salmoninarum cell extracts and, in the case of msa, in the ECP. There is preliminary evidence
that the production of MPR and the processing of P57 may be regulated by the availability of iron
or other metals. No evidence for the production of siderophores by R.salmoninarum was found,
although culture supernatants did possess some ability to inhibit the binding of iron by transferrin.
A strong iron reducing activity was found to be associated with R.salmoninarum cells and the
production of reducing sugars accompanied iron-restricted culture conditions. Comparative
discussion of the pathogenicity of R.salmoninarum and of other Gram positive intracellular

The Sermons of the Appalachian Preaching Mission 1958-1977
The Appalachian Preaching Mission was an annual event that took place in Johnson City and other Tennessee cities from 1955 to 1986. A 1968 history of the Mission states that its purpose “was to allow the people of the area to hear great preachers that they would not ordinarily have the opportunity to hear.” Some of those preachers lived in or near Johnson City; others came from as far away as Arizona, California, Georgia, Pennsylvania, and Texas
IS accreditation in AACSB colleges via ABET
The development of ABET/CAC accreditation standards for IS programs presents an excellent opportunity for IS programs in AACSB-accredited business schools to improve their perceived quality and credibility. We argue that neglect by AACSB of IS/IT content has prompted this preemptive move on the part of ABET/CAC. A comparison of AACSB and ABET/CAC accreditation standards finds them to be generally quite compatible. Ironically, our survey of IS program leaders in AACSB-accredited business schools found familiarity with and interest in ABET/CAC standards to be just emerging. Although compliance with the ABET/CAC standards is evidently relatively high among most programs, understanding of potential benefits of accreditation is quite low. Also quite low is understanding of how colleagues might react to accreditation efforts
Information Systems Security Education: MIS Majors and Business Majors in AACSB College of Businesses
This a follow-on to previous IACIS 2018 & 2019 presentations that reported on a needs analysis of information systems security education at a 2,500-student college of business in an 11,000-student university in the Upper Midwest USA (UWEC). This year we bring in some results from a 1,700-student college of business in a 6,500- student university in the Southeast USA (GCSU). Preliminary Results are summarized in tables 1 and 2. In this study we compare MIS majors and Business Students and find little differences and conclude much more research is needed. Security of information systems is becoming more crucial by the day (Cerrudo, 2017), both conceptual knowledge and skill in tool use being necessary (Tarala, 2011). Countering this trend is the growing perception that young adults preparing to enter the work force are increasingly uninformed about basic endpoint security concepts and tools (Schaffhauser, 2015). This is counterintuitive given the widely assumed familiarity with information technology of contemporary young adults (Anderson & Rainie, 2012)
