The main data collection period was the 12-months from September 2017 to August 2018 inclusive, with the Post-Enumeration Surveys occurring from September to December 2018
Effects of Electron-Electron and Electron-Phonon Interactions in Weakly Disordered Conductors and Heterostuctures
We investigate quantum corrections to the conductivity due to the
interference of electron-electron (electron-phonon) scattering and elastic
electron scattering in weakly disordered conductors. The electron-electron
interaction results in a negative -correction in a 3D conductor. In
a quasi-two-dimensional conductor, ( is the thickness, is
the Fermi velocity), with 3D electron spectrum this correction is linear in
temperature and differs from that for 2D electrons (G. Zala et. al., Phys.
Rev.B {\bf 64}, 214204 (2001)) by a numerical factor. In a
quasi-one-dimensional conductor, temperature-dependent correction is
proportional to . The electron interaction via exchange of virtual phonons
also gives -correction. The contribution of thermal phonons interacting
with electrons via the screened deformation potential results in -term and
via unscreened deformation potential results in -term. The interference
contributions dominate over pure electron-phonon scattering in a wide

Engagement in a program promoting lifestyle modification is associated with better patient-reported outcomes for people with MS
There is increasing interest in patient-centered approaches to chronic disease management and prevention. For people with multiple sclerosis (PwMS), patient empowerment plays a role in improving a range of health-related outcomes. This study aimed to compare health-related quality of life (HRQOL), fatigue, and depression risk between people who have and have not attended a week-long physician-led residential educational retreat or accessed other self-help resources (a book and online content) that foster patient empowerment including the adoption of healthy lifestyle behaviors. PwMS were recruited to the study using online platforms and asked to complete a comprehensive online survey. Data from 2,233 respondents were analysed. Bivariate results indicated that PwMS who had attended a retreat (n = 247), read the associated book (n = 1,167) or regularly visited online sites promoting lifestyle modification (n = 795), had better HRQOL and lower rates of depression and fatigue than those who had not. The depression risk among retreat attendees (8.6 %) was around half that of the whole sample. Regression analysis showed that, controlling for age and gender, compared to the highest level of engagement, no engagement with the resources was associated with nearly threefold higher odds of clinically significant fatigue, tenfold higher odds of depression risk, and physical and mental HRQOL scores 19.5 and 15.6 points lower, respectively. These results are congruent with previously reported post-retreat improvements in HRQOL, and strongly support a role for patient engagement in resources promoting lifestyle modification. Physicians should encourage more active involvement of PwMS in their own health care
Cladoceran birth and death rates estimates
I. Birth and death rates of natural cladoceran populations cannot be measured directly. Estimates of these population parameters must be calculated using methods that make assumptions about the form of population growth. These methods generally assume that the population has a stable age distribution.
2. To assess the effect of variable age distributions, we tested six egg ratio methods for estimating birth and death rates with data from thirty-seven laboratory populations of Daphnia pulicaria. The populations were grown under constant conditions, but the initial age distributions and egg ratios of the populations varied. Actual death rates were virtually zero, so the difference between the estimated and actual death rates measured the error in both birth and death rate estimates.
3. The results demonstrate that unstable population structures may produce large errors in the birth and death rates estimated by any of these methods. Among the methods tested, Taylor and Slatkin's formula and Paloheimo's formula were most reliable for the experimental data.
4. Further analyses of three of the methods were made using computer simulations of growth of age-structured populations with initially unstable age distributions. These analyses show that the time interval between sampling strongly influences the reliability of birth and death rate estimates. At a sampling interval of 2.5 days (equal to the duration of the egg stage), Paloheimo's formula was most accurate. At longer intervals (7.5–10 days), Taylor and Slatkin's formula which includes information on population structure was most accurate
Possible Effects of Noncommutative Geometry on Weak CP Violation and Unitarity Triangles
Possible effects of noncommutative geometry on weak CP violation and
unitarity triangles are discussed by taking account of a simple version of the
momentum-dependent quark mixing matrix in the noncommutative standard model. In
particular, we calculate nine rephasing invariants of CP violation and
illustrate the noncommutative CP-violating effect in a couple of charged
D-meson decays. We also show how inner angles of the deformed unitarity
triangles are related to CP-violating asymmetries in some typical B_d and B_s
transitions into CP eigenstates. B-meson factories are expected to help probe

Accuracy and Stability of Computing High-Order Derivatives of Analytic Functions by Cauchy Integrals
High-order derivatives of analytic functions are expressible as Cauchy
integrals over circular contours, which can very effectively be approximated,
e.g., by trapezoidal sums. Whereas analytically each radius r up to the radius
of convergence is equal, numerical stability strongly depends on r. We give a
comprehensive study of this effect; in particular we show that there is a
unique radius that minimizes the loss of accuracy caused by round-off errors.
For large classes of functions, though not for all, this radius actually gives
about full accuracy; a remarkable fact that we explain by the theory of Hardy
spaces, by the Wiman-Valiron and Levin-Pfluger theory of entire functions, and
by the saddle-point method of asymptotic analysis. Many examples and

Collision times in pi-pi and pi-K scattering and spectroscopy of meson resonances
Using the concept of collision time (time delay) introduced by Eisenbud and
Wigner and its connection to on-shell intermediate unstable states, we study
mesonic resonances in pi-pi and pi-K scattering. The time-delay method proves
its usefulness by revealing the spectrum of the well-known rho- and K*-mesons
and by supporting some speculations on rho-mesons in the 1200 MeV region. We
use this method further to shed some light on more speculative meson
resonances, among others the enigmatic scalars. We confirm the existence of
chiralons below 1 GeV in the unflavoured and strange meson sector.Comment: 22 pages LaTex, 8 figure
