Environmental projects implementation effectiveness in business structures within the corporate social responsibility

    Get PDF
Rapid economic growth impacts our environment and consequently ecosystem services greatly. Recognizing the value and the need for conservation of ecosystem services is essential to business, the latter can reduce the risks as well as provide new opportunities for further development. It is quite possible that business can become a leading sector in environmental protection. As social corporate responsibility (CSR) in Ukraine becomes more and more popular, companies implement projects on energy efficiency, climate change, green building, and biodiversity conservation. However, the projects’ effectiveness should undergo assessment in order to prevent green-washing. This research aims at evaluating the companies’ performance in environmental projects implementation within the CSR. Its another attempt is to prove that environmental projects are a new trend that could become an effective tool for environmental protection

Heterovalent and isovalent doping of bilayer proton-conducting perovskite SrLa2Sc2O7

Perovskite or perovskite-related structural materials are widely studied for their many functional properties. They can be used as components of energy sources such as solid oxide fuel cells. Along with classical perovskites, layered perovskites can also carry out high-temperature proton transport and are promising materials for use in electrochemical power engineering. In this paper, the possibility of heterovalent and isovalent doping of La and Sc sublattices of bilayer perovskite SrLa2Sc2O7 was made for the first time. It was shown that electrical conductivity increases in the row of bilayer perovskites SrLa2ScInO7 – SrLa2Sc2O7 – BaLa2In2O7 – BaNd2In2O7.https://doi.org/10.15826/elmattech.2023.2.01

Materials with perovskite or perovskite-related structure have many applications because of theirs different physical and chemical properties. These applications are extremely diverse and cover different fields including hydrogen energy. Layered perovskites with Ruddlesden-Popper structure constitute a novel class of ionic conductors. In this paper, the effect of acceptor doping on the local structure and its relationship with transport properties were shown for layered perovskites based on BaLa2In2O7 for the first time. The geometric factor (the increase in the unit cell volume due to the increase in the ionic radii of cations) plays major role in the area of small dopant concentration (x  0.15). The concentration factor (the increase in the oxygen vacancy concentration) is more significant in the area of big dopant concentration (x  0.15). The acceptor doping is a promising way of improving the oxygen-ionic conductivity of layered perovskite BaLa2In2O7

Accounting for local meteorological effects in the ozone time-series of Lovozero (Kola Peninsula)

International audienceThe relationship between local meteorological conditions and the surface ozone variability was studied by means of statistical modeling, using ozone and meteorological parameters measured at Lovozero (250 m a.s.l., 68.5°N, 35.0°E, Kola Peninsula) for the period of 1999-2000. The regression model of daily mean ozone concentrations on such meteorological parameters as temperature, relative humidity and wind speed explains up to 70% of day-to-day ozone variability in terms of meteorological condition changes, if the seasonal cycle is also considered. A regression model was created for separated time scales of the variables. Short-term, synoptical and seasonal components are separated by means of Kolmogorov-Zurbenko filtering. The synoptical scale variations were chosen as the most informative from the point of their mutual relation with meteorological parameters. Almost 40% of surface ozone variations in time periods of 11-60 days can be explained by the regression model on separated scales that is 30% more efficient than ozone residuals usage. Quantitative and qualitative estimations of the relations between surface ozone and meteorological predictors let us preliminarily conclude that at the Lovozero site surface ozone variability is governed mainly by dynamical processes of various time scale rather than photochemistry, especially during the cold season

Effect of anion doping on mobility of ionic charge carriers in solid solutions based on Ba2In2O5

In the work, mobilities of oxygen and protons are determined for F --substituted solid solutions based on brownmillerite Ba 2In2O5 and their concentration dependences are analyzed. It is found that small additives of the more mobile anion (F - ions) promote an increase in oxygen mobility as a result of additional effects of repulsion of ions of different nature in the anion sublattice. Mobility of oxygen at high fluoride concentrations decreases due to the overlapping of migration paths of diffusion, as both anions, fluoride ions and oxygen ions, move via oxygen vacancies. Concentration dependences of mobility of proton carriers have a similar character, which is related to the effect of the oxygen sublattice. The anion doping method used in the work can be recommended as the general method for improvement of the transport characteristics of oxygen-ionic and protonic conductors with a perovskite-like structure. © 2013 Pleiades Publishing, Ltd
