Factors Affecting Employee Turnover at Architecture Engineering Construction Operations and Management (AECOM) Afghanistan

    Get PDF
The objective of this study is to find out those factors that affect employee turnover and to also to find out the effect of those factors on employee turnover at AECOM, throughout our literature review we were able to find out four important factors pay, promotion, supervision and career growth that affects employee turnover the most. We used regression analysis, descriptive statistics, and quantitative approach through which we distributed a questionnaire among 73 employees of AECOM randomly which is our sample size to identify the effect of our independent variable on the dependent variable, using statistical analysis we find out that promotion and career growth both have a negative relationship with turnover and 2 other factors pay and supervision based on beta value are considered significant but has a positive relationship with employee turnover

Chalcogenide glasses have received much attention from researchers during the last few years because of their interesting optical, electrical, dielectric, thermal, and physical properties by changing the composition such as wide transmission range, high refractive index, good chemical durability, optical switching, and from amorphous to crystalline phase transition. In this paper,  are taken in appropriate atomic weight percentages. Ternary Seā‚‡ā‚‰Teā‚‚ Pbā‚ chalcogenide glass is prepared by conventional melt quenching technique. XRD method is used for the identification of crystalline materials. Thus, the absence of any sharp and prominent peak in the XRD pattern confirmed the amorphous nature of chalcogenide glass

Safety compliance at the workplace: Employees at manufacturing small and medium enterprises (SMEs) in Kedah

In 2016, the Malaysian government launched a total of 150 small and medium enterprise (SME) development programs with a total funding of RM 5 billion to assist more than 580 000 SMEs and their employees. With respect to long-term prospects, the SME Master Plan 2012 ā€“ 2020, apart from being intended to transform SMEs so as to achieve a high income nation status by 2020, is aimed to identify and facilitate the implementation of immediate actions to reduce the occupational death rate to 4.36/100, 000 workers and accident rate to 2.53/1000 workers, as well as to increase the quality of work poisoning to 30 percent through the enhancement of safety compliance at SMEs. The purpose of this study is to examine the positive relationships between (1) safety rules and procedures, (2) safety participation, (3) communication, (4) safety training, (5) management commitment, (6) work environment, and safety compliance. A cross-sectional study was conducted. Data was gathered through a questionnaire distributed to workers of the manufacturing sector of SMEs (n = 124). Data analysis was done using SPSS version 20.0. This study applied factor analysis, descriptive statistics, reliability analysis and inferential analysis to examine the relationships among the variables. Multiple regression results showed that the significant variables related to safety compliance are communication, safety training, and work environment and accounted for 63.6% of the total variance. The theoretical and managerial implications of the findings are discussed and the results of this study can be utilized by manufacturing SMEs, government agencies, general community, stakeholders, national social partners, and the general public to increase the efficiency and productivity of SMEs as well as competitiveness between organizations and employees to adopt a better quality of life as per standard OSH practices and effective safety compliance

Cornelia de Lange syndrome is a rare developmental disorder syndrome involving multiple systems characterized by facial dysmorphism limb deformities, hirsutism, cardiac defects, growth and cognitive retardation, and gastrointestinal abnormalities. The features of this disorder range from mild to severe.Ā  We present here a case of preterm newborn with Classical Cornelia de Lange syndrome with heterozygous mutation in NIBPL gene

Simultaneous Determination of Dimethomorph and Chlorothalonil in Pesticide Formulation: HPLC Method Development and Validation

    Get PDF
The identification and accurate quantification of pesticides is important to verify the recommendedconcentration of active content of each pesticide in formulated products to avoid adverse effects on human life due toover dosage. In this study, method of quantitative determination of Dimethomorph and Chlorothalonil in pesticideformulation was developed and validated by using ICH guidelines. Chromatographic separations with good resolutionwere performed on Beckman C-18 column (5 Āµm x 150 mm x 4.6 mm), using 80:20, v/v ā€“ (CH3CN:H2O) as mobilephase in isocratic mode at 230 nm. The retention time for Dimethomorph and Chlorothalonil at flow rate 1.2 mL/minwas 6.21 and 9.63 minutes, respectively. Calibration curves of both studied fungicides (Chlorothalonil andDimethomorph) were linear showing coefficient of determination greater than 0.996. %RSD value of inter-dayprecision was found to be less than 3 for both pesticides and for intra-day precision these values were less than 2. Interlaboratory comparison (ILC) method was applied to evaluate the accuracy of the proposed method and Z-score valueswere found to be less than 2. The proposed method is therefore efficient, accurate, and cost-effective and can suitablybe used for simultaneous quantitative determination of Dimethomorph and Chlorothalonil in pesticide formulatedproducts

Multiple mycotoxins in rice : occurrence and health risk assessment in children and adults of Punjab, Pakistan

    Get PDF
Mycotoxin contamination in rice can create a health risk for the consumers. In this study, the measurement of 23 mycotoxins in rice samples (n = 180) was performed using a validated LC-MS/MS method. A food frequency questionnaire was used to get rice consumption data for the assessment of mycotoxin dietary exposure, before calculating the health risk in adults and children of north and south regions of the Pakistani Punjab province. The prevalence of aflatoxin B-1 (56%), aflatoxin B-2 (48%), nivalenol (28%), diacetoxyscirpenol (23%), fumonisin B-1 (42%), zearalenone (15%), HT-2 toxin (10%), deoxynivalenol (8%), and ochratoxin A (6%) was estimated in samples with a mean concentration range between 0.61 and 22.98 mu g/kg. Aflatoxin degradation by traditional Pakistani cooking recipes was evaluated and observed to be 41-63%. The dietary exposure to aflatoxins exceeded the tolerable daily intake at all levels, and ochratoxin A and zearalenone posed health risk at high contamination and high consumption levels. The margin of aflatoxin B-1 exposure ranged between 10 and 69 in adults and 10 and 62 in children. The mean cancer risk by aflatoxin B-1 exposure was 0.070 (adults) and 0.071 (children) cases/year/100,000 people in South Punjab population, and 0.122 (adults) and 0.127 (children) cases/year/100,000 people in North Punjab population. This study will provide new insights for the planning and management of mycotoxins in Pakistan
