Regulation of Catalase Synthesis in Escherichia coli K12 : 1. Further Isolation of Catalase-less Mutants caused by Deficiency Apo-proteins
Six mutants of Escherichia coli K12 AB1157 were isolated, the catalase activity of which was about from 10% to 60% of the activity of the wild type. Four mutants showed nomal composition and contents of the cytochromes . Two mutants showed nomal cytochrome composition, although having slightly less amounts of cytochromes than those of wild type. Measurement of the pyridine hemochrome spectra with the mutant cells having the 10west catalase activity, 10% of the parent, showed that protoheme content of the mutant was about 70% of the parent/s level. These results suggest that the defects in catalase activity of mutants are not due to heme deficiency, but due to some defect in synthesis of catalase apoprotein, caused by mutation of a cat gene as described previouly. All of the catalase-less mutants isolated in this work were most probably caused by one point mutation, so that the two mutants with about 10% of the catalase activity of parent mayby useful for the analysis of the catalase gene in Escherichia coli

èŠã§ããAs seen in the report by the Central Council for Education on Aug. 2016, many specific words from higher educational reform are used to explain new educational guidelines. Especially, the word of Active learning is quite new term, the report explains that it is voluntary and interactive learning, but its basic idea overlaps considerably with hitherto existing premise of effective learning in school educational history. A survey about educational activities was conducted with elementary school and junior high school teachers in city B, taken in middle size city in the Prefecture A to reveal an awareness of teachers for new educational wave, such as active learning. In addition the same survey was executed with other elementary school teachers in Prefecture A also. The results revealed the followings: 1) Most of teachers recognize that school is the place to learn subject, 2) Teachers in city A feel strongly that academic ability of their students is low, 3) Most of teachers think that they are used to teach subject by active learning, 4) Many teachers use pair learning, group learning, and research as an active learning with in their teaching, 5) Most of teachers place the importance on introduction and development in their teaching but not on preparation and review. Although these results suggest that teachers accept a wave of active learning with equanimity, they might not understand the essentials in active learning. Many teachers might understand that the active learning is one teaching technique. Active learning is not just a method but it gives student an idea how to keep learning voluntary though their life, therefore there should be a variety of teaching forms. We must emphasis the essential of active learning and facilitate an awareness of teachers about it for further improvement of school education

While this system seems convenient, it is also problematic particularly if teachers want to improve on specific aspects of their classroom instruction, but are easily discouraged due to the large amounts of data that need to be selected and analyzed. Therefore, we suggest an alternative approach of collecting student data during class time. This research explores the kind of data instructors should collect from students during class time and how to use this data to better understand their attitude and behavior towards a particular class. This research consists of 4 stages: 1) Executing an easy-to-use student survey focusing on: the student\u27s purpose for entering the university, their feelings about the university and their vision for the future. 2) Using the answers from the survey during class time to encourage student participation. 3) Executing the student\u27s evaluation of a class and analyzing any relevance between the answers on the survey and the evaluations. 4) Using the data from 2) and 3) to improve classroom teaching. The data collection during the appointed class times occurred over a 2-year period and the results showed a strong correlation between increased positivity in student attitude and behavior, and improvements in the teaching techniques that were implemented. In closing, we propose establishing a system of collecting and connecting small amounts of data from classrooms in order to facilitate improvements in the quality and delivery of our instruction
