Holomorphic motions, dimension and quasiconformal mappings

We describe the variation of the Minkowski, packing and Hausdorff dimensions of a set moving under a holomorphic motion. Our method provides a new, unified approach to various celebrated theorems about quasiconformal mappings, including the work of Astala on the distortion of dimension under quasiconformal mappings and the work of Smirnov on the dimension of quasicircles.Comment: 28 page

This paper describes how to add a stateless session bean. It is stateless because we are not concerned with remembering values of attributes between successive calls from the client. This paper also demonstrates that our session bean can be either remote (i.e., a bean with a remote interface) or it can be local (a bean with a local interface)

The IntelliJ IDEA is an Integrated Development Environment (IDE) used for Java development. It is known for its strong refactoring capabilities. It is a closed-source, proprietary product, which is used in both educational and industrial settings. IntelliJ functionality is extended by a set of open APIs that third-party developers can use to integrate their solutions by the development of plug-ins

This column builds upon our project by describing how to add a servlet for accessing the EJB methods implemented previously

Without an automated environment, deployment is often a painful process resulting in developers spending a great deal of time performing application deployment tasks. Most organizations strive for better management of this critical phase in the development cycle

The nuclear receptor LRH-1 critically regulates extra-adrenal glucocorticoid synthesis in the intestine

The nuclear receptor liver receptor homologue-1 (LRH-1, NR5A2) is a crucial transcriptional regulator of many metabolic pathways. In addition, LRH-1 is expressed in intestinal crypt cells where it regulates the epithelial cell renewal and contributes to tumorigenesis through the induction of cell cycle proteins. We have recently identified the intestinal epithelium as an important extra-adrenal source of immunoregulatory glucocorticoids. We show here that LRH-1 promotes the expression of the steroidogenic enzymes and the synthesis of corticosterone in murine intestinal epithelial cells in vitro. Interestingly, LRH-1 is also essential for intestinal glucocorticoid synthesis in vivo, as LRH-1 haplo-insufficiency strongly reduces the intestinal expression of steroidogenic enzymes and glucocorticoid synthesis upon immunological stress. These results demonstrate for the first time a novel role for LRH-1 in the regulation of intestinal glucocorticoid synthesis and propose LRH-1 as an important regulator of intestinal tissue integrity and immune homeostasis

Anatomy of a Dansgaard-Oeschger warming transition: High-resolution analysis of the North Greenland Ice Core Project ice core

Large and abrupt temperature oscillations during the last glacial period, known as Dansgaard‐Oeschger (DO) events, are clearly observed in the Greenland ice core record. Here we present a new high‐resolution chemical (2 mm) and stable isotope (20 mm) record from the North Greenland Ice Core Project (NGRIP) ice core at the onset of one of the most prominent DO events of the last glacial, DO‐8, observed ∼38,000 years ago. The unique, subannual‐resolution NGRIP record provides a true sequence of change during a DO warming with detailed annual layer counting of very high depth resolution geochemical measurements used to determine the exact duration of the transition. The continental ions, indicative of long‐range atmospheric loading and dustiness from East Asia, are the first to change, followed by the snow accumulation, the moisture source conditions, and finally the atmospheric temperature in Greenland. The sequence of events shows that atmospheric and oceanic source and circulation changes preceded the DO warming by several years
